This is a beautiful state park near Gorham, NH There are no services but there is water and pay showers in the park. It is wooded and the entrance road is narrow but we did not have problems with it. Not all the sites are level but sites 10,16,31 and 33 are good for RV's but we are 25.2 and I would not want to put an RV over 30ft into some of these sites. They do allow campers of all sizes in the picnic area across the street and there were two trailers there - same price, water near with pit toilets and it is closer to the swimming area. This park does not get many RV's because of no hookups but we enjoyed our one night here facing a field on a beautiful fall day in New England. There are 43 sites here and it is across the Moose River from the office which is on the right driving up. Near the office is the picnic area, warming pool, swimming pool filled with cool, clear mountain water which is open to the public. Walking distance from the main camping loops. Hiking trails in the park and fishing in the Peabody and Moose Rivers. Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, water within walking distance, pit toilets and a bathhouse with flush toilets and pay showers. Check in was easy and the girl at the office (nice roaring fire in the fireplace, store and reading area with a lending library) was very nice and allowed us to change sites. Not many camping at this time of year on a Sunday night about 11 sites were taken, but the girl in the office told us that Columbus Day weekend they were already booked. We did get cell service which was great after not having it at another state park way up north in New Hampshire for three days. If we were in the area again we would stop to stay here. - gsnakehill

Loved this rustic place. On an honor system. Go in and choose your site and fill out a envelope with your $ and you are good to go. Has a table with fireplace and most are pull in easy sites. Great for a quick overnight stay! - Georgie328

Another beautiful NH state park. Quiet with nice, treed sites. I rated high for natural beauty. Close to "downtown" Gorham, NH and easily accessible from main hwy. Mount Washington Auto Road 10 mi away - but we didn't go due to fog - bummer. Many fresh water taps throughout campground but we could not find a dump station - don't think they have one. Excellent cellular connection with Verizon at our site. Oh: you get hit with a $9.50 reservation fee by booking service. - TravelerRog

Very helpful, friendly staff. Nice laundry facility and lots of reading material, including trail info. Gated, so safe. We were in "the field", so no shade and very little privacy, but other campers were nice. Great trail directly from the Campground to the basin- a series of lovely little waterfalls into pools of clear water among large boulders. - Goldilox
Sep 2016 - $35.00
If we had been in our big 5th wheel instead of our tent camper, our rotating might be a bit higher. The Transit RV sites are in a big field and the sites are much cleaner. We were in a water/electric/30 amp back in site in the trees and the site was uneven and all dirt. Rain made it very messy. Like several places we have encountered in the northeast, showers are in a separate location from the toilets and showers require payment for use. Shower/toilet houses were old but clean. Verizon phone/hot spot worked well. Did not use campground wifi. Lots of seasonal campsites that were well kept. Lots of chipmunks around our site. We would not stay here again. - roadking
Aug 2016 - $35.00
This is a large campground but feels small (in a good way), with a lot of spots both in the open and in little wooded areas, and even spots across the highway. The managers were very nice. Access card provided that allows you to open gate at any time. They have a large laundry inside the small store/check-in desk area, open until 10pm, $2 per machine, no issues. Showers were big and seemed clean. There is a pool which was popular on the warm days, and a bouncy house and playground for kids. There are some trails but we never got around to walking them. Interior roads are fair. WiFi is fair but only for email-type bandwidth use. No TV signals. Cell (Verizon) signal was okay for phone calls, only 2 bars of 3G for data. Our dirt site (#9) was one of the the "hide-away" holes in the wooded area, so, very private, very shaded, very quiet, and was fairly level. Hookups were good and it had a picnic table and large fire pit as well. We enjoyed our stay and would come back (though we'd prefer to have better WiFi and a good cell phone signal). - RobtL

Well treed park. We were at the side closest to the river and you need to be good at backing in because the trees are tight to the site and almost up to the roadway. Make sure you have extension for your electrical it is at the very front of the site. The owners were friendly and helpful. We stayed for a few days here. We also had a freight train passing directly behind us around midnight. That's a wake up call. We couldn't use our fire pit because our one of our slides was 2 feet away. There was no parking for our truck on the site which speaks to the size of the site; maybe 40' deep at best. - The Travellers
Jul 2017 - $35.00
This is a good park for exploring the north side of the White Mountain National Forest. My pull through site was more than big enough for my motorhome and tow car. The utilities were well placed and worked well except that the water pressure was a little low. The cable had plenty of channels that came in clearly. Unlike most campgrounds, the wifi actually worked. The roads were easy to navigate with our big rig. There was some traffic noise when we were outside, but it didn't bother us when we were in the motorhome. The office staff is very helpful. I would not hesitate to stay again. - FSUWizard
Sep 2016 - $37.00
Owner was very nice and you can tell they take pride in their facility. We chose a back-in treed site with 30a & water and it was very nice. Great location, some road noise and one late evening train but we sleep with white noise so no bother for us. Bathrooms older but clean (it's a campground, not the Hilton). Not sure if it's related to the time of year but we were there after Labor Day and it seems some items (kayak rentals mentioned on their website) were not available, owner was helpful and happy to refer us to a nearby rental place however. Would definitely stay again. - TCNG

Because major renovations are now underway, this beautiful 180 site campground is not up to its full potential. Having camped here for decades, our family has returned year after year to enjoy large meadow sites for tents & RV's as well as tent sites in the wooded loops. The lovely Culhane Brook runs midway through the campground, the Peabody River runs alongside for swimming and fishing and the views of Mt. Madison and The Imp are worth waking up to every morning. Sites vary in size from large for family gatherings to smaller ones perfect for hikers or motorcycle riders needing a 'bed' for the night. All sites have sturdy picnic tables with fire pits and firewood and ice are available for sale. Most sites are separated from one another by wooded areas that enhance the wilderness experience. The current staff is friendly and extremely helpful. They appear to work very hard to keep the sites and facilities neat and clean. With the anticipation of newly paved roads, showering facilities, hookups and dumping station, campers will be treated to the best place to relax and enjoy all that the White Mountains has to offer as my family has done for generations. - DollyCopp3
Aug 2015 - $11.00
As others have said - Beautiful area ! Rate reflects senior National Park Pass. No hook up services and be careful on site selection when making an on-line reservation as sites vary Drastically. Interior roads were paved at one time but are now extremely potted and deteriorated. Rest rooms were clean and up to date and overall experience was good - staffing may have changed since previous poor employee reviews. Would stay again at senior rate but full rate with no services seems high. - SailorGolf
Jun 2013 - $20.00
We love this National Forest Campground and the view of the mountains from the open field, etc. The bathrooms are old, but clean. The tenting sites on the mountain are great. We always come back to Dolly Copp to hike her mountains. The office people are very short with you and not very helpful. You better have your ducks in a row, or you will get yelled at! They need new people in the office. It is such a beautiful place. Would have given this campground a 10, but for the people that run the campground. - rootie tot

We have stayed here 2 times over 3-4 years. Would stay more if we were not living in GA. So much to do here. The owners and seasonal campers are very friendly. We were invited to pot luck and bingo. Two campers took my husband fishing with them. It is a small campground. There is a clean laundry with 2 washers and dryers. Water pressure was good. Fire rings and tables at the site. - mzc

Can't complain - a very nice campground. We had an 18 foot trailer. Our site was right beside laundry. Only draw back was at night very bright light shined in camper all night, but we blocked it out the best we could. People very friendly, very nice pool, Santas Village down the road. Would stay again, but would request a space couple sites away from laundry. - HappyCamper67
Jul 2014 - $36.00
This is our first time staying at Fort Jefferson Campground. We chose this CG because it is in northern NH, and had hoped for a northern NH camping experience. Unfortunately it is another CG that caters primarily to its seasonal residents. Our site (98) was at the end of a row of sites, completely open with no shade whatsoever. With my rig set up the kids had barely enough room to play on our own site. The constant onslaught of kids on electric cars & bikes got old. I understand that there isn't much room to roam, but these cars going by every 5 minutes (starting at 7:00-7:30 AM) makes it impossible to enjoy a quiet coffee in the AM. Even the owner (I assume it is the owner, he is the only one driving around on a "Gator" vehicle, no other gas powered vehicles on the property) drives around the whole place giving his kids rides....all afternoon...EVERY DAY. It is enough to drive you crazy. If you don't believe me, try it out for a weekend...you will see. The bathroom (one for the whole place) was consistently dirty and ran out of TP almost every day. The showers (albeit free) had very inconsistent hot water. The park next door (Formerly Six Gun City, now called Fort Jefferson Fun Park) and the CG are owned by the same family. I understand the need to stabilize income, and open to seasonals (its happening everywhere now), but this is getting out of hand. The "clique" atmosphere takes over at these places, and makes us traditional campers feel as if we shouldn't be there. I'm not saying the folks weren't nice, but when you go to do the one thing there is to do (the pool) and it is overrun with one family (we learned that one family has 7 seasonal sites here, all with 3+ children each....you can imagine the size of this group!) it definitely puts a damper on your plans. The people were nice, the facilities & sites were subpar, the CG was mostly occupied by local seasonals (most lived mear minutes away). Fort Jefferson Fun Park was entertaining for the kids, but it is not even a shadow of what it used to be. It kills me to see a great little park die slowly like it appears to be doing. I wish they would partner with other local parks & businesses to help improve their situation. If you ever wanted to see Six Gun City, or if you remember it from your childhood, you better check it out before it is gone forever. Sants Village is just a 10 minute drive away too... Bottom line, we will not be returning to the CG. - BigNuge
Jul 2012 - $22.00
The draw of this campground is Six Gun City, same owners and they offer length of stay passes. Many seasonals that seemed mostly neat, no build structures. Sites are tight and you can only do so much with Six Gun City which is geared to the very young. New owners are expanding and improving so in a few years could be better. New bathhouse would be a great direction to go as the one they have is very dated. - Justafan

This is NOT a resort! Just an average campground. As stated earlier, this campground is not designed for anything over 35'. Sites are good sized and fairly level. The campground is well maintained with gravel roads and grass/gravel sites. Utilities are well placed and function as designed. Wi-Fi is poor to none, depending on location of site. Verizon service is weak and very slooow. They do have two nice pools, one of which is heated. Definitely not a good value for the price. - lllkrob
Aug 2014 - $45.00
While listed as big rig friendly, it isn't. The turns within the campground are too sharp, tree overhangs are many. If you are 40 feet or longer, look elsewhere. Many seasonal renters who were quite friendly. Has two pools and two hot tubs. A buffet breakfast is set up every morning for $8 for adults. Landscaping is tasteful. Internet was very slow or non-existent. Would not return. - EdGuru
Aug 2011 - $37.00
This campground is located across the street from Santa's Village amusement park so it attracts a lot of families with small children. For those families, this would probably be a 10 as it is neat with clean restrooms and nice looking swimming pools. Unfortunately we didn't realize this when we pulled in for a one night stopover. While we do like children, there were just a lot of them, many tired from a long day and some without adequate parental supervision, so a lot of crying, shouting, and other commotion well into the evening. So if you have small children and want a great place to visit the amusement park, this campground is for you. If you want a peaceful evening, then suggest looking elsewhere. - GAnnie

The nicest private campground I have ever experienced. Gravel site includes a fire ring and picnic table. Sites vary from open to mostly shady. The owners treat you like family. Special activities and cookouts. Nicely wooded with trails designed by a big kid for the little kids. A surprise find. - Paulgoodwin
Sep 2012 - $30.00
Shore power 50 & 30amp, water 60psi, no sewer at most sites. There are two areas to stay. Sites in the back with lots of trees. These have plenty of room to park a large RV but they are mainly 30 amp, with water and no sewer. Satellite is possible but not easy. Sites that are up front are 50 amp in the middle and 30 amp on the back part with water but no sewer. Satellite is accessible in this area. The sites up front are flat but lower in the front toward the highway and good side to side. Very little grass around the newer sites up front. There is plenty of room for slides and awnings. Most sites are back in except those in the middle up front. They have a nice pool. Restrooms are small but nice and clean but it is in the middle of the back area in the trees. Did not see a laundry. If you want a rustic woodsy campsite this is a nice in the back. There is a small playground for children and a volleyball & badminton area. Campground Wi-Fi is available but doesn't look to be very strong, we use Verizon & Sprint air cards which work well. Roads are gravel and sand and little rough in the back among the trees. This is a nice place for a few days using most sites. The owners are nice and live in the house/office on the campground. We would stay here again. - TXBobcat

The dryer was broken, the site was sand and the sewer bubbled over at our site. There are several permanent trailers, RVs that need to be removed, and cleaned up.
The river has very little water just a small place to swim. The power went out at our site 3 times. It's very hard to drive thru and park. The staff is wonderful and the owner did give us a discount to stay: $40.00 a night for 3 nights. - Sabrina421960
Jul 2016 - $25.00
This is an older campground. Only electric we could see was 20 amp. Since the campground is close to the White Mountains, this isn't all that bad, but could be at least 30 amp. Most sites are fairly level, but all are grass and our 15,000# fiver sunk in a bit. Store is good and facilities are clean. While sites are close together, they had few here so there was no crowding at all. - Walt Bennett
Aug 2015 - $41.00
This is a huge park with amazing views of the White Mountains. Other reviews mention being too close to neighboring sites and noise and commotion from other campers. During our stay, there were very few occupied sites so that was definitely not an issue. We found it to be peaceful and quiet. Interior roads are paved but rough in spots. Sites are grassy but most are level. - Heart

Spent 1 night here and had no complaints. There weren't many other campers there, so when we sat out at night around a campfire we didn't see anyone else. Very nice and relaxing. The pull thru sight was level and the hook-ups were fine. A little pricey I thought because the tax brought it up $3.75 to $38.75, but a nice campground that I could recommend without reservations. - villager04
Sep 2017 - $40.00
This is the second time that we stayed here. The first time was about 7 years ago. It is a good location to stay while traveling through the area. There is a bike/ped path right by the campground but it is only about 1 1/2 miles long. Good for a stroll, but too short for a bike ride. The sites are side by side but when we were here it was the off season and they were only using every other one so it wasn't an issue. - VtLee
Sep 2017 - $18.00
We spent 3.5 months at this park as Workampers earlier this year; nightly rate reflects Passport America. The 25 RV sites are a mix of open/partial/full shade, on gravel or grass, most pull-thru with long-term sites back-in. All have water & electric (20/30A or 50A), and most have sewer. Dump station available. Roads within area are gravel, and accessible for big rigs. The 12 tent sites are in separate forested area. All sites have campfire ring & picnic table. There is also a group site for large gatherings. There is a bathhouse with two showers on each side. It was refurbished this year with new flooring, paint & lighting. Staff keeps the bathrooms very clean. Owners are very friendly and try to accommodate guest requests. Campground is part of a facility that also features river trip outfitter and gem sluice. Easy to arrange for canoes/kayaks/tubes to float down Androscoggin River, and then just walk back to your campsite. - Spun69
