Baker's Hole is a great option when visiting Yellowstone. It is a beautiful campground, right on the Madison River (though only a few sites have an actual river view) with a town 10 minutes away, great cell service (Verizon), and electric hookups on some sites. The vault toilets were immaculate and the camp hosts were nice and helpful. It is a 45-60 minute drive to Old Faithful and quite far from the Lamar Valley and Mammoth, but driving for a while is par for the course in Yellowstone. Madison Campground in the park is about 30-minutes closer to everything, but no cell service or food available nearby, and the sites are much less private. Baker's Hole is first come only and it can fill up during Late June through August, but arrive early and you probably can get a site.. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Terrific place. Not able to add much to the other reviews except to say that this is a really good campground for those who want to get away from an RV Park. There are so many really good sites both with and w/out electricity. It's no wonder that this place sells out early during the vacation season.

If you are a senior and have the Golden Age Pass you will pay $15 per night for an elec site and $8 for non-electric. Without the pass the prices are $22 and $16 respectively. The camp hosts were what we would hope that all camp hosts should be like: friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. 5 stars for them.

One other kudo. This campground and several others nearby are run by the Hobgen District of the Custer Gallatin Natl Forest. This group is managed by a person, who prior to my trip, helped me a lot by both phone and email. Great, helpful service. Google the district for the email info should you need some advance info.

Will definitely stay here again. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

What a gem! All sites are First come first serve. Arrive early in high season and wait for a site to open. We arrived at 10:30am on a Thursday. Only found 1 site open, but it was one of the best; right on the Madison river with a great view. It looked like a lot of people were leaving on Friday, but not many on Thursday. The hosts were very friendly. Some sites have electricity hookups. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in an electrical site that was very clean and well maintained. The camp host was very friendly. We stayed in late September so the campground was not busy at all. The sites were big so your neighbor was not too close. Although when we were there only about 5 campers were in the park so it was very quiet. You can take a short walk to Madison River that is beautiful. We recommend this campground. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

$16 for dry camping, $22 for electric sites. No reservations so you have to get lucky finding a site if people are leaving that day, but found a lot of people end up extending their stays. I stayed my first night at Rainbow Point Campground because this one was full by the time we arrived on Sunday evening. Came back on Monday to stay 2 nights. It seems most people left on Tuesday. I have to work online so Verizon signal is important to me, and I thought I should get a pretty good signal here but it turned out to be too spotty. At best, 30% 3G data signal on the mifi, but most of the time it went down to 1x signal, and I couldn't keep a phone call unless I stepped outside. You have to drive toward West Yellowstone just past the airport to get LTE signal. The sites were spaced well enough apart and with a lot of trees, it helps to block you a little from neighbors. Some sites might get a view of the river. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Only 5 minutes from the entrance to Yellowstone, very good location. In town, I noticed there is a combo laundry/showers building if that might be something you need.

After a horrible experience at Rainbow Point we decided to try Baker's Hole Campground and I sure am glad we did. Super friendly hosts, spotless restrooms, breathtaking view, spacious sites and this is the only place they would stay in Yellowstone. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Truck Camper.

This is a great little gem just north of West Yellowstone, it is all first come first serve, a few pull through's, mostly back ins, some with electric hookups, no water or sewer hookups, or showers, which is the only thing that keeps this place from being a ten. There is a water fill near the entrance, but no dump station, there is one available in town, and showers for a fee. Our site was a level, spacious back in with electric and plenty of shade. There are some nice sites along the river.
If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

Park has paved interior roads with spacious sites that are not reservable. So, we were fortunate at 4 in the afternoon to obtain a 50 amp electric site. Some pull-through and but mostly back-in sites that are mostly level with gravel, grass, fir trees, fire pits, tables and no yard lights. Great camp hosts who will answer questions, make change, and sell you firewood. Beautiful setting and big rig friendly. Water fill and dump station available. What a great find! Right outside of West Yellowstone by about 2 miles and 1/3 the price of anything else around. Beautiful campground, well-kept and very nice campground supervisors. No water hook-ups, unfortunately, but the 50 amp electric worked great. Too many trees to get satellite, but I'm not complaining. I'd rather have the trees!

Although this is "big-rig friendly," there are a few spots where our 40' 5th wheel rubbed the trees. The supervisor told us that when the Forest Service did the last tree trimming, they didn't do a very good job. Agreed. Our rig fit just fine in the pull-thru site, although we did have to level a bit.

The only downside to this spot is that it's right off the highway, so there is some highway noise. Only reason it doesn't get a 10 for us. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Bakers Hole is a great campground if you are visiting Yellowstone. They have electricity, the sites are spacious and the hosts are very helpful. Cell coverage is not good on AT&T, but our Internet (Verizon) worked well. Will definitely stay here again when we are in the Yellowstone area. If you can, make reservations early as this park sells out in summer. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great park conveniently located 5 miles outside the Yellowstone Park Entrance. Close to town for shopping. Clean and quiet, some road noise. Cost is $16, $22 for electric. There is no water at each site, but there is a water fill up right at the entrance. We stayed 1 1/2 weeks and enjoyed our time here. Better AT&T cell service than Verizon. Good 3G Verizon internet with a booster. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved this park. Beautiful setting close to Yellowstone Park. The camp hosts were extra friendly and helpful. We stayed here using Golden Access pass so we had a reduced rate on our camping but took advantage of the electrical hookup for an additional charge each night. There is no dump available but there is water available for RVs should you need it. We camped at Baker's Hole Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.
