Date of Stay: August, 2012 - $25.00
The lake was low so it was a longer walk to the beach, but during the week we had the place to ourselves. On Friday night it filled up with weekenders and they kept us up all night. No park rangers around, and the camp host certainly wasn't going to do anything about it. Nice campground with large sites, nice view overlooking the lake. Clean bathrooms and showers. We loved the place, and will come back again, just not on a weekend. We camped at Lone Eagle Campground (Lake McConaughy SRA) in a Fifth Wheel.
This was a lovely setting and very well maintained campground. Site were spacious: 50-60 feet on each side. We had a lake view site (#25) with large trees behind us. All sites are back-in, but there is plenty of room to maneuver into the site. In addition to the nightly rate, there is a $4.00/day park permit. We were here for 3 days and unfortunately it rained most of the time, but we still enjoyed our stay. There are many sandy beaches along the lake and you can drive right down to them. We didn't get the opportunity to fish, but were told that the fishing is good on this lake. During the busy season, I would definitely make reservations, especially if you'd like a site with full hook-ups. We will absolutely return to this campground! We camped at Lone Eagle Campground (Lake McConaughy SRA) in a Fifth Wheel.
We have stayed at Long Eagle Campground on the Lake twice. This time we booked full hookups and right on the lake so it was better than last year. It is a good place to walk (and boat, swim or fish) if you want to or like to. The campground Host, Lou and Sherry were terrific. We will return. The full hookups are limited so you do need to make your reservation early (maybe close to 1 year) if you enjoy full hookups. We camped at Lone Eagle Campground (Lake McConaughy SRA) in a Truck Camper.
