We were greeted immediately by the friendly on-site hostess who guided us directly into the first space. She said we could move to any other if we wanted, though. We had FHU, which was one of the reasons we chose this park, and they all worked well. There were only 4-5 other campers in the park, and none of us were crowded together. What we hadn't realized was that this park has a lot to do. There is a small zoo, Riverside Discovery Center, at the entrance. Even if you don't visit, you can hear the lion, tiger, and bears roaring sometimes in the mornings/evenings (it was not too loud or disturbing) There are small ponds which the signs say can be fished or rowed on -- they looked kinda murky to me, though. There are lots of walking trails in the park itself, and a nice multi-use paved trail at the back of the park that goes all the way into town, about 1.5 miles one way. There is a disc golf course in the park, as well as a large, fenced dog park. We did not use the restrooms, but they appeared clean and functional, the showers having real doors and not curtains. Easy drive to Scotts Bluff National Monument, the area's main attraction and a beautiful place to hike up to the top of the bluff on a well-maintained trail. We had only planned a one-day stopover but ended up staying three, taking advantage of all the activities and FHUs of the park. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Wonderfully clean city park along the North Platte River. Weekly rate is $150.00 which is 7 nights for the price of 6. The campground hosts were fantastic. We are fulltime RV'ers and have never seen such hard working hosts in all of our travels. I had health problems while we were there and they bent over backwards to make sure that we could stay as long as we needed. The campground is on a biking/hiking trail along the river. If you like disk golf the park has an 18 hole disk golf course. The park also has fishing ponds, a large dog park, and playground. The only reason I didn't give it a ten was because they didn't have a laundry room. If your going to visit Scottsbluff this is the place to stay. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A great city owned campground in a city park that includes a zoo. Level gravel pads surrounded by grass. Nice picnic tables and fire rings with free firewood delivered by some of the nicest camp hosts ever! Cash only. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cute downtowns in both Scotts Bluff and Gering. The Scotts Bluff National Monument is breathtaking! The Legacy of the Plains Museum just down the road from the National Monument is one of the best small museums that I have ever seen anywhere.

$25/day for full hook-ups and wifi. We stayed a few days in this city part for the Old West Balloon Fest (Fabulous) and to visit Scott's Bluff. The park takes reservations, but when we arrived, we were told to "pick whatever site we wanted". Many of the nicer sites were gone. It's kind of an off layout, at least on several of the "streets" you are back to back with another camper around the utilities. So close that I could almost hand something from my window out to my family who were in the MH behind me. We could get our slides out, but there wasn't a lot of space to spare. On the front side, you may share a picnic table with the folks across from you. So, not some place to go if you are looking for privacy. Seems a nice park, but as a city park, it appeared to get some rather seedy folks in tents. It was a little stressful getting in an finding a site, and after checking out the city CG in nearby Gering, I wish we had gone there. That said, the sites were grass/dirt, but fairly level and pull through, which I like when I can get them. Plenty of room for my tow vehicle. The hook-ups worked fine and were relatively easy to get to. They have restrooms and showers. If you are a "clean freak" or very worried about privacy, these will not be for you. There are basically 2 showers with shower curtains, opening into a small changing area separated from the toilets by another shower curtain. Unlike other reviewers, I would not call them particularly clean. Access via a Nebraska dirt road (kind of a washboard), but plenty wide, not too long and the directional signs were good. Your rig will get dusty though - no big deal, you're camping. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

Simple city owned park. Most sites have a table and fire pit, wood is a one time payment of $5. Unlimited through out your stay. Quite a few longterm units on the backside of property. Handful of noisy barky dogs, couple of them are left outside all day. There is a dog park inside the park, as well as disc golf, a lake, and a playground. Wifi will not stream but we were able to work, surf the web and send emails. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a city-owned campground with dirt roads and tight pull-through dirt spots and nothing else - no laundry facility, rec room, pool. Not even an office. It's a chunk of land the city is making money off of and that's it. It looked like there used to be a zoo or something next door, but now it's just all run down with no animals. CONS: It's poorly marked - we overshot the entrance as there was no sign, then saw an office but it was empty; better signage is needed. Sites very tight - we had just 2' from our slide to neighbor's slide. Some sites were fairly level; some need lots of work to level. And then there's the bathroom - it is old & dirty - the worst we've seen in 2+ years. (I wouldn't use it.) Shower curtains separate the two men's stalls and you have to go through one to get into the other (!!) - the space is small and the layout is atrocious! Advertised WiFi was unusable from our site. PROS: The location is good to visit the nearby Scotts Bluff NM and Chimney Rock NHS. When we did find it, we were greeted by very nice park hosts; they're the best assets this place has going for it. But for $25/nite for a piece of dirt, we won't be staying again. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here for three days to tour the area. Camp host was very accommodating and since he was from Scottsbluff, knew the area well. Our site was long and level with ood water pressure and power. Satellite reception was great. Bathrooms and showers were clean. We would stay here again. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

Just an overnight stay, but park offered level, pull through sites. Best WIFI have had at a RV park. Air antennae brought in all major networks, about 10 channels in total. On site host was very pleasant. About 10 feet between sites, but little shade. Just 3 miles off major highway, very quiet. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

This was a wonderful surprise! In the middle of the city and the price was great! We missed our road and had to find by phone map but easy to get into and close to stores. Also located next to the city's small zoo. We did hear a lion roar in the evening and in the morning, also some peacocks yelling but campground is quiet. Seems to have some locals camping for season but the campground had plenty of space and all other campers were respectful. We did not make a reservation in advance. There is a host camper that checks you in, takes you to your site. Very clean, well taken care of campground. No problem with outsiders coming in at night. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park is nice, not plush or with many amenities. Adequate for a few nights if visiting the area. One of the hosts seemed curt (maybe he had a bad day). The morning we were leaving I ask if the dump site was operational (it was all overgrown with grass with no evidence of use). It was but I was informed that since I only paid for electric/water site it would cost me an extra $7.00 to dump (added up to more than the price of a full hookup site). Simply a bad policy! If staying during the warm months beware of ticks. We found several on our pets and ourselves. We camped at Riverside City Park in a Motorhome.

A wonderful place to explore the area. This is one of the best city parks we have encountered in our RV travels. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Power was good. Water pressure good. Used their WiFi without problems. Had AT&T phone service. If in the area we will return. Can't beat the price. Now for the fun part. This campground is near the Zoo. When the lion began growling our 140lb Anatolian was not too excited to go out! We camped at Riverside City Park in a Fifth Wheel.
