Overnight Stop, Large Gravel Parking Lot.

We were traveling between Prince Edward Island and Campobello Island (including two border crossings). Since we knew it would rain on the second day, we were looking for an overnight stop that was close to either Route 1 or Route 2 that could accommodate our RV hooked-up overnight (i.e., we would choose a long single-day drive over hooking-up in the rain on the second morning).

I initially discounted this campground due to comments about the site lengths, but I did notice on google earth that an RV of our size was hooked-up in one of the sites. When I called the campground, they said they had a double-site that was available and would accommodate us (30 amp and water). We arrived to be told by a different person that the double site was reserved under another person's name and we were given a less desirable location (which flooded due to the overnight rain). Ultimately the double site that were supposed to be in (and several others double sites in the same location) remained empty overnight-a little frustrating, but we did accomplish our goal to stay hooked-up overnight. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground is essentially a gravel lot, but the location and proximity to Saint John make it a worthwhile value. At 43' we were probably too long for the sites; we stuck out a little from the gravel area that was the campsite into the gravel area that was the road - but there was enough room to pass by. Since no one was in the site behind our assigned site when we arrived, the office person told us to drive through which made it like a pull-through on our arrival. As others have said, there was one area for the utilities shared by 4 RVs, so it was on the wrong side for 2 of them, and far enough away to need extension devices for us to use the water and the sewer. We did not have an extra sewer hose, so on our last day, we backed up into the site behind us to get our wet bay closer to the sewer hookup (the RV behind had left) and dumped before leaving. There was also a dump station, but getting our 43' rig to it would have taken some maneuvering from our site. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Make sure you see the Reversing Rapids (may be referred to as "reversing falls" in some literature) at both high and low tide and from both the visitor's center and Fallsview Park.

This is an RV park inside a GORGEOUS, huge city park with paths and lakes, etc.. Well groomed City Park. I believe the office is run by volunteers. It is a gravel lot surrounded by lush trees. The RV park was pretty full most of the time. It is nothing special, but very adequate for a stay to see Saint John. Lilly's is a non profit restaurant inside the park too. It's a 5 minute walk from the RV park. Kids under 10 eat free on Sunday with purchase of two entrees, at least when we were there, but it looks like a permanent time on the menu. It is worth a stay. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Eat at Lily's in the park. Make sure to find out when high and low tide is and go to see the Reversing Falls...they are really cascades as I would call them, but wild cascades. See it at high or slack tide and then again at low tide. It really is amazing and a phenomenal that does not happen anywhere else. Walk and bike the park. Its beautiful.

Rockwood Park itself is a very pretty park, however, the campground is a gravel parking lot. It is conveniently located close to downtown St. John. Getting into the park is challenging with several tight turns onto very narrow roadways once you leave Trans Canada Highway 1. There are also branches from a weeping willow that extend out into the lane where coaches must park when checking in. Only 30 amp power is available. Back in sites are very wide, but short so you must park your car next to your coach. Not all sites have sewer and you may have to wait until you arrive to find out if you will have a sewer connection. The sewers are located at the very rear of the site and you will need at least 25 feet or more of sewer hose to connect. A travel companion did not have enough hose to reach his connection. We needed two sections. Water pressure varies but tends to be low most of the time. Internet service is excellent and Verizon works fine if you have the International Plan. Satellite reception (Direct TV) is excellent (no trees in the gravel parking lot), and two local TV channels can be picked up (no cable.) We did not use the restrooms and showers but I did check them out and they were clean but not fancy. Plastic shower curtains. Despite the negatives, the park is adequate and if you are here to sightsee you won't be spending much time in the park anyway. We would stay here again because of its convenient location. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to see the reversing falls at low tide and high tide. The contrast is amazing. And if you take a day trip to St. Andrews (one hour) be sure to see Minister's Island where Canadian National Railway president William Van Horne built a 50 room "summer" home in 1890 which is open to the public. You can only reach the island for a few hours either side of low tide because you drive on the ocean floor to get there.

Nightly cost is a guesstimate. We stayed here as part of a caravan. This is a campground within a large city park. A nice facility with roomy sites. Wifi was weak, we had to walk to the close by laundry room for a useable signal. Sites were level and all hookups worked well. Cell phone usage required roaming on a Canadian system, but worked well when doing so. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

St Johns is a decent sizes town with a Costco that came in handy, however be aware that the few Costco's in Canada don't sell liquor at their locations.

Be sure to check out Reversing Falls where the water flow changes dramatically at tide changes.

Like the other reviewers have said, it is a gravel parking lot with full services available. Some pull thrus. There are some view sites with grass and trees, but appear as most are taken up by annuals. They also have to put with the noise of the rail yard below. Could be quite noisy, beware if asking for a view site. Bathrooms & showers are clean. Value is good as it is close to town. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park is close to town and local attractions. Elec. hookups were on wrong side at site, one pedestal for multipal sites. WiFi extremely poor, good level gravel sites, Low water pressure, no shade, 2 antenna TV stations, 30 amp only. Laundry was fine - 2 lunies to wash and 2 to dry. Park price seems a bit high but it is very convenient location. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This flat, gavel parking lot gives a base for enjoying the surrounding park and the city. Sites are wide but not particularly deep and include a picnic table. Sewer connection at back of rig is a bit of a stretch, and elevated 6" above ground for a low slope from the outlet on my RV, so I didn't bother, and just emptied at the dump station on the way out. Electric and water are on two separate posts, each serving 4 sites, so the cord and hose runs are pretty long. WiFi signal was strong, but throughput was abysmal to non-existent. Toilet, shower, and laundry facilities are available, but we didn't use them. Pricing was about midrange for the amenities provided. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed two nights with Winnebago tour group. Rained, so didn't get chance to walk park. Huge park with varied outdoor activities. Bigger than Central Park NY. The sites are gravel.

Very clean after rain storm!

The downside is for folks who need to use the Internet, the Wi-Fi connection is very poor especially when a few get on it. Didn't connect one night at all. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a city park, mostly just a gravel parking lot with full hook-ups. The park is good location for touring St. John New Brunswick and short drive to ferry to Digby Nova Scotia. Good walking trail for hiking and for dog walking. We would stay here again for its convenient location. Given that we had spent a lot of time in rainy weather, we did not mind the openness of the sites. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Sites were all gravel with no trees, which was not a problem in September, but I'd be hesitant to stay in the summer with little shade. The park was a bit on the noisy side, but that is to be expected when staying in a city campground. Overall a good location to visit the Bay of Fundy and the Reversing Falls. Our stay was to short to take advantage of the zoo, golf course, or bike trails that are in the park. The signs for finding the campground could be better, but the proper GPS settings would do that. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park and very convenient to the city. All gravel sites but clean and good size. Water and power were good. We found this park quiet but we were there in the middle of the week and there were not a lot of campers around. We would stay here again. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Good for walking, biking ,kayaking, golf, in a huge park 10 minutes from downtown Saint John. Big rig sites are basically a gravel parking lot, no more. Wi-Fi horrible. We paid weekly rate, stayed here too long unless you are really into hiking the many trails. Good stopover location if touring the Fundy coast. Campground not scenic at all but the rest of the park is. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped here on our way to Maine as an overnight. It works for us as the park is not crowded so there is plenty of room to pull in and not have to unhook. The water/sewer was good. Only 30 amp service is available. The Wi-Fi works best in the laundry room, otherwise did not work for us. Restrooms/showers are clean but dated. Park is not far off the highway, which we liked. We were here directly after the Tropical Storm Arthur and while there were some puddles, it was not flooded at all. If you come, take a walk to the top of the hill where the flags are as you can see for miles, including the harbor. We would stay overnight again. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a gravel parking lot with very wide but short sites. Connections are poorly placed and can be very hard to hook up. Rain meant we had a two inch deep puddle of water at the door since the sites are sloped toward the front. Wifi was terrible, water pressure was 20 psi. Not a nice place to spend time, but good for overnight. Hard to get to since the roads are not in the GPS database correctly and the streets are poorly marked. This park is in the city so it is a short drive to downtown St John. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.
