Overall Rating:

We had a Deluxe premium pull thought site for our 41' 5th wheel being pulled by a long bed, crew cab F-350. While the site was long enough for the trailer and truck unhooked, the lanes to the space was very narrow and the space itself was even more narrow. My tires were up against the concrete patio on one side and sinking in the grass on the other side. The site was so narrow that when we put our slide outs (5 of them) out, they made the in ground fire pit useless and much of the little patio was under the slide out. We didn't use any of the amenities....just a place to park our 41' RV while we visited the park. Interestingly, we noticed a number of a lot smaller rigs in a lot larger spaces while we were crowded in to this very narrow site. This site should have a discount for large RVs. We did have great Dish satellite service. The restrooms and shower building is older but it was clean. The dog park is exceptionally small (both of them)....especially for an RV park of this size. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We pull a 43 ft fifth wheel with an F350. Entry into the park was well marked and easy. The staff were wonderful and so were the RV'ers. Everyone sits out at night and welcomes visiting. Lanes are narrow but length of the sites made it easy to pull in and pull out. Lanes are gravel. Sites are gravel. We have a Deluxe 50 amp Full Hookup Pull-thru. And these sites are like 90 ft long and very wide with tall mature trees for shade. Site are very spacious and include a nice patio with glider swing and fire pit. Park has a restaurant that serves grilled to order steaks, chicken, trout, etc. for dinner and pancakes for breakfast. After a full day in Yellowstone, it was a real treat to come back and get dinner right away. And a coffee hut in the mornings. Also a huge selection of home made fudge in the store. Utilities are well placed and work well. WiFI in the middle of the week day when the park is empty, works well. Otherwise WIFI is marginal, IF you can get out to the web. AT&T Cell service is one to two bars in this area. Verizon Broadband is good. Cable TV reception is good - only 12 channels.Satellite reception is good. WiFi is pitiful - our only complaint. Two small fenced Dog parks Really nice indoor heated Pool & Spa. Nice play area for kids and no Bugs. Can't wait to return to this great RV park for a much longer stay next time. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Enjoy dinner at the cafe in the park. What a treat after a full day of visiting Yellowstone. Be sure to grab an espresso or coffee at the coffee hut before leaving in the morning - or just to socialize with others.

Paved roads with gravel sites. We had one of the deluxe pull through sites with cement patio. Lots of trees. Maintenance guy came and trimmed a tree so we could put slide out. Satellite won't work and having trouble with the cable. Grill on site with good breakfast and dinner. We needed blocks to level. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were excited to stay in this campground and reserved a spot early in 2017. We requested to be near the pool and restrooms with a pull through site. The site we got was a pull through but was far removed from the restrooms and the pool. It was located right in the middle of the densest area of the campground. We paid extra for a "deluxe" site but found that it was very narrow with a concrete patio, porch swing, and table. The site was so narrow that we couldn't open our awning due to the tree on the site. The firepit was located on a slope, right by the road, so it was impossible to sit by it. The site had not been cleaned so we faced an old marshmallow on a stick on the ground where we had to walk. The main sewer drop was broken so we had to rig our hose to run uphill to the second one. Our neighbors in the site above had to dump their tanks right above our patio and parked in the only space available which ended up being right by our firepit. Not their fault. The firewood purchased at the store was the most expensive we've ever seen. The pool was nice and indoors which is not common in the Yellowstone area but the dressing rooms were very small. The store is great with many Montana made items and a good grocery area. The staff was friendly. When we expressed dissatisfaction with our site and the overall conditions the owner/manager did give us a percentage refund which was appreciated. I don't know that we would stay here again although if we had been given a different site our experience probably would have been much better. We thought that our reserving far in advance would give us a better spot but it didn't work that way. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't stay in the middle of the campground. There is a companion KOA campground just down the road that doesn't have as many amenities but might have more level or spacious sites. I'd check it out.

We stayed here during the Labor Day week, and it wasn't too busy. Our site was level, and right across from the main entrance, showers and rest rooms. Because we were close, our wifi worked great. We didn't find it a problem at all being 6 miles from Yellowstone entrance. We'd leave our site around 7:30 am and saw elk and buffalo every morning inside the west entrance. My biggest complaint would be the pool / hot tub building. There's a trip hazard (I experienced it personally!) in the building and I reported it to the front desk. I didn't expect an immediate fix, but the next day there wasn't even a "caution" sign by the hazard. AND, the hot tub didn't look too inviting. I would still stay there again. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This was another okay park with all the KOA services. We opted for a preminm site. The site was kind of small for a preium site but had a full cement patio and a very nice staionary picnic table. The swing that was provided we could have done without. The rest of the park was very large and qutie full each night. Everything worked except the wifi. We could never get it to work which you would think for the price would require it.
The was another park down in the center of town that looked brand new that we would probably try the next time. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The park was ok. Farther from Yellowstone than I had realized. Our original premium site looked out onto the bathrooms and when I requested another location, the desk clerk was quite annoyed, but did move us a few sites further down the line. Tips for other Campers:

If I were to go back to Yellowstone again, I'd try to find a campground that was closer to the park. It was next door to the Bar N ranch where we went for a delicious dinner. The IMAX in West Yellowstone was good. The town is just your typical tourist trap.

We had a difficult time finding a home for our 4 night stay in Yellowstone. All the parks we felt were decent were full, couldn't accommodate our 40' 5th wheel, or were too far from the park. We hesitated on this facility because of the price-we had never paid that much for a site before. But we didn't feel we had much choice. I can't say enough good things about this park! The park was immaculately clean, the sites level and spacious with wonderful concrete sidewalks and patios with nice concrete or metal mesh picnic tables, a fire pit/grill, and a porch swing! The staff was courteous and accommodating, all services worked very well, and all amenities were as promised. They had a lovely store and the prices weren't that bad as gifties go. This park is worth every dime! We will definitely stay here again!!! We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Not the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. We stayed in a space up near the top of the hill. The nearest restrooms/showers were functional but in dire need of remodeling. On a bright note, our space (127) had great wifi reception. We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park set among the trees with level gravel sites and all the ameneties...even an indoor pool. Food service of Pancake breakfast & BBQ dinners (chicken, beef, ribs & trout) were available on site. This park is well removed from town so there is nothing to walk to...it is about a 5 mile drive to downtown west yellowstone.
Nice place to come home to after a long day in the park.
Internet was just OK...intermittent. Cable & other utilities were fine. This is the closer of the two KOA's to Yellowstone...the other is on the same road 2 miles further out.
The double swing in each site is genius! We camped at Yellowstone Park / West Gate KOA in a Motorhome.
