Date of Stay: November, 2018 - $24.00
Overall Rating:

We've stayed here many times over the years, and the service and facilities have been consistently outstanding. Professional, friendly check in with welcome package and escort to site, which this time was the "legacy" or older section which we prefer. Sites here are in a circle and provide great separation between the level, concrete sites. Nice landscaping with trees and shrubs, but no real obstructions to the TV satellites. No cable but plenty of OTA channels. We couldn't get the park WiFi to connect during our week long stay, but Verizon cell/data were good. Plenty of the "sound of freedom" during the week beginning early in the morning, but quiet at night and on the weekends. One of the best Famcamps in the system. We'll stay here again. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

We use exit 54 off I-15 for access to and from the Famcamp. There's a Petro station near the entrance with both fuel and propane.

We stayed here one night as just an overnight on our way north. It was hot on the way up and hot there. We arrived around 4:30pm to 120 degrees! I say this not to complain, but to set the stage for the great visit we had. We were having roof Air issues on our coach, and the hosts put us in a site that was almost completely shaded. The hosts were super friending and connected us with a great Mobile RV repair service who called us back and trouble shot our roof air issue over the phone. We were even offered cold bags of ice. But back to the park. Our site was #63, a back-in, very level, easy to get into with convenient towed vehicle parking. The site was very clean and had some grass and a picnic table. Good electricity. The wifi connected very easy and the internet was speedy and perfect for e-mail and web browsing. We did not try any satellite. We had good version reception. We had ready about cleanliness and bathroom issues but we thought they were very clean and well kept. There is a very nice office with computers, tables and relaxing chairs. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

After a medical emergency in northern Nevada, we headed south to get to a friend's home in Arizona. Along the way, we stayed one night at the Desert Eagle RV Park. My friend is retired military, so we used his pass to stay at the park. It is nicely landscaped and with clean restrooms and showers. The picnic tables are metal and looked new. The sites are level and concrete. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2018 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

They have recently expanded this park, we stayed in the "Premier" part (which is the older part with trees). Very long pull through site with a combined concrete pad and gravel. Utilities are widely spaced apart, strange but we made it work. Up to 108 in early June and we had shade for the morning, but the trees for the PM were not located to shade us - made for a pretty work trailer and panting puppies. The WiFi towers are plenty BUT it didn't work well, log in and get dropped immediately by EVERY tower. OTA TV was great without even adjusting the antenna direction. Their fenced dog area, near the front is great, we drove the dogs there and they had a ball. Older but good showers and laundry right behind us. Have to say for the price a good park, but could use more shade for the hot summers (they are planted), better WiFi (out for bid to upgrade) and more grass in the Premier area. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Great place if you want somewhere away from the Vegas madhouse. It is under the Nellis flightpath but we didn't have any at night and a few during the day. Well laid out, spacious sites with trees and level sites. FHU - all worked great. We had a pull through site and would definitely stay here again !! One of my favorite RV parks. The staff is friendly and goes out of their way to make sure your questions are answered Easy to drive to and the park is easy to navigate. Sites are spacious and have shade. Dog park is large with grass and plenty of space for a Labrador to catch a ball. They have remodeled the park since our last stay and added several new sites. I prefer the larger trees in the older sites. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

DH is retired military and likes the "home" feel of a base famcamp. This is an excellent one, easy to get in and out of, very clean, even free ice cream at happy hour time! We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

The staff here are spectacular! Other FamCamp/military RV parks should come here for training on how to do it right. The price per night is approximate and includes a one time charge of $40.00 for Frequent Camper Kit and the resultant reduction in charges for using the kit. Our 4 night total was $106.00. The Frequent Camper Kit is a program for military RV parks but this was the first time in 5 years of full time RVing to lots of military parks that we were made aware of this great program. Our only complaint about the park is that once again an expansion program (over 100 new sites) was done by people who would appear to not have any idea on how to build an RV park. The pull through site we are in is 46' long which makes it impossible to park our truck in front of or behind our 39' fifth wheel. They are also very narrow with only 6' or so between our picnic table and the next camper. We have to park the truck very close to our slideout and still stick out into the traffic lane. Additionally, the sewer hook up is way toward the rear of the site and absolutely requires the use of 2 or 3 sewer lines. I don't understand why new construction made these errors but they did. Other than the small sites it is a great park. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful base campground with plenty of palm trees and shade. They are expanding the campground, so the new area may not have as much shade. Sites were easy to access and were level. Hookups were conveniently located. Good spacing between spots. Very clean, well-maintained park. It is not located on the main part of base. We would definitely stay here again. This is a great park! Staff is mostly friendly and helpful, Secure on base and close to BX/Commissary. Sites are a bit close together, but level and have full hookups. Dog park is spacious but with their expansion they could use another one. Fighters flying over a lot which can make for some noisy moments. For vegas at this price, a no-brainer. We had a back-in site just long enough for our truck and 5th wheel. Had full hookups. Nice sites all in wagon wheel configuration making it a little tight backing in. Note that there are very few pull-thru sites. Good dog walks all around. Only negative was the fly boys with their jets going overhead quite a bit. No cable or wifi, but AT&T cell worked great. Redbox and cheap fuel just outside the park. Note...you have to be military/DoD active or retired to use this park. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Fifth Wheel.

One of the nicest military camp we have stayed. Spacious concrete sites are pull thru or back in. Lots of trees, large grassy dog park, walking path, room to ride your bike, free wi-fi, playground. About 15 min from the strip and about a mile from the Las Vegas Speedway. Close to Red Rock Canyons, Mt. Charleston and an easy day trip to Death Valley. This park is a 10 !!!! We stayed at Desert Eagle for a week. We had a spacious, landscaped campsite with designated parking spaces for both a vehicle and motorcycle trailer. Ours was a back in site, but we noticed several nice pull through sites, too. Back in was easy onto a concrete pad with full hookups.
We arrived prior to office closing, but it's important to note that if you arrive after 7:00pm, there isn't an option to go to the campground. Posted instructions are to park in designated parking areas in front of the office until office opening hours the following morning.
Office staff are efficient and knowledgeable. Access is easy and it's clear that Nellis and the USAF have invested in making Desert Eagle a destination campground. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Like another reviewer, I was disappointed with how the waiting list for full hookup sites was never clearly described. We were never advised that the waiting list started on the arrival date instead of the reservation date, and it was never clear how the waiting list worked. We spent ten days in the partial hookup loop, with shared electric (1 30A;, 1 50A) and water. The sites (circles), like the full-hookup sites, are built on the former mobile home area and have a strange, but usable configuration. As the park becomes more popular, it would be helpful to have a transparent system for the full hookup sites to avoid misunderstandings. The park staff was professional and helpful, and the facilities are still some of the best in the system. WiFi worked well for us, and being on the edge of an urban area, Verizon cell/data and OTA TV was excellent. A great secure location with fairly easy access to shopping and dining, it remains one of our favorite parks. We camped at Desert Eagle RV Park (Military FamCamp) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The new 215 loop provides fast and easy access to northern and western Las Vegas and is easy to access from the base. To visit the strip, park at the Westgate hotel off Sahara and use their monorail station. Parking is free and the monorail provides fast and easy access to the major strip attractions.
