This is a nice State Park, pleasant staff, nice sites. Water is available at the park and there is a dump station about a mile from the campground. All sites are back in but we pulled in so we were facing the lake. Electric hook up was 50 amp and worked flawlessly. You have to have an extra long cord to pull in. Great for bicycles! Climb the lighthouse, it's 4 flights and a little snug if you are bothered by close places but the view is nice. Late September, Canadian Geese, doves, gulls, and a raptor in the distance. $28.00 includes State Park entrance fee. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Very nice well kept park. #1 complaint is the same at most parks "pets not on a leash", Owners not picking up after their dogs. COE parks do a much better job at enforcing this issue. We did have an issue with the camper next to us about allowing there dogs to roam free and actually pee on our chair, so we talked to the Ranger and he said he would talk to them and he did because the dogs were on a leash from then on. We stayed for 12 days and contrary to another post earlier we saw the Ranger every day. Most pads were level and the 50 amp service was great. We camped in site #11, there is lots of shade trees at most sites. We did not stay in the HQ Park, we stayed in Butte View where all sites are walk up only. Once again another park in Nebraska with pay showers. Remember they also have daily park fee $8 if out of state. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Scotts Bluff is large enough to purchase just about anything you would need. Very easy town to get around. They do have a small zoo on the south edge of town. There is a RV Park next to the zoo if someone is interested but the sites are not very big, but they do have "Free Firewood" for thier campers.

Overall the Butte View campground is good. Sites were level and 50 amp service has been installed at several sites. There is lots of shade from very large Cottonwood trees. The one thing we missed was the start/finish line on the main road. The speed that some people went up and down was just crazy. I actually saw someone pass another vehicle on the road in front of the camp sites. I must assume there is no Ranger or Police anywhere near this park. I would be very hesitant to bring small children to this campground. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We just returned home from Nebraska, stayed at Lake Minatare in Minatare, NE it was a nice state Park with only 30 amp electric. The park was clean, with clean bathrooms and showers. Also had a laundry facility. The grass (weeds too) was a little overgrown, could have used some trimming. The space between the lots was anywhere from 15 feet to 30 feet, with bushes and leafy olive trees between them. Our spot was on the lake inlet side so we had a "river" that flowed into the lake with lots of fisherman with boats. Fishing was very good from what I observed. The sites are all paved asphalt or concrete with grassy areas for the picnic table and fire ring. Our picnic area was un-level and very hard for us to walk on. We could get both our 40' 5th wheel and our 1 ton quad door dually in the spot. We were there after Labor Day so nice and quiet. There were lots of flies though, that was the only bad thing. We were there visiting family. The cost was $20 a night, for 30 amp, water hydrants were located through out the campground and there was a dump station near the entrance of the park. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

The area is rich in history of the covered wagon days. Within minutes of the Chimney Rock museum, Scotts Bluff National Monument And of course I didn't take but one picture. Close too town

Easy access for 40 foot, paved sites, trees at all sites block satellite, all sites are on the lake. The park is nice, you can drive onto the beach, 5th Wheelers and Trailers were parked on sand of the beach. The park has a lighthouse to climb. The main road of the park had noisy traffic on it at night. The park is 15 minutes to the nearest town, which has everything you need. If I'm ever in that part of Nebraska again and need an overnight stop, it was worth the extra 15-20 minute drive to the park instead of Walmart in Scottsbluff. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

It's great to see this area green again after a very long drought. Lake Minatare's water level fluctuates a bit because it is used for irrigation during the summer months. This is the fullest I've seen the lake in many years. Rain has helped the local farmers so less water is being released. Mosquitoes are usually a problem around water areas in Western Nebraska but were not to bad with this visit. I know they have been sprayed for them in past years. Park rangers and employees were very friendly and even stopped to give an update on a severe storm rolling in during our stay. The park was well maintained during our stay. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

The campsites back to the end of an arm of the lake, which was more like a swamp than open water. The mosquitos were awful. There are two water faucets in the campground- only one of which is close enough to the road to use to fill an RV water tank. Not as well maintained as another SRA we stayed at that was closer to the state capital. Apart from these things it was a decent enough campground. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We camped for 3 nights and were satisfied. Restrooms and showers were acceptable, but only one set of them, so was at a distance for some sites. Good site for boating and fishing, as what a majority of campers did. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Tent Trailer.

A nice SP. A good choice in the Scott's Bluff and Chimney Rock area. Sites are well spaced underneath mature cotton wood trees. Sites are asphalt paved. We enjoyed our stay there. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Restroom facilities consisted of a filthy, unlit, unvented outhouse. Shower facilities were no better. In addition, Lake Minatare had the worst mosquitoes I have ever experienced (and I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay). If I ever go to Scottsbluff again, I'll stay in a hotel before I stay at Lake Minatare. We camped at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area in a Tent Trailer.
