What a little gem of an RV park! The people were wonderful and helpful. The wifi was fantastic for such an out-of-the way place. The little store had what we needed, it was safe and a real refuge in a nasty windstorm. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

We love to get off of 95 and travel the scenic back-roads of Nevada, always stopping in Dyer at one of our favorite RV Parks. The owner has now built a brand new laundry room and installed BRAND NEW machines! That convenience along with excellent wi fi and Verizon service makes this place an oasis. We appreciate the large pull-through sites too. Great value! We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

If you are looking for quiet, and a view to die for-of the 2nd tallest range in the U.S., the little known, hidden White Mountain Range-then this is the place. But you have to like and appreciate remote too. For it is 56 miles to Big Pine, and 72 miles major shopping in Bishop CA and you have to go over the Whites to get there. What this park has that no other park in the region has is thick cottonwood trees providing complete canopy of half the sites and half canopy over the others-imperative in the heat of summer. This canopy really cools the interior of RVs by as much as 15 degrees. They have great cute cabins and large travel trailers for rent too which the scientists love apparently. The park is modern, newish (12 years old or so), and is kept pristine as the White range that dominates the scenery. The shower house has two nice showers and 2 bathrooms and that are aging relatively well and kept immaculate. Spaces are spacious; no shoehorning into a cramped space, & come with picnic tables. Lots of places to walk the dogs and no fees or limitations on dogs (other than the usual...leashes etc). Wifi is good unless park gets busy, and then it slows. Laundry facilities are the only major ding. A facility across street, one creaky dryer, 3 aging washers. Surrounding are velvet green fields of alfalfa as this is a primarily a ranching community. So you have the snow caps of the Whites (yes, even in late June this year), the blue skies, no pollution, and a darkness at nite that would make astronomers weep. Mustangs dot the hills and in spring, wildflowers! Off roaders are periodic visitors since the off-roading out here is little known but fabulous, so everyone here has a quad or side-by-side. Scientists are frequent visitors to study this fascinating area. The RV park is owned by same owners of the Minimart/gas station next door, so check in there with the friendly ladies. Also check out the adjacent little historical display of old west. We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are several old historic mining sites that arn't on the tourist maps (and thank god) but require 4WD or at least high clearance vehicles to check out (see Red Rock Mine and the B&B mine about 20 miles north near Trail Canyon off Chaitovich Cyn). The Sump is also really fun visit (high clearance vehicle) about 25 miles north. The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Nat'l Forest is at the top of the White Mountains. Many of these trees were ancient when the pyramids of Egypt were being built.

Nicest folks you ever want to meet here! The park is clean and quiet and uniquely located for incredible off road exploration of numerous ghost towns and abandoned mining operations. The owner, is a walking encyclopedia of local history (born and raised native) and she is always happy to share her knowledge. She also has an INCREDIBLE museum of local artifacts and again, she is happy to share her knowledge with anyone who has an interest. The store is well stocked and like the park, very clean and well organized. Everyone we met here is extremely friendly and welcoming. Very good Verizon cell and internet access. We will be back!!! Overall Rating:

Very welcome, totally shaded park after a prior day in the blistering sun of Lake Mead. Only place around the area and it has gas, a store (including liquor) and a cafe (although with very limited hours). The one or two attendants on duty are thoroughly over worked but somehow manage to cut the chafe from the wheat and deal with customers as they are dealt with themselves, so be patient. Gravel road into the park to an almost level gravel site and totally shaded. Power and water good (we use a meter and a filter) but did not use the dump. Huge farmland immediately behind the park with those massive irrigation machines that actually assisted in cooling off the park area. Appears to be a fairly large group activity area for BBQs or whatever, apparently for when the weather is cooler. Nice treat the night we were here, one of the regulars set up a backdrop at one of the unused sites and showed a movie; nice touch! We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

5 RV's from our club stayed 5 days at the Esmeralda RV Park. We like off the beaten path destinations but finding RV Parks in remote destinations is hard. Not the case with this park. They offer a full service park for the traveler. The pads are level on solid sand footing. power was stable and water pressure was very good. The owner of the park was very accommodating. One Motor Home in our group had some conflict with the trees in his spot and the owner came out and cut the offending branches to prevent any damage. I rated this park as a 9, since there are very few 10's anywhere, however being in the remote location that it is it rates as a qualified "10". The nearby mountains offer a great backdrop to the Valley. A western movie night (Saturdays during summer months) was shown in the campground. Our experience was so positive that we all plan to return as individuals or as a group. Should you be traveling to or from Yosemite to Las Vegas, this is an excellent half way point for a one or 2 day stop. We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The associated Market carries a good supply of food and other items. They sell gasoline and diesel. It has a small Deli serving sandwiches. There is a small bar nearby with a few gaming machines. A small laundromat in a converted mobile home is nearby. There is a small fishing pond 15 miles from the park that is truly a "Cast and Catch". Our group of 10 people all caught at least one fish.

Overall Rating:

This is a small, pretty park right next to the highway and central gas station, which is where you go to pay. They suggest reservations in summer. The sites are level dirt with mature shade trees and cute two-person picnic tables. There was noise from the highway, but it's not exactly a busy highway. Some of the spots are long-term and there are some tent and dry sites. The only fault I can find, really, is that the sewer holes are about a foot off the ground, meaning I pretty much had to walk the sewer hoses when I dumped. They could use being buried. We camped at Esmeralda RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.
