One of the things you have to remember is the price is based on Hot August nights. All the RV parks raise the rates to the events that come to town; this is where they make their money. This park is an old park that basically has Band-Aids holding it together. It would not surprise me to see it disappear, but during events it is fully packed. By the way, we had a back-in 30 amp so we are even more restricted during hot weather. It does get very trying. This time we only had the park's power trip three times on one particular day. Other than that it seemed to be steady. We did have the park's sewer back up at our site, which created a interesting scenario at about 10:30 in the evening, sewage everywhere. The park had to come the next morning with a commercial snake to get it unplugged. I had already bought the bleach to clean the area up even though it was no fault of mine. Convenience definitely has its price and this is just an example when you're in Reno for what you will pay to accommodate your particular interest. The laundry room is very clean. The park overall is clean but when completely full it does get tested by the amount of people that utilize the park. We will continue to use this park when they have a event. We were already forewarned that rates were going to go up next year for this event so we shall see. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

If your diet can handle it you must go to the old Nugget downtown and try the Awful Awful burger!!! It puts the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas to shame, LOL. My wife and I split it and then we're good for a year.

We were here for a week at a submarine veterans convention. TV on the antenna and wifi were good. Very high water pressure so use a reducer. We had a gravel pull through that was ok. 30 amp service was spotty and one night it kept on going out. The park attendant was useless in getting help so I had to call reservations to get maintenance out here. The problem is the park was built in 1979 when RV's didn't need higher amperage. With hot weather and larger RV's, 30 amps just can't cut it. I've been told management is aware of the problem but refuses to do anything about it. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

The person who referred us to this park said it was "ok" and that is a good description. We are in a 50 amp pull through at the front of the park and our site is dead level. This may vary as we watched a MH drive onto blocks before he leveled with air bags. The power is clean and strong, the water pressure is fierce and Verizon works well. Our site is long and wide. The laundry is clean but many of the machines are past retirement age. There are several long term residents spread around but lots of us here for a few days or a week as well.
The park is behind the casino with the airport not too far away. They must vary the flight paths or I have been rv'ing too long because I only occasionally notice them. The sites in the front section are all paved but there is a mix in the back section. The road around the casino is a bit lumpy bumpy with a sprinkling of speed bumps. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

GSR RV Park was actually a pleasant surprise for us. We just needed long enough space to park in overnight and it was so nice we ended up staying two nights. The park is not a resort by any stretch of the imagination, but the concrete sites are long, wide and level, the power and water are excellent (see "Tips" below) and the customer service was very satisfactory.

The laundry looked nice and clean but the "store" doesn't carry much, so come prepared to go shopping in town if you forget anything. Our site - #510 - was right on the end of a row so we had a fairly unobstructed view of the snow-capped Sierra's, which was nice, but I doubt everyone had the same view if someone was parked next to them.

There is a bit of road noise from an access road in the back (because our site on the end of a row was so close to it), and the park is situated near the near of the end of the take-off runway for the airport, so we did hear a few big jets flyover - but not bad enough to keep us awake at night.

All in all, a very good park to stay in for a few nights. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We were warned when checking in that the water pressure is "about 100 psi" which is enough to blow the pipes out of any rig. We don't hook up directly to water - we fill out tanks and use our onboard pump - so it wasn't an issue for us, but if you do make sure you use a quality pressure regulator.

We use this park exclusively now for hot August nights, convenience, price, and plenty a room to get around. We did have to skip this year because of commitments back east so we only stayed one night so our reservations were held for next year(very accommodating). One thing I did notice we stayed further back in the park then we normally stay and you could hear the air traffic overhead which really surprised me, try to get up closer to the front of the RV park and you will eliminate this option. Price included tax with a good Sam discount, we will be back. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here one night on our way to Las Vegas. It's your average casino rv park, one big cement parking lot. Some sites did have trees. Try to stay toward the front of the park in the pull through sites. They are much cleaner and better maintained. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

DO NOT USE the Sweets mobile rv service advertised in the rv park brochure. We called him for a plumbing issue. Not only did he NOT fix the issue, but charged us $90 for the service call after he stated that's why he usually doesn't work on plumbing problems. BIGGEST RIP OFF EVER!!

It was obvious that at one point this was a KOA park as there are still KOA signs on some of the electrical boxes. Basically, this is a big parking lot. The sites were level and the utilities were fine. They do have a shuttle service that takes you to the casino. The buffet was great! Note, your GPS may not be able to locate the entrance to this campground. Ours told us arriving at destination on the right when in fact it was on the left and we had already passed it. Lots of traffic in the area and turning around is nearly impossible. It's not well marked and even once you enter the property, indecision sets in because there are so many different directions you can turn. Park on the casino grounds in downtown Reno. All paved and full services. Current construction activities make in/out slower, but still convenient right beside the Interstate. The park is quiet and well served by security and shuttle services. The casino has a full range of activities for kids and adults. Restaurants are everywhere and the casino's buffet is very popular. Tips for other Campers:

Major shopping all around. National Automobile Museum, State History Museum and the old US Mint in Carson City, the Donner Pass Museum, the Nevada Railroad Museum in Carson City, art museum in downtown Reno and the Historical Society Museum on the UNR campus. The old Bonanza film set at Tahoe is closed. Cruise Tahoe to see beautiful Emerald Bay. Visit Virginia City's ancient stores and shops to explore the Comstock Mine history. Reno is really a fun, family vacation area.

We stay here during Hot August Nights, which is very busy and some what expensive but you take what you can get. We had a 30 amp back-in, which was fine but as the week went on and the park became full we started to have electrical problems. So long story short, we were comped almost $90.00 to bring our weekly rate down. I feel like there is no upkeep here just enough to keep it going and when it breaks, Bandaid it. But for now it works and very convenient and you do have access to all the hotel pool etc. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Close to downtown, $10 cab ride. Good power. Big wide sites to handle any rig/trailer. Lots of traffic into the airport--fun to watch. Long walk to the pool/casino. 100 PSI water, lousy Wi-Fi. Need shortcut to casino. We will be back. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate paid is based upon one week stay. Good basic RV park. Roads and sites are paved. You get access to the very nice pool facility and other amenities at the resort. Park is right next to the Truckee River with a short paved path good for walking dogs. Verizon signal is pretty slow. Did not try the parks wifi. Good laundry facilities. Just a little road noise because the park is in the middle of the city. Sometimes the planes fly right over the resort, but not often. I always return here. It's a nice place to park and visit the amenities of Reno. I used to always visit the spa in the hotel however due to the recent rehab of the facility their prices for use have tripled. You can do better in town. There's a river path next to the place that goes up and down the river. In the summer there are lots of homeless men hanging out, not so much in the winter. My dog enjoyed it. Nice RV park, $30 for 30amp and $37 for 50amps. The water pressure is 100 psi so be sure to bring a water regulator. The office staff was very nice. When we called for a reservation we were told there were no 50 amps available but when we got here I asked again and they gave us the one right across from the office so it pays to check when you arrive. All sites are concrete and very wide. You have enough room for your slides, awnings and a small car/jeep. We would stay here again if in the area. Easy check in and spacious. No frills, but the people working here are very nice. This park is associated with the Grand Sierra Casino Resort so everything is right there (gambling, beautiful pool, shopping, bowling, theaters, many restaurants, hair salon, music venue, shows...) as well as the airport. It was fun to watch the planes land, and I don't recall being bothered by aircraft noise. Very pet friendly. Would stay here again, and planing to return next summer with the grand kids. They have high pressure water, so make sure you come with a water regulator or they can sell you one. You must have one or you can end up with costly damage to your rig. Very nice campground. The spaces were very wide, so there was a lot of room for slides, awnings and privacy. The restrooms were clean but the floors of the showers were peeling and needed to be re-done. We had full use of the hotel amenities like the very large pool and casino. The pool was in the full sun and the only way to get shade was to rent a cabana, which wasn't cheap. They needed some tables with umbrellas, for no charge. They need to put in cable TV - everything else was so nice, it was strange not to have it. We stayed for 11 days and it was very enjoyable. We camped at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino RV Park in a Motorhome.
