Overpriced as most KOA's are. Mostly dirt and gravel. Two very small dog areas. Lots of dust, but this IS the desert. Not much to choose from in this area. OK for one night. We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Gravel interior roads and at sites, some sites with grass areas. Leveling required. Well established and trimmed shade trees and newly planted small pines. Convenient hookups and site width good. Adjacent to highway but noise minimal. Two dog play areas and trash receptacles at edges of the well maintained park. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Like Oriental food? On Great Basin Blvd (US93) near Aultman (US50) the Twin Wok is terrific. They even have a breakfast and lunch buffet, but menu orders for evenings. Excellent prices and generous quantities. Visit the old Downtown Historic Hotel Nevada, watch for numerous murals on the walls throughout town and don't pass up the Northern Nevada Railway museum and steam engine train rides.

This is very basic, but very pretty and peaceful park right on the outskirts of Ely (about 8 min drive to downtown, since Ely is very small). Located in the valley between snowcapped mountains. Front desk staff is very helpful and friendly. Our site was long and wide enough to park our 5th wheel and 2 large vehicles. Shared bathrooms and showers, but spotless and cleaned regularly. There is no clubhouse per se, just the reception area and a small store where you can buy bare necessities and local souvenirs. WiFi for the first couple of days was non existent, but once connected, was more than enough to stream movies, even with full occupancy of the park on Memorial Day weekend. Despite full occupancy that weekend, the park was very quiet and pleasant. We camped for 7 nights and enjoyed it very much - will definitely stay again when in Ely!! We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Check out Nothern Nevada Railroad Museum, weekend train ride and White Pine county museums! For veggie lovers, All Aboard Cafe and Inn offers fresh salad bar and soup combo among their others menu items. Groceries option are limited and somewhat expensive - we found relatively good selection of fresh fruits and vegetables in Ridley's (worth to sign up for free membership to save up)

This RV park was a nice surprise. Very clean. Sites have a lovely view of the mountains. Lots of space, rustic. It's all gravel but the sites are level. The woman in the office was very nice. She asked if we wanted to check out any other sites before unhooking just in case there was one we liked better which I though was very kind of her. Definitely would stay again. We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is located to the south of town - easy to get in and out of. Lots of full-timers, but also plenty of in-transit travelers with big motorhomes and 5th wheelers. Crappy AT&T cell service (1 or 2 bars of 3G), and the WiFi was nothing to brag about. No cable TV, but we picked up over a dozen digital TV stations. Would return if passing through. A bit of a hoof to dump trash if you're spot is in the middle of the site. Very nice office/store with lots of stuff to buy. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Had a very good dinner at the Jailhouse Restaurant downtown. If you can, stock up on groceries before reaching town, as the only "supermarket" in Ely (Ridley's) is pretty disgusting and high-priced. Very nice and new Love's gas stop is super easy to get gas and maneuver a big rig with toad around.

A very nice KOA with most of the amenities we look for in a park. There are three rows of pull through sites for travelers with varying lengths and widths. Utilities were good, had no problem with leveling, and plenty of room for all 4 slides. Good reception for our Verizon MiFi and cellphone. Park roads are gravel which leads to dusty conditions when it is windy. Everyone in the office was friendly and helpful. Store has RV supplies, food stuffs, toys, gifts, etc. Propane available. Laundry room was clean and well maintained.

Park filled up every night we were here; so reservations definitely in order this time of year. Many use this park for riding their ATVs from park out onto various trails. We used it as base for exploring old mining/ghost towns. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.

Cellblock Steak House at the Jail House Casino was very good. Easy day trips out to Hamilton ghost town, Belmont Mill, and Ward Charcoal Ovens. There are many geocaches in the area that take you to historic town sites and cemeteries.

I liked this park. It looks nice, has a good view and a good location just south of town. There are trees big enough to give shade, although they can be in the way in places. We were still able to get satellite TV. Our site was rather narrow and not level, but wide enough for slides. Not much room to sit outside. Very nice people in the office. Verizon cell and internet worked. I would stay here again. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.

Better than average KOA. Our site was fairly level. Utilities functioned fine. Wi-fi was just ok, sometimes slowed down or completely dropped off. Nice dog park area. Very friendly, helpful personnel. Nice shade trees but a little trimming back of branches would be in order. Not crazy about KOA prices, but this park seemed to be the best option in the area. Just when we were beginning to believe KOAs we're going downhill, we come upon this gem. Workers were super friendly and welcoming. The park is immaculate, with very spacious roads and sites. Most sites have beautiful shade trees. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ely KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

As they charge more I expect more from KOA. Ely did not deliver. Had to level our trailer side to side. This normally does not rate a mention but the park is on a flat and periodic dressing of the parking surface seems a given. The utilities were OK although the park's drain had a fitting that just slipped in to the pipe. Many parks demand a tight seal, here the park was at fault. Three shower stalls and one was out of order. The one I used had a serious leak at the head fitting that sprayed water into the dressing area. There was always water on the floor outside the dressing area. The office staff was efficient and knowledgeable but were emplyees just doing their job. Overall it is overpriced. We camped at Ely KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Nevada Northern Railroad is a wonderful excursion railroad. The train ride is nice and you get a tour of the repair shops and the museum. This is one of the most extensive railroad history experieces in the country. Ely has its share of casinos, restaurants, a couple of medium sized groceries, a golf course, and the unique service business that is legal in Nevada.

I stayed two nights in site 37 while passing through in a 27 foot motorhome with tow car. Wanted a base to visit Great Basin NP and though this campground is about an hours drive away it advertised shade and had good reviews. Like most parks in Nevada it is mostly gravel but unlike most parks it actually has big trees that provided shade. A couple sites at the end of the rows also had some grass. The park is open all year and extended stay folk are in a couple rows off to themselves on the highway side of park. Middle of park is two rows of full hookup pull through sites that all have some shade and are long enough and wide enough for big rigs with tow cars and trailers hauling ATVs. Back row was water and electric only for smaller RVs. This appears to be a popular ATV area and there are entrances to ATV trails on both sides of the park. However there are ATV rules and the park was quite quiet (I was there on a weekend). Very wide gravel roads made maneuvering inside park very easy. Two fenced dog areas -- one that actually had some irrigated grass instead of just gravel! Also many trails just outside of park for dog walking -- ask at the office. Also has tent camping area and cabins. Wifi was okay -- not great. Verizon was good but slow. Both worked best in early morning and late at night. Water and electric worked well except just when I arrived the power in the entire Ely area went out about 30-40 minutes. Didn't use sewer hookup -- well set up dump site. Didn't use restrooms. Price reflects KOA discount. We camped at Ely KOA in a Motorhome.
