Overall Rating:

Disappointed is perhaps the best way to describe our stay here. I understand that the park is under new ownership and efforts are supposedly in place to improve the facility, but until then I have to give Silver City resort a "do not recommend" rating. When we made our reservations by phone, we explained that we were over 60' in combined length and needed to keep our trailer connected as that is how we charge a mobility cart. We told them that our RV was a 43' class A that had to have 50A electrical supply, no exceptions. We were told that the pull thru sites were all 65' long with 50A available. So, imagine our surprise upon arrival to find out that the site we needed was unavailable as the owner was putting his RV there. Not even remotely true. The owner is off property and was not expected. Then they found a site that would be just fine. Not even close. Our coach is 43', the site has only 44' useable space as the parking pad drops off too steeply to be even remotely useable. They told us we could keep the trailer hooked up and let it hang over into the parking lot since we were an end space and the trailer would not block anything. Then the people at registration inform me that we could not run any more than two a/c units as they have insufficient power and "too many big rigs" at the campground to provide sufficient power to everyone. The daily temperatures were 96 to 99 degrees. Unacceptable. We were then told that the site we were to occupy really shouldn't even be used because of the chronic electrical issues there. We pulled in since that was all they had available after screwing up our reservation. The power "browns out" with one a/c on. We've had to use the generator to keep cool. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

Have stayed here several times, mostly as an overnight stop in the spring heading north and in the fall heading south. Facilities have never been special and may have deteriorated a little in recent years. Parking is on concrete drive-through strips, otherwise the surface in the park is gravel. Most sites have some broken or spalled concrete, and the asphalt in the roads needs some maintenance badly. All utilities are at the back end of the site close to the road. That makes for a very long sewer hookup. Able to avoid using sewer here for one night stay. Attractions for us have been diesel pumps where we could fuel with the trailer attached, some long, flat sites where we could stay hooked up, and a reasonable price. It has always had highway noise, no ambience, and no good place to exercise a large dog (yellow lab). Most of their business appears to be monthly residents. As others have noted recently the fuel station is gone and the prices are quite a bit higher under the new owner. I think the office staff is getting weary of questions about the fuel and the cost. The guys who led us to the site were friendly. For highway travelers this was a mediocre facility that has gone downhill. The new owners' business plan isn't aimed at customers like us. We won't stay there again. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We only disconnected truck long enough to go elsewhere for fuel. In the past we have stopped at Costco here and have eaten at Olive Garden.

Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

The office staff was very nice on the phone when I called for my reservation. After telling them 3 times how long my truck/trailer combo was, they assured me there would be no problem. After all, they advertise 70' pull thru sites. The advertised rate on their website is $39.95 - it's now gone up $10. I was told it was because of new owners. At less than 60' total, I had to disconnect my tow vehicle. The site was so short that my truck stuck out in the roadway so no one else could have gotten by. Also, the sewer connection is at the very back of the site. At this time (April, 2018) the fuel station at the front of the property is not open and has been dismantled with a chain link fence surrounding what used to be. The interior roads are narrow and the sites are straight in, not at an angle. Makes it very hard for a longer rig to navigate. Because of the large chain link area at the front, be sure to survey how you are going to exit when you leave. I will certainly find a different park if ever in the area. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Good points: Fuel station on property. Close to shopping; Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Trader Joe's, PetSmart, Petco & several restaurants, chains and local. Beautiful view of snow capped mountains. Nice pool outside & under cover. Nice laundromat. Hookups conveniently placed. Site level. Nice picnic table. Almost all sites satellite friendly. Bad points: Infrastructure does not support electrical demand. Unable to run both air conditioners. Yes, it was hot (mid 90s), but it is Nevada. That is not unusual for the summer months. We were basically limited to 30 amps while paying for 50. We had to run our generator in late afternoon instead of the electric. When we asked in the office when we first encountered the problem they denied there was a problem and said it must be our RV. Only when neighbors noticed when someone came out to our site to look at the electric and said they also could run only one air conditioner or run their generators did the office personnel admit their infrastructure couldn't support a nearly full park on a hot day. We were then told the park was being sold and it was hoped the new owners would update it. Also, there are a lot of grassy areas in the park but pets are not allowed on any of them. The park boasts of its "dog parks". They are dirt enclosures, no mulch or pine needles or wood chips. You are charged an extra fee for having pets. Cable apparently requires a $75 refundable fee for a box. Not sure how you would return it if you left early before the office opened. We didn't use it. Wi-Fi only works in the office/ lobby. We would not stay here again. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: September, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

It's not bad or horrible, but it is little more than a glorified parking lot with gravel yards that are uncomfortable to walk on and barely adequate pads to park your RV on. The pads aren't "pads" at all in the normal sense - they only cemented the tire tracks and left the center portion open, which they filled with the same gravel I mentioned earlier. That would be fine, I suppose, except that the "tire pads" are so far apart that the feet for my front jacks straddle the inside edge of the cement by exactly half - enough to have done some real damage if I hadn't noticed and put the full weight of the rig on them.

The noise from Hwy 395 is quite loud and there are a ton of full-timers who clearly have more important things to do than maintain their spaces. There is zero aesthetic appeal to any part of this "resort" - it's really just a flat place to park your RV.

At $40 a night with ZERO refunds for any reason, I expect a little more for my money. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Minden and Gardnerville look like cute little towns with lots to explore. Historic Carson City is just up the road. The on-site fuel station had excellent prices for both gas and diesel.

Date of Stay: October, 2014 - $45.00
Overall Rating:

Second time we stayed here. First was about two years ago. It was OK but site wasn't long enough. This time we specifically told them we have a 38 foot long travel trailer and our truck and we didn't want to unhook for the overnight stay. When we arrived they tried to put us in a 40 foot space. When we pointed out the size of our rig they moved us to what they claim was 70 feet long long site, it is if you want 5 or 6 feet hanging in the road. Site was cement and gravel with a small tree and picnic bench. WIFI did not work, called office and they said they were going to send someone over to trouble shoot. He never showed up. When we hooked up the cable it didn't work, again called office. Then they tell us "Oh did you hook up the box? That requires a $75 deposit". They didn't mention that at check-in. I have the Rhino sewer line and could not screw in the adapter because they recessed the drain pipe in cement. They did provide some large rocks to hold down the sewer line. Over all very disappointed. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: September, 2013 - $29.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here in April 2013 (monthly) and for a week in May 2013. We were going to stay again in September but they would not honor the internet price they had advertized. In May, the internet rate was listed as $165/week. In September, it was the same. We were told both times that the rate had JUST increased. We fell for it in May and paid it. We didn't stay there in September because they were aware of the discrepancy in May and didn't fix it. We felt that was deceptive. Too bad, because the place meets our basic needs when we visit relatives in the area several times per year. Pros: quiet, close to Carson City, full time residents are friendly don't have lots of junk spread around their sites. They keep it pretty clean. Cons: no shade, very windy (area in general), staff not knowledgeable about which sites are appropriate for RVs with slides. If you stay here, visually confirm that the site will be ok for your vehicle. Price discrepancy we thought sloppy at best and deceptive at worst. We will not be staying here again. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Very poor quality Wi Fi, which we paid $5 extra for 4 hours, plus the charge daily for cable. The site was not level, and rather smallish lengthwise. I would stay elsewhere next time. We camped at Silver City RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Very poor management. I would not recommend if you are looking for cleanliness. Cleaning lady spends all her time hiding in laundry when she should be cleaning. You have to avoid using laundry at that time or will be bothered. Also, handicap ladie's room has been out of order for some time. Now the 2nd of 4 toilets are broke in same rest room. I went to use the sink in ladie's room once & a beagle was tied up to faucet. Was glad to leave. The staff that works in the store are good, except for women who appears to be in charged.
