Friendly check-in with discounted tickets to restaurant in the park. Big, pretty park with many walking paths. Pull through with full hook-ups on gravel, level site. Parking direction of pull through sites alternate direction, so your door opens to neighbor's picnic table. Sites are close but fairly wide. While Wi-Fi is provided, we could not get it to work reliably. Open view to the sky for satellite but couldn't get any over the air stations. We would return. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Spent three nights here while exploring Saint John. As per previous reviews, this campground is pretty much a gravel parking lot. We were assigned a site overlooking the city with a fantastic view. However, there was some noise from the traffic below. But once we turned off the lights....we didn't hear anything. We had a 3-way site (W/S/E) and all utilities were adequate, although the electric (30-amp) was a bit low. We hooked up our auto-former and had plenty of power. We had one channel of OTA TV that came in good. A second was hit or miss. There was a caravan in while we were there, but Wi-Fi was good. We didn't used the washrooms, but they looked OK, except for the frog in the ladies shower. We would stay here again. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Wow, so many things to see in Saint John...City Market and Market square. Take a trolley tour. There is a walking tour tour. Eat at Lily's, just a short drive from camp, you'll pass it on your way in.

Well...at $40C & $30US I guess I can't complain too much but this park depressed me. Grass areas were unkempt, had to change sites to get one that was level. 4 back in sites share 1 30amp utility pole...no way to lock surge protetor to a piece of lumber. needed all 20 feet of sewer hose to reach the uphill outlet. Bathrooms and showers were kept clean but very dilapidated. Wifi was unreliable to unavailable depending on the time of day. Laundry was good at 4 loonies to wash & dry. The best things about this campground is that it sits in a huge park which IS well kept and quite nice AND it is minutes from downtown and anything else in the area. Nice big sites...unshaded.This is the only close in park to St. Johns and is acceptable so we'd come again. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

See the reversing falls (rapids...not really falls) about 5-10 minutes away. Best time to view is 3-4 hours AFTER low tide to see incoming tide reverse the river flow. It is NOT spectacular...but it is neat!

We paid $40 Canadian which converted to appx. $32 US at the time of our stay. We had a site in a row of nice wide level pull thru's. All hookups were on the correct side for us. As mentioned, many sites may share electric posts. These were mostly reserved for caravans. Most sites are very level, but there are a few back in sites around the perimeter that have some grade. We were able to get 1 OTA TV station, but only on our smaller bedroom TV. The signal was not strong enough for a good picture on big TV in the main living area. The wifi could really bog down when a caravan was getting assembled. But was pretty good after they left. If leaving on north bound NB-1, take a left out of the park and the right exit loop for rte 100 and immediately take right loop back onto the same road (Crowne), entrance ramp to CA-1 N is right there. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Campground is on the edge of Saint John. The Rockwood Park is very large and has swimming beaches, good hiking trails, a restaurants, and the campground. The park portion is very nice. The campground is adequate for a short stay. It is really a large gravel area with hookups. As others have addressed, it is initially confusing about how to park. When we were there, it was only about a quarter full, so it seemed spacious. When full it would feel cramped. We stopped here to restock the pantry after clearing Canadian customs and before going on farther to Nova Scotia. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice enough Canadian campground. Level pull thru and back in full hookup 30 amp sites. Pedestal hook ups so 4 sites are at one hookup, so 2 will be on the wrong side at back ins. Pull thrus every other wrong side. Gravel with lots of room. Satellite good since mostly open. Good WIFI and cell service. Needs 50 amp! We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

The campground is in a very large park that has wonderful walking trails. Most of the RV sites are in a large gravel area that can best be described as functional. Site surface was gravel and featured a picnic table.

It was our first stop upon arriving in Canada. There are good shopping/provisioning opportunities as you'd expect in a large city. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We looked forward to visiting the Saint John City Market and shopping for groceries and getting a bite to eat. Other than maybe appreciating it's historical significance, you're better off going to Sobey's - East Point for groceries and dining at a Market Square restaurant located at the Saint John wharf. Be sure to hike some of the trails at Rockwood Park.

Overnight Stop, Large Gravel Parking Lot.

We were traveling between Prince Edward Island and Campobello Island (including two border crossings). Since we knew it would rain on the second day, we were looking for an overnight stop that was close to either Route 1 or Route 2 that could accommodate our RV hooked-up overnight (i.e., we would choose a long single-day drive over hooking-up in the rain on the second morning).

I initially discounted this campground due to comments about the site lengths, but I did notice on google earth that an RV of our size was hooked-up in one of the sites. When I called the campground, they said they had a double-site that was available and would accommodate us (30 amp and water). We arrived to be told by a different person that the double site was reserved under another person's name and we were given a less desirable location (which flooded due to the overnight rain). Ultimately the double site that were supposed to be in (and several others double sites in the same location) remained empty overnight-a little frustrating, but we did accomplish our goal to stay hooked-up overnight. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is perfectly located for US travelers if they want to take a break from the long ride through Maine. It is located at Rockwood Park in the city of St John and right off the highway.

The campground itself is not fancy. There are some spacious semi-private sites (160 to be 190) but chances are that you may find your site on the main part of the campground, gravel, next to each other, no privacy, full hook up.

We had an unexpected delay on the road and arrived at the campground at 2.00 am. To our surprise, there was someone at the gate, who couldn't be nicer.

We also spent the night at the campground on our way back to the US. Both experiences were great, with the staff being helpful and accommodating.

After a long ride from Nova Scotia, it was such a pleasure to take our dog for a long walk on the beautiful Rockside Park, which among many great features, it has a doggie park. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

This turned out to be a very nice location. The campground is within a very large city park that has walking / hiking trails and a lake with fish. It is close to downtown Saint John and also not far off the highway, so a good stop between the US and Nova Scotia.

Facilities were clean - a little dated, but fine. Good space between camp sites. It looked like there were a fair amount of seasonals here but there were also plenty of spaces for overnighters. Most of the seasonals were not there when we stayed (perhaps because it was late in the season?) so it could be busy in the summer. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

The campground is essentially a gravel lot, but the location and proximity to Saint John make it a worthwhile value. At 43' we were probably too long for the sites; we stuck out a little from the gravel area that was the campsite into the gravel area that was the road - but there was enough room to pass by. Since no one was in the site behind our assigned site when we arrived, the office person told us to drive through which made it like a pull-through on our arrival. As others have said, there was one area for the utilities shared by 4 RVs, so it was on the wrong side for 2 of them, and far enough away to need extension devices for us to use the water and the sewer. We did not have an extra sewer hose, so on our last day, we backed up into the site behind us to get our wet bay closer to the sewer hookup (the RV behind had left) and dumped before leaving. There was also a dump station, but getting our 43' rig to it would have taken some maneuvering from our site. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

This is an RV park inside a GORGEOUS, huge city park with paths and lakes, etc.. Well groomed City Park. I believe the office is run by volunteers. It is a gravel lot surrounded by lush trees. The RV park was pretty full most of the time. It is nothing special, but very adequate for a stay to see Saint John. Lilly's is a non profit restaurant inside the park too. It's a 5 minute walk from the RV park. Kids under 10 eat free on Sunday with purchase of two entrees, at least when we were there, but it looks like a permanent time on the menu. It is worth a stay. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Eat at Lily's in the park. Make sure to find out when high and low tide is and go to see the Reversing Falls...they are really cascades as I would call them, but wild cascades. See it at high or slack tide and then again at low tide. It really is amazing and a phenomenal that does not happen anywhere else. Walk and bike the park. Its beautiful.

Rockwood Park itself is a very pretty park, however, the campground is a gravel parking lot. It is conveniently located close to downtown St. John. Getting into the park is challenging with several tight turns onto very narrow roadways once you leave Trans Canada Highway 1. There are also branches from a weeping willow that extend out into the lane where coaches must park when checking in. Only 30 amp power is available. Back in sites are very wide, but short so you must park your car next to your coach. Not all sites have sewer and you may have to wait until you arrive to find out if you will have a sewer connection. The sewers are located at the very rear of the site and you will need at least 25 feet or more of sewer hose to connect. A travel companion did not have enough hose to reach his connection. We needed two sections. Water pressure varies but tends to be low most of the time. Internet service is excellent and Verizon works fine if you have the International Plan. Satellite reception (Direct TV) is excellent (no trees in the gravel parking lot), and two local TV channels can be picked up (no cable.) We did not use the restrooms and showers but I did check them out and they were clean but not fancy. Plastic shower curtains. Despite the negatives, the park is adequate and if you are here to sightsee you won't be spending much time in the park anyway. We would stay here again because of its convenient location. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to see the reversing falls at low tide and high tide. The contrast is amazing. And if you take a day trip to St. Andrews (one hour) be sure to see Minister's Island where Canadian National Railway president William Van Horne built a 50 room "summer" home in 1890 which is open to the public. You can only reach the island for a few hours either side of low tide because you drive on the ocean floor to get there.

Nightly cost is a guesstimate. We stayed here as part of a caravan. This is a campground within a large city park. A nice facility with roomy sites. Wifi was weak, we had to walk to the close by laundry room for a useable signal. Sites were level and all hookups worked well. Cell phone usage required roaming on a Canadian system, but worked well when doing so. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

St Johns is a decent sizes town with a Costco that came in handy, however be aware that the few Costco's in Canada don't sell liquor at their locations.

Be sure to check out Reversing Falls where the water flow changes dramatically at tide changes.

Like the other reviewers have said, it is a gravel parking lot with full services available. Some pull thrus. There are some view sites with grass and trees, but appear as most are taken up by annuals. They also have to put with the noise of the rail yard below. Could be quite noisy, beware if asking for a view site. Bathrooms & showers are clean. Value is good as it is close to town. We camped at Rockwood Park in a Travel Trailer.
