This is a medium-sized RV park with mostly pull-throughs, and is rather old. Yet the management is working hard to update it. Our site was all gravel, with good hookups. Sewer was slightly above ground and a force fit. The showers/bathroom were very dated but clean, as was the good-sized laundry room. There is also a motel on-site. The WiFi was slow but serviceable when it was running (which was about half the time). There is no Verizon 4G, but we did get 5 bars of 3G. The local tower is definitely over-subscribed and slow. If we visit once more Great Basin National Park, we would be happy to stay here again. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

Great Basin National Park! Be sure to reserve the cave tours at least a few days ahead of time. The longer one is the better, but they are both great. They usually have an astronomy night, once a week, and when we were there, there were over 175 people, so it's very popular. We ate at Kerohuac's... pricey and very limited menu but worth it. The coffee at the Magic Bean Coffee Cart was quite good, and they have pastries too.

There is not a lot to choose from in this area, and this is adequate as a jump off spot for the Lehman caves and the Great Basin National Park. Dirt, few trees, kinda dusty, but wouldn't expect much more in this area. Sites are a little hard to figure out and some are close together and not very level. Right "in town" which means there are a couple businesses close by. Bathrooms are nothing fancy or new, but clean and stocked with paper products. Shower did not look inviting, but would use if we had to! Unique check in -- at the bar. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a great campground if you are visiting Lehman Caves. It isn't a high end resort, but it is the only place in town, and it has everything you need. Management was very accommodating about our check out time, because our cave tour didn't end until 12:30, and check out was at noon. I would stay there again if I were in the area and needed a quick one-night stop with hookups. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you plan to stay in the summer, MAKE RESERVATIONS. It is the only place in town, and they fill up, particularly on the weekends. If you call and get a message, just leave your phone number and they will return your call promptly. If you are going there to visit the caves, make the cave tour reservation before you go. Tours do sell out in the summer, so don't wait till you get there.

This is the only RV park within 30 to 60 miles of the national park that we could find. The park is rustic but did have everything we needed, 50 amp, shower, laundry, full hookups, level site and the managers are very friendly. We would stay here again. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Both restaurants in town were closed on Monday at lunchtime. There is no real market in town so bring what you need. Fuel is high in this community. If you are adventurous be aware that services are minimal if you're injured.

Dirt roads and dirt sites led to dust-but that is to be expected in the desert. This is a decent full hookup park close to the Lehman Caves. Check in was smooth (and unique-it was in a bar). I would stay here again. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Needs a lot of work. Weeds over a foot tall, trash overflowing in bathrooms, bathrooms were not clean and we never saw anyone cleaning them. Wifi was very spotty, working on part time. The ONLY thing this park has going for it is the location close to Great Basin National Park. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

Plan ahead and make reservations for the Cave tours as they tend to sell out. Also the cafe at the Visitor Center is nice. Limited menu but nice. No place decent in Baker so bring your own food.

We arrived around 2 pm and the office in the bar does not open until 4. The on site manager was there but we felt that we woke him up from a nap. They did not have our reservation that was made 5 months earlier. Luckily they did have a site even though the no vacancy sign was lit. A really small and tight campground. We got there before it filled in. We watched as other big campers had to maneuver back and forth to get into their spots. Hookups were good and WiFi spotty. There was junk stored everywhere. If you want full hookups you do not have many choices. If you can handle dry camping go to the National Park campgrounds across the street. We would not stay again. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Basin NM. Make sure you make an online reservation for the caves if you want the full tour. You can go to the visitor center the day of your visit for a tour but it is the shorter tour.

There aren't many options in Baker. If you want full hook-ups, this is really about it. The campground isn't great, but it will do for a couple days while visiting Great Basin NP. The bartender who checked us in was friendly - we did not meet anyone else while there. Sites were ok...not much shade, but there's not many trees in this part of the world. Bathrooms were satisfactory, but we didn't use the showers. Around here, you take what you can get. Your other options for camping in Baker are in the park with no hookups or literally a parking lot with water and electricity. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Kerouac's is a new restaurant in Baker and it is GREAT!! We enjoyed dinner & breakfast here. There really aren't any other options, but we'd choose this place no matter where it is located.

Sites are lose gravel based, not very well marked. Someone did guide us to our site. We stayed two nights. The second day, another rig was put next to ours in an opposite direction, so they could not fully extend their awning. The staff doesn't observe their own 5 mph speed limit. Drive the mules through the campsites kicking up dust. If not for its close approximatity to Great Basin Natonal Park, I wouldn't stay there again. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

All gravel with lots of mature shade trees. Site #12 very level. Definitely recommend pressure regulator for water. I measured 80 lbs. at the hook-up faucet. There is a small laundry. The machines were dirty, and most were tagged out of service. One dryer took the quarters, but did not work. The campground is easily accessible and very convenient to Great Basin NP. But remember you are in the desert. There is a decent gas station about 10 miles away on Hwy. 50. The small grocery near the campground has an extremely limited selection. No other services. We would stay here again if visiting Great Basin NP. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This scruffy but friendly park provides good utilities (excellent water pressure and very good wi-fi). AT&T phone service worked well but there was no AT&T data service in the area. Most of the park is gravel with little definition between interior roads and sites and some areas are more dirt than rock. Our back-in site was very far from level side to side. Many of the pull-through sites have shade from mature trees. The remote area provides dark skies and quiet; the park provides the ability to visit without roughing it. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Since the population of Baker, NV was around 50, I did not have high expectations for this campground. The entire campground including the sites is on packed large rocks making it very rocky to drive through the park.

We had a difficult time leveling our rig. The electrical utilities looked like they were fairly new (20/30/50 amp) and the voltage was good. The sites used to be back to back now just one rig per site. This was probably the reason why there were a number of sewer outlets available for use at each site. The water spigot was very low to the ground and located in the front of the site. We needed 30 feet of water hose to reach our rig. There were a few picnic tables and fire rings scattered around the park.

Almost all of the trees needed pruning to the point where we had to zig zag around the park to avoid the low hanging branches.

The bathhouse contained (2) showers per gender. The laundry room contains (2) washers @ $1.50 per load and (2) dryers also @ $1.50. There were other washers and dryers but they were reserved for the employees. Both the bathhouse and laundry rooms were clean and usable.

WiFi was available within the park but definitely not usable. Verizon air card and cell phone reception was good.

Overall, considering the location, it is not a bad park. I believe that this is the only FHU campground within the town of Baker. Just be aware that this is a "rustic" park. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Due to weather, opted for this location in lieu of forest service campgrounds...not sure i would return. Staff was pleasant, but this place needs some clean up. Buildings definitely patched together, restrooms were relatively clean, but old. Older equipment, building materials, cars randomly parked on perimeter. All sites pretty close, no distinguishing separation other than utility pedestal at back of site. We checked into the site at the bar which is on site. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Motorhome.

Small Park in a very small town. Gravel all around fairly level. All sites are long as they combine two sites that were from the original park for very small RV's and made them into one. Staff is very helpful and nice. There is a bar and motel associated with the RV park. The owners even offered to let us watch TV in one of the motel rooms if our satellite didn't work well enough. All utilities were fine and the wifi was pretty good. Verizon phone service was strong 3G. There is some shade but also open enough to get a good satellite signal. This park is right by the entrance to Great Basin National Park which is probably the only reason this town of 68 people exists. One of the 2 visitor centers for the National Park is within walking distance. In the little town there are 3 bars, 2 restaurants, a self serve gas station, an espresso stand and a grocery store with very limited stock. A good place for a 2 night stay to see Great Basin National Park. Next closest town (Ely) is over 60 miles to the north. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Closest full hookup campground to Great Basin NP. Nice little campground, easy to get into, pull-through sites, $55 for two nights - can't beat the price for full hookups. Bathrooms were clean, but the showers need some attention/updating. The highlight was the manager and her husband - super nice folks. And there's a bar on site with an excellent selection of beer on tap and in the cooler, at great prices - definitely a bonus for a beer snob. One of the sewer connections on the site was blocked off, so we had to move the trailer to reach it after we'd unhooked. 6 miles from the Lehman Caves visitor center and the entrance to the park.

The only thing that bothered me were the family and the car load of college kids that came by the morning we left and used the restroom and shower facilities (the door was not locked) while I was using restroom. We camped at Whispering Elms Campground in a Travel Trailer.
