Stayed for a week in a upper level shelf space. Great views, saw wild turkeys & deer. Space was flat and fairly level. This parking loop was mostly for truck campers & very small rigs. New owners are diligently working to get the park up to their standards. Very friendly and helpful owners. Great access to local Montana tourist areas. Very quiet at night w/spectacular star gazing. One of the cleanest parks I've been in. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Truck Camper.

Overall Rating:

The Rambling Moose Campground was previously called the Virginia City RV Park. There are new and highly motivated owners who are very friendly, helpful, and full of plans to make this park exceptional. The rest rooms and free showers are spotless, there is a laundry facility available, and the WiFi was great. We were in spot 10, the last pull-through up the hill, so it was a small space and all the rigs made their turn around us, but it was okay for a couple nights. If we were going to stay longer I'd ask for one of the back-in spaces off to the side of the main road through the campground. The park is right next to the highway into town, but it's silent at night. We'd recommend this campground to anyone traveling in the area. It's a quick drive into Virginia City, and there are other places to explore nearby as well. A great spot. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Enjoy Virginia City - lots to do there. Don't eat at The Hay Bale Saloon, but the beer is good! The Ghost Tour and the Follies are both worth the money.

A very nice RV park. Clean with a very helpful staff. Our WIFI signal was spotty at best and there wasn't any TV signal at all. We spent two nights there and saw deer come right through the park both days.

The park is on a hillside so the sites are not completely level, but we didn't have any trouble hooking and unhooking from the 5th wheel. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice setting. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sites were very close together. Rigs are parked in the 50 amp sections in alternate directions. On the driver's side of the trailer, my slide was within a foot of the neighbor'slide. On the passenger side (door side) I shared about 6 ft wide space of grass with my neighbor. When they invited a group of 8 friends to their site, it felt like I was intruding. Other available sites were too small for my rig. Just too tight. The new owners have made this place wonderful. While the park itself has an interesting layout (kinda on a hill) it's not bad but bring your leveling blocks. Wifi didn't work at my site but works at the office, near their residence on site, or at a cute little gazebo with picnic bench at the upper part of the park. They have cabins to rent and also a tepee. Owner are bend over backwards helpful and it is just a short drive to Virginia City and Nevada city historical towns. Had a great visit all in all there, we would stay again. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the time to visit the historical ghost town of Nevada City and take the town tour which you can get tickets to on the south end of town. You can also take a little train ride which is not necessarily exciting for adults but the kids would love it.

We stayed at this park several years ago. It was run down and the owner was not a nice person, to put it politely. The present owners bend over backwards to make sure their guests enjoy their stay. Very quiet at night and dark and the bathrooms sparkle. Campground is clean!!! We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Some of the sights are close, others are not. Virginia City boasts shopping, museums, a lot of history and nice people. The fire truck gives tours of Virginia City and the tour guide wears a microphone so he can point out interest spots. There is a train that runs from Virginia City to Nevada City.

Great location to tour Virginia City and Nevada City, a short drive away from both. The owners are great people and very accommodating. While the sites are close most campers are respectful of everyone. Due to the extreme dry conditions no fires were allowed however the town did have fireworks on the Fourth of July and the view was awesome from the deck of the office. The laundry room is very small and clean with 1 washer & dryer. Had a great time here and would return if we are ever in the area again. When we were there there is a for sale sign for the Rv Park. This is a lovely, small hillside park right outside historic Virginia City, MT. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and hard workers. A cow moose and calf visited in the evening. All of our needs were met, and we'll go back next year, Lord willing. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice Park with all the amenities. Close to Virginia City and all attractions in this area. The Park is clean and orderly and quiet. Owners/Managers are friendly and helpful and very nice people. They will do anything to make your stay enjoyable in their Park. We found our stay here very pleasant and did a lot of sightseeing in Virginia City. You can't ask for more. Do not miss the Virginia City Players performance. Very very worthwhile and fun. The WiFi was somewhat unreliable in the Park but I am not sure whether to attribute that to the Park's signal or to my own computer. Difficult to tell. A large motor home parked between us and the Office might also have contributed to a somewhat unstable WiFi signal. We would return. This RV park is 1/2 mile east from the town of Virginia City and if you like to hike, then walk to town because the return trip is completely uphill. There are many activities in town to enjoy: The Brewery Follies, Opera House, Dog & Grog Weekend, Art Fair weekend and much more. This is the perfect place to stay while visiting Virginia/Nevada cities. It is a very clean park, especially the bathrooms. The owners and their managers were all fun to be around and very nice. We will stay there again. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Campground has gravel sites, good utilities but no cable and no stations available on the antenna. It is within walking distance of town if you are in shape and don't mind a short walk along the roadside with no sidewalk. Owners and hosts are very friendly and helpful. What a difference from our visit last year! The new owners have definitely made improvements in the park, and the staff is very friendly. We traveled with our two dogs, and this year is was very pleasant. If you have had a bad experience before, I would recommend giving them another try. The rates are reasonable. $35/FHU, $30/W/E. Cabins too. The bathrooms are very clean. I loved it. We camped at Rambling Moose Campground (formerly Virginia City RV Park) in a Motorhome.
