This was a new park about 15 years ago. Have stayed here many times over the years. Could be an 8 or 9 if the owner would do a little more work. Cable TV was spotty, lots of "rain scram" at my site. Park host had no cable at all. Seem to be catering to "squatters" too much now. Very few spaces left over for travelers. The people in space 54 were downright inconsiderate of other visitors, like they were right out of the movie Deliverance. Way too many ATV/UTV running around this park. Noisy and polluting. Most permanent residents do not adhere to RV etiquette. Rate is good here and park is convienient to town and shopping/eats. Spaces are long and level. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed 2 nights, our site was great, level, the view of the mountains was very nice at sunset. The park was clean, laundry was great and the shower were among the best for size and clean! We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
It was nice place to relax and enjoy the area. Great location for outdoor mountain biking, atv trails, hiking, fishing, Walker Lake, wild life viewing, we just enjoyed the peaceful feeling. The Hawthrone Museum, Ordance Museum, horseshoe pits, walking area, not forgetting all spaces were pull through.

Our site was so level we didn't use the jacks! Yay! The park has grown up a little since we were here last. The trees are bigger and offer a little shade. There isn't much to do at the campground but there are a lot of interesting things to see around town, like the military museum and Walker Lake.
The campground is pristine and clean. We love it here at the base of the mountains and we would stay here again and again! What pretty sunsets! And the occasional unexpected rain storm!
Careful: Make certain that they send you a confirmation notice, otherwise you may not get a site! Fortunately, they had a couple of open spaces left, otherwise, even though we had reserved a site online, we'd have been out of luck. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Quick and easy registration with reservation.
Our site was somewhat unlevel. In order to be level, we had quite a step to the ground. As stated before, pads a quite narrow.
WiFi was very slow most of the time. Apparently had to do with how many were on line at the time. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Maggie's Once Again served a great breakfast. Very friendly staff. Park office had a menu.
Safeway is very convenient to the park. The Ordinance Museum is definitely worth a visit.

One night stay between Reno and Lake Mead. Easy in and out off of Hwy 95. Roads are gravel, concrete pad for the RV. Everything else is pretty much either dirt or gravel. Seems to be a fairly new park or just renovated. Not a destination but good for an overnight stay. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

Easy access. Next to Hwy 95 but little or no road noise. The landscaping is awesome - beautiful grass areas and everything maintained perfectly. Most of the pads are concrete and as been noted by other reviewers, they are long and level, but a little narrow. There is reasonable spacing between sites and there are trees between each site. The staff member who checked us seemed genuinely appreciative of our business. Most of the sites are pull-through with concrete pads although there is one row of back-in sites and those sites were gravel. The check-in area and the store were neat as a pin. We didn't check out the restrooms, although I did note what appeared to be a cleaning crew working on them around 10 in the morning and I suspect they are as immaculate as the rest of the park. There is a dog area noted on their site map, but there is ample area all around the park; albeit gravel. They do request customers not allow animals on the grass - and I can understand because it is beautiful and perfectly manicured. We were just passing through enroute Reno, but would definitely stay here again if we venture this way again. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here 4 night during a busy weekend in this little town. Was quiet even tho the park sets next to the road. Friendly & clean. Will definitely return again. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice RV park right off Highway 95, but back enough that noise wasn't an issue. Easy check-in. Staff very friendly. Nice, long level concrete pad but very narrow and a little tricky getting rig and tow situated correctly. Utilities good. Satellite reception no problem. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Walker Lake within view of RV park.

Only stayed one night with Good Sam discount. Office wasn't open quite yet so I checked myself in according to instructions. Huge concrete sites, very easy access, picnic tables. Several dumpsters conveniently placed. Did not use the bath or laundry but both the Wifi and cable were very good. Will stop here again if I am in the area. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

A great overnight stop. With a big rig and tow you can stay hitched up. Nice concrete pad. A welcome find on 95 between Las Vegas and Reno. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Safeway is a block away. If you don't want to walk there is usually room in the parking lot for your rig.

So, this park is out in the middle of no where. But, the sites are level, the WiFi is fine, the electricity is fine and it's clean, neat and well kept. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Not a lot to do here. Mostly an overnight stay for the tired and weary and this park fills that bill nicely.

We have stayed here before and expected a lot of road noise at night, but this time it was not as bad. Gravel access, so unhook your toad at registration. Gravel sites with good utilities and cable tv. Decent Verizon signal. Did not use park WiFi so we cannot comment. No defined pet area or sanitary stations so you are on your own as far as pet clean up. Good park to overnight or get off the road due to weather/wind. We would stay here again. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Grocery shopping is next door at Safeway. If you have time, check out some of the military museums in town.

Pride of ownership definitely shows at this park - it's very well maintained. Sites are pull-thru with cement pads. They're close but each site has a grassy patch and a picnic table as well as a view of the mountain. We purchased propane here. The laundry was bright, spacious and spotless. The men's and women's bathrooms were private and also spotless. It's a great overnight spot and we would definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here a couple of years ago when passing thru. Still as great as then. Sites are long, electric and water are good. Has propane if you need it also.
Have a choice of gravel or concrete to park on. Concrete costs a couple of bucks more.
Will stay here again when passing thru. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good value midway between Vegas & Reno...and an excellent place to stop for the night. Right off 95, easy in and out...concrete pad level sites, good utilities, wifi & cable at a good price. Glad we made this choice and would stay again. We camped at Whiskey Flats RV Park in a Motorhome.
Good Safeway down the street for provisioning needs.
An interesting small town with a few shops and a few restaurants. Lots of old and interesting buildings to see and plenty of old cars to admire. Full-service gas next door with easy access for large RVs. Fast-food shops there but for the most part, bring your own entertainment. Hawthorn is quite remote, but a lovely, mountainous vista all around. The RV park was very busy with overnight visitors, but quiet and restful.george r • April 2015
If you are a geocacher, this is a good base to work the thousands of caches in the area. Overnighting? There are about two dozen caches behind the park in the old Babbitt town site, many are within walking distance. What a history this area had before, during, and after WWII.DiplomatTraveler • April 2015
Ordinance Museum is very nice. Also Walker Lake is close by. The Army Depot is next to the town. Mono Lake is 45 miles away and Yosemite is 62 miles away.USAF1 • April 2015
