Visually attractive no reservation, first come first served CG. You register with the camp host who is located immediately as you enter. Electric only site, no wi-fi, ota tv, back-in. We disconnected dolly and parked it across the street in the parking lot. Mowed grassy areas, neat and clean. Paved walking trails just outside the CG that take you around the lake, very nice. The CG has a fenced in off leash dog park that is huge with access to a small lake and plenty of wild brush for them to explore. There is a mowed trail that takes you there or you can drive your car out the park and turn left. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The park had a few trees but not many, and the roads were paved, in good condition, and easily maneuverable with a 36' DP motorhome. A very nice, clean park where the sites were spacious and had lots of grass (important if you have dogs). Sites only had power (no water, sewer, cable or WiFi) and our connection was 50/30/20 (some sites only had 30A service). There was a dump station available with rinsing water only, and there were potable water spigots scattered throughout the park. The RV parking pad was concrete and like new condition. There were restrooms but or showers. There was a leash-free dog exercise area which was fenced on three sides with water on the 4th for your dog to play in The price was very reasonable ($16) for this great little park. All sites are on a first come first serve basis. The park was located away from heavy traffic, so there was no road noise. We would rate this park as 9.7 out of 10. We stayed in a motorhome and would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

What a rare find! This is a beautiful city park and among the nicest settings we've stayed at. The 55' sites are spacious with plenty of length for the RV and gravel parking for the tow vehicle. The sites are fairly level side to side but slope front to back by several degrees. The access roads, pad and patio are all concrete and each site has 30/50A power, a picnic table and a grill. You'll have to pick up water on the way in and dump on the way out which is the only detraction we could find. There are several common water spigots located throughout. We picked up 30 OTA TV channels and our wi-fi hotspot signal was strong.

The park sits on 450 acres with a 105 acre reservoir and has over 3 miles of hiking/biking trails. They don't take reservations and RV sites are first come, so call ahead to gauge availability. At this time of the year the majority of the sites were open but during the prime summer season this place is probably difficult to get into. We would come back again. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

If, like us, you haven't spent any time in Omaha before, then you are in for a treat. We recommend heading for the Old Market area downtown to start. Great restaurants and shops in old recycled industrial buildings. Check out the Upstream Brewing Company for great brews and eats. Parking the dually was not a problem. There's much more - check it out.

This is a nice park and a good value. It was very clean and the site spacing is good. I had a back in site and there was plenty of room for our MH and toad. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park and lake. Slabs are 50 ft long for RV's and tents. It was Memorial Day weekend, and we luckily got one of the last spots. When you arrive, register with the camp host, they take cash or check only. No showers. Grass and small trees to separate the sites, but there are no low lying branches to scrape against. The park is in a nice/newer area of town with shopping. Gates close at 10 pm so hopefully you don't have any plans to go out to dinner or see a movie while you're in Omaha. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Walk the pedestrian bridge that marks the Omaha/Nebraska border; a great photo op. Also an NPS building there. Ameristar buffet is outstanding, we visit Ameristar buffets all over the country.

Beautiful sites near a lake with a 3.1 mi paved walking trail. Awesome big off leash fenced dog park where they can swim in the lake (opposite the walking trail.! Stayed for 2 nights, but could have stayed longer happily. Very nicely landscaped with nice paved loops & sites. Very quiet at night, nice people! Pretty little park, but major drawback is that sites are electric only, some with 30amp, some with 50amp, water and dump station available. Camp host(s) very congenial and helpful with suggestions for local attractions. Lots of room between the 50' long sites, and leveling is easy enough, although park is built on a small hillside. Park overlooks small lake, with 3.1 mile walking trail around it and a couple of fishing docks. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Omaha is a compact urban city. Much to do in the Old Town section, several colleges/universities, great museums and art offerings. Nice community, don't miss "Little Italy".

We have stayed here at least yearly when we visit family in the area for the last 7 or 8 years. We have never had a problem getting a site of some sort. One time, on a busy weekend, we had our kids pay and reserve a site before we could arrive. Nice concrete pads with concrete patio. There are charcoal grills at each site and a few portable fire pits available. What can I add to all the previous reviews that showcase this park any better. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

First come, first served park. Easy to get in and out of. Campground hosts were wonderful and patient as we looked around for which spot we wanted. We picked site 11, which had 50 amp service and the water spigot was close enough with an extra hose to fill fresh water tank. The dump has no fresh water available and is at a steep angle so your tanks, depending on where they are, may not empty completely. Our site was not quite level, but close. Spacing between units was good. Verizon cell service was excellent and no problem setting up DirecTV. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground does not offer any discounts off the nightly rate and you can’t make a reservation. You can call the camp host and see what is available. The roads and pads are paved with nice grass and room between the sites. The pads can be sloped but leveling is doable. The only hookup at the site is for electricity and not all sites have 50amp service. The dump station is on the way out. There are several water hydrants where you can fill your tank. There are no showers or laundry. The only vault toilet is next to the playground on the upper level. Recycling is available next to the dumpster across from the residence. If you plan a longer stay, there are rules about how long you can be in a particular site and with regards to 30amp vs. 50amp service. There is a paved three mile hike/bike trail around the lake. We always enjoy our stay here. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

This is a gem of a park. Think it is a city community sponsored. All the sites are concrete with paved patios and a picnic table. There are small trees on each site, but not big enough to shade the sites. There are very few pull-throughs (mostly back-ins), and mostly 30 amp (not sure how many 50 amp, but we stayed here twice and didn't get one.) There are hydrants scattered throughout the campground to fill if you needed to. Some were very close to the sites, which is what we had the first camp. No reservations, but we called the day before and asked to have a site "saved" for us at a certain time, and they accommodated us both times. There is a swim beach, and we saw kids playing with their labs there. We would definitely come back, unless it was late summer and too warm to cool our coach on one A/C unit. For the money, this is an excellent stay for only a few nights. We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Great campground. It only offers electric service. There are three hydrants from which you can fill your tanks when water is needed. There is a 3 mile paved walk around a public lake only steps away from the campground. The lake offers fishing from shore or boat. Beware, we left the campground with two snakes in our motorhome! I don't know how you guard against them entering your rig, but it's better to know it is possible when staying in this campground. It was the fright of our life to discover them! We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We really enjoyed our time at this park. The camphost is friendly and helpful, and the park is very pretty. As mentioned before, electric (50 amp on only a few sites....others are 30 amp) is the only utlility available. There are 3 water bibs for filling your tank, and a dump station located near the exit. There is a great walking/jogging/biking trail within 1/4 mile of the campground entrance....the trail is 3.1 miles long, and is very pretty. We enjoyed Papillion a great deal, and enjoyed the nearby Minor League baseball games, too! We camped at Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area in a Motorhome.
