Impressed with this park. Very clean and rate is reasonable. No water or sewer at our site, but dump out station is available. Lobster bake going on here this Saturday night with live music. Site we are in is very spacious. Not a whole lot to do on the island other than the Rosavelt park and a few site seeing spots. Incredible beaches and spacious parks. Great place to visit for a quick trip. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an older but well maintained park located on Campobello Island, NB the summer home of FDR. Our site 38 was not level but manageable with 30 amp electric, water spigots are available through out the park. Staff was extemely helpful and park was clean. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Rate is for seniors in US dollars. This is a very nice provincial park and the staff is eager to be of assistance. There are 2 areas, one for tents and another with pull through sites and 30A power for RVs. About 1/2 of the RV sites are in the trees and the other 1/2 are in an open sunny area if satellite reception is necessary or for larger rigs that could be brushed by the branches. The trees appear to be trimmed and were not a problem for us. The RV sites were quite level. My ratings are based on the knowledge that these are electric only sites. Those requiring other amenities might consider elsewhere. We were unable to find any OTA TV stations. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to the Roosevelt cottage and a grocery store. Campobello can be accessed by bridge from Lubec, Maine or a small car ferry from Eastport (out of service in 2017) and another ferry from Deer Island, New Brunswick. Drive to the northern tip of Campobello to view Head Harbor Lightstation and possibly some whales in the channel.

This is a very nice campground on Campobello Island, Canada, that has an open area campground, mature wooded campsites, and tent sites. We were in a very nice private wooded site with electric only. There is no water at the sites but it is available along with a dump. There is no fuel on the island so fill up before crossing the border. There is a well stocked grocery store on the Island. Ranked as "Good" since electric only but truly a nice campground on a beautiful island. For the golfers there is a golf course adjacent to the campground. There is also a variety of restaurants from home cooking to a bit higher up the scale. Not to be missed is the ability to walk out to the lighthouse at low tide! Herring Cove Beach Tides are amazing! We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Family Fisheries is the best home cooking restaurant on the Island. The Lobster Stew is not to be missed along with their Turkey Soup. Jocie's Place, coffee shop & bakery, is an exceptional coffee/tea shop. "Tea with Eleanor" Roosevelt was a very nice historical experience - check with the Park Service for times. Fireside Restaurant was just nice - nothing special but had good soup. Herring Cove Restaurant was just OK.

Overall Rating:

Nice Provincial Park. The campground is pretty and nicely located to explore the island. We reserved a site in the large open area, where the sites are large and big rig friendly. Sites in other parts of the park, that are best for shorter in height RVs, are even more beautiful (i.e., they are inside the mature forest). The park staff was very nice and friendly.
We walked to beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy, beach and Roosevelt Cottage from the campground. The walking trail to the Roosevelt Cottage was through a wonderful mature forest.
Given our taller height, we needed to zigzag around some tree branches on the island, getting to the park and within the park, but it was doable. The park nicely trimmed the trees in the dump station area, which allowed us to use the dump station when we departed. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate after currency exchange, reservation fee, and 10% senior discount was $23 per night for a seven night stay. Site was a very large grass site with 30amp electric. Our site was located in a large open field with no trees. Other electric sites are available in a forest-like area with narrow roads and low branches. A dump station and water spigots were available in the park. The campground was very quiet at night and the majority of sites were unoccupied. There was no park WiFi and no Verizon cell/MiFi reception in the park. We have Verizon's Travelpass that provides coverage in Canada for $2/day, but coverage was spotty on the island. The visitor center provides free WiFi access and is about 3 miles from the park. DishTV satellite reception was good for #119 and #110 but not #129; therefore, not all channels were available. We would stay here again. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

The walk to Head Harbour Lighthouse, also called East Quoddy, at low tide is a nice adventure. Look for whales just off shore.

A Must stay ! History, scenery, local flavor and a favorable exchange rate (rate listed in US $) make this a Fabulous opportunity in an Excellent campground. No water, sewer or WiFi at any NB provincial parks but good 30a elec. I arrived via the ferry from Deer Island which was a bit pricey with a trailer and then left via bridge back into Maine (free). You could just come and go via bridge but the only way to discover more of New Brunswick is to take the ferry or go all the way around to Calais to enter Canada. This "one way" aspect of visiting this island may be why it had so few visitors in the campground, but the National Park and local island people make it a "must visit" for me ! NO FUEL or real Grocery on the island so plan ahead. I chose a site in the woods, which could be a little tight for maneuvering and level but it worked for me and my 33' 5th wheel. There is also a large open field which would be big rig friendly. Good laundry ($1.50C wash $1.25C dry), excellent clean restrooms and showers, a large pavilion with wood stove and open fire cooking available for groups, mosquitoes (bring your spray), large children's play area and a must visit National Park ! 9 hole golf course 3 min. away, local beach at Friar's Head, fish markets and lots of local flavor. Highly recommend a visit and I would certainly stay again. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A "must visit" National Park, especially if you've ever been to the FDR house in Hyde Park. Bring fuel and food - non available on island.

Senior rate is $25 plus tax (if over age 65), regardless of citizenship. Large, open field allowed USA satellite reception (for us); excellent location for visiting all Campobello attractions. Other favorable comments match our more recent visit -- nice venue and most pleasant staff. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is quite a nice Provincial Park with some very wooded back-in sites and other drive-through sites in an open field area. Roomy bathrooms, fairly clean. Hard to make reservations (no online system) except by waiting until May or June to call, however the park was not full so not a problem. You can walk down to the rocky beach with icy cold water, also to the golf course which has a nice small restaurant with an outdoor deck. Staff was pleasant and had firewood available for sale. We picked up a few Maine TV stations on our antenna. No Wi-Fi, but they will direct you to the local library where you can sit outside and get a signal even when it is closed. Park is convenient to Roosevelt home. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

This park is a hidden gem. Beautiful sites to chose from, very helpful staff and immaculate facilities. We will return. Wish I could find similar sites in my home state. Minus one point for interior roads, which could be graded better. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here for the long weekend in May. had an enjoyable day, beautiful paths that lead to the ocean, large open sites, golfing within walking distance. However found there was very little choice for dining in the area, as well later in the evening staff member joined us at the campfire and after a few drinks (they helped themselves to ours) they then walked off with two of our guest cigarettes. Was not too impressed with the staff but the park is definitely worth returning too. if possible try to take the ferry boat it was a beautiful trip to the island. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Tent.

Not all sites are electric. There are sites with full sun, and sites with full shade. We had a full shade site, it was almost too dark. We were able to pick out our site. The electricity did not work, but it was repaired quickly. Would stay here again if in the area. Restrooms and showers were very clean, and the showers were big. Campobello Island, although in New Brunswick, is reached by bridge via Maine. It is situated at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy, with some impressive tidal whirlpools off one shore. The RV park is well run and nicely laid out. There are both open and shaded sites. The grounds are well maintained and the campground abuts a picnic area on the shore. There is an easy walk to a long, cobble-stone beach, as well as a series of day hikes out of the park itself. Herring Cove comes with it's own 9-hole golf course, which is usually devoid of people (a great place for golfers like us to play!). Some of the holes have spectacular views of the Bay. The island itself is very low key (no water slides or McD.s in this place!) with good bike riding on the little-traveled roads. Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt's summer home is on the island and is open to the public in the summer and fall. It's a very interesting tour and provides a good look back in time. There is one small grocery store on the island, so stock up in Machias before you cross the bridge. We camped at Herring Cove Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.
