If you want to stay at a place where both kids and adults enjoy each others company than Grand View Campground is for you. They offer kids activity's like fishing derby's, kids carnival and set up water park and for the adults fishing derby's comedy shows (with headliner comedians). Saturday racing and bingo. The staff is helpful but at times they can be very busy so they come off as they don't want to help you but in the end they take care of you. I am now a seasonal camper there and can't wait until May when they reopen. - ed2010
May 2006 - $90.00
This campground is not a member of the Better Business Bureau. Their business practices reflect that. They are listed under Grand View Camping Area. Beware appearances at Grand View are misleading. In addition at the end of the summer (2006) they informed all campers the drinking water quality was unsafe and instructed us not to use it for the remainder of the season! - smart consumer
Jun 2005 - $30.00
I spent the better part of my children's childhood on a seasonal site in this campground and have left it due to the people who run the place now. They have cut down most of the trees, took away people's privacy, made people's sites smaller to jam more sites into spaces barely big enough for 1 camper, harassed people for driving 1 or 2 miles over the 5mph speed limit, cut down the camping season, and made so many rules it is impossible to do anything without having the camp manager make you feel like you are going to be thrown out of the campground. This used to be a beautiful campground but now it has been destroyed. - EarthFirst1

This is a park that really caters to families and they do a good job. If you have a newer large motorhome they have a rally field and some pull thrus that will accommodate you. Our site was a pull thru in the trees, but had a hole where could get a satellite signal. Not all sites, except the rally field, will be so lucky. Sites and roads are gravel/sandy.
I enjoyed my stay and found the park to be easier to maneuver in than I expected. Signs to assist you to your sites location would be helpful. - peddy dick
Jul 2015 - $50.00
Great campground with very friendly and patriotic owners. Very well groomed sites, with much variety and lots of privacy in the wooded layout. We will definitely return. - Mr Joe P
May 2015 - $55.00
This was our 4th visit here and it is just a nice place with great owners. Our site has been great, large, level with room to spare. Some parts of the campground, near the water, put in by the original owners can be tight but you get a view. This campground was quite dusty this weekend with it being so dry. They water the roads to keep some of the dust down. The owners are always doing something to clean or improve something. Just a great campground. If there was a negative, it was with a few campers who feel the leash rule for dogs did not apply to them as one day we had 3 different dogs come after our dog. We will return at some point to camp again. - Happy Camper X2

Jul 2017 - $68.00
It's nice but just ok. Place is huge but was somewhat empty. We were in the North in between the busy road and several seasonals. Both were noisy and made for a somewhat less relaxing weekend. The road between the 2 halves is about 15' behind our camper we and listened to everything from trucks, motorcycles, and cars with no mufflers bombing up the hill all day and night. Not a fault of the owners but still a negative. There were a lot of empty full hookup sites in the wooded river side. Not sure why we were sent here. We saw a backhoe delivering full buckets of nice firewood to the seasonals but we were stuck with the tiny packages of wood. When I inquired about the other wood the kid at the store didn't know what I was talking about even though it drove right past him. The tubing entrance to the river seemed sketchy and other amenities showed a lack of maintenance for the $ this place charges. The hot tub on our side looked nice but was out of order. The dog park was a bit depressing being out of the way behind the parking lot and down the rutted dirt road. I felt like there should've been a dumpster and abandoned trucks back there to complete the feel. Sasha didn't care for it Our site was a decent size and fairly level and was easy to get into. It did have a great mix of sun and shade. We saw both larger and tighter sites here. There are a lot of activities for the kids. It's not a bad place but we most likely will not return. - April n John
Sep 2015 - $64.00
This campground has decent pools and a nice slide. However, the sites are very cramped and unlevel, there are pieces of trash all over and the quiet time is really not enforced. In addition, if you don't care for dogs, this isn't your campground. It seemed everyone had their dog on our visit. - lopenzani
Sep 2014 - $42.00
Great family park, although we were there at the end of the season. The waterslide was closed, but the pool and hot tub was open (one side only). We had a family reunion and rented a cabin and trailer for family. The cabin was nice, but the master bed was only "full size". The trailer was okay, but the floor was spongy and the trailer had a large ant nest in the walls. The park has gated access which can be nice, but it was under lockdown every time friends or family came to visit. I was told no more than 1 car per lot, but the seasonal sites had up to 3 cars each. Overall, nice park - especially for families. Would stay again. - bbnh2000

The new name for this facility is the Strafford KOA. Since they just made the change they honored our Good Sam discount.
The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The overall campground is well maintained and the sites are spacious. Would definitely visit this campground again. - leen
May 2016 - $61.00
This is a very clean and very friendly park. The office/store staff are very nice as are the owners. The hookups at each site are very up to date and work very good. The campground is maintained very nice and everything looked great. We try to get here every year as we love it and fine it very peaceful. The pool complex is very nice and many are able to enjoy it. I was a holiday weekend but the noise was not bad at all, maybe a camper or two but no issues. Seasonal camps are neat and although there are golf carts, most all drive very slow and responsible. - Happy Camper X2

Sep 2017 - $45.00
First, the pros: this park is very quiet, partly no doubt because it is midweek in September. The roads, while dirt/gravel, at least are well maintained, without ruts and holes that we find in so many RV parks. Excellent entryway for big rigs, although signage on the road is minimal, and my GPS routed me wrong. I think their address should be different than it is, in order to get here without turning around. The bath house, although we didn't use it, was spotlessly clean with nice, big showers. Cons: minimal wifi (I'm beginning to think that's normal in New England RV parks?) considering the park is not even 1/3 full. Can't imagine using wifi if it was full! There really is no shade unless you're up against the side. Not sure why so many parks do that - not a tree in sight except on the edges of the big field. It would be nice to have a little shade. We didn't have anybody on either side of us, but if we had, we would have been able to carry on a conversation easily - the spots are very close. Also - no laundry facility at all. I found this odd, since there are obviously lots of seasonal people here. Can't imagine having to throw laundry in the car and drive in town every week to do it. We like that! Overall, yes, would stay here again. - Florida Honey
Aug 2017 - $38.00
What a pleasant surprise. A big rig friendly park in the lakes region. Very easy in and out and no trees to bother your sat tv. Quiet and handy to Lake Winnipesaukee and not that far from the seacoast. Site was level and spacious. - peddy dick
Jul 2017 - $45.00
I wish I could give this campground a higher rating, but my vision of a "10" campground is one that gives you a choice of sun or shade, and this one doesn't. In my view, this is a very nice, large, level field with roads and utilities for camping. Trees ring the exterior of the campground where most of the seasonals are located (and I can't blame them for taking those sites), but that didn't help those of us who were stationed in the middle with no respite from the sun. And fortunately, or unfortunately, during our stay we had plenty of sun. It hovered close to 90 most of the days. Yes, I knew when I made the reservation that this was a field with no trees, but the constant heat and air conditioner use made it seem even worse. I must add that it was quiet at night, the utilities were excellent, the bath house was meticulously clean, and the staff we met were friendly and informative. I have to honestly say that if we were in the area again, and it was the spring or fall, we may try Turtle Kraal again, but definitely not in the heat of the summer. p.s. We didn't see any turtles...they must have been hiding from the heat. - Love To Travel 2

Jul 2017 - $50.00
Very nice pet and family friendly campground. The owners are wonderful and work so hard to make sure everything is great for everyone. Constantly working to improve the grounds. Went for a weekend and ended up getting a seasonal site. We are still exploring the ATV trails in the area and have found so far that the wooded trail off of the power lines are the best so far. Very scenic and we'll maintained. - JennaN
Sep 2009 - $29.00
This is a great campground for ATV's. I came with my family and friends. The seasonal people were great: they knew all the trails and shared their info with us. One gentleman helped a friend of ours with the use of his tools and his time. The owners were very friendly and even came by to see if we needed anything. We were also invited to a community fire. The sites were pretty good in size. We went late in the camping seasons so the pool was closed. We plan to go back next year. Our friends are considering purchasing a seasonal site. - scott2000
Jun 2007 - $25.00
Quiet campground, mostly seasonals. New owners, who are working hard to make it an even better campground. Nice pool and recreation room. Playground for children. We are seasoning there this summer. The rate listed above, is not the rate we paid, but the rate listed on the web site. What could make it better would be more 3 ways hookups (currently only 2 of the seasonal sites have 3-way hookup); and some type of cable or satellite TV hookup. - PJinNH

Jul 2016 - $35.00
Sun River Campground is an older, rustic campground that is run by a very friendly gentleman that accommodated our needs. There is no WiFi and the Verizon signal comes in and out. OTA television provides 10 channels, none of which are network channels. There's a river running adjacent to the campground that has a swimming area and a playground is available for children. We didn't use the bathrooms but they didn't appear to be in good repair from the outside. Water and electric only with a single dump station at the end of the road. The sites are dirt and a bit tight but we were able to park our 35' Class A and still have room for the toad. Overall it's not bad but don't expect luxury accommodations--truly, this is rustic. - fruffiii
Jun 2012 - $30.00
Dirt/gravel road to get into the campground. Nice in the woods feel.Stayed on a site right next to the river-was very relaxing and scenic. My dog was able to go into the river in front of our site but had restrictions for the beach area.Would go there again. - stoosher

Sep 2016 - $27.00
I feel that a 6 accurately depicts this campground. There were some positives and negatives to the campground. The campground does provide free firewood (nice benefit) and was only 27.00 per night before taxes. There are a variety of sites, seasonal, tent, and rv sites. We were given an escort to our site and told that if we could not back into our site they would use a tractor to park the camper. Most of the rv sites are spacious, however the site that we were given was very tight for my 30 foot travel trailer. I was able to back my trailer into the site and I did need to prune a few branches as they were up against my trailer. The pedestal was at the very back of the site, which means you need a long hose for both water and a power supply. The water pressure was very low but the electricity worked well. No sewer, wifi, or cable on the site. I did manage to get a few channels on the antenna. I did not use the shower in the trailer as the water pressure was to low and decided to use the restroom in the campground. However, I feel that the shower really could use a more thorough cleaning. Aside from the fact that this is an adult campground, that does not need to mean there should be absolutely nothing to do. Labor day weekend, you would think some campground activities would be on the schedule for people to participate in. - clw_man
Aug 2016 - $27.00
This is an adult only park so it is mellow and low key--delightfully quiet. The park is rustic with the sites as nature created them--apart from the water and electric. It is what remains of a homestead, and the stone foundation of the farmhouse that burned down is in the middle of the grounds-- and at the entrance is the family burial plot. Makes for an unusual RV park--but a delightful one it is. The internal roads offer pleasant walks and they can be taken out into a more secluded area of woods and fields that are being conserved. My site itself was reasonably level and utilities easy to access. Pump out service is provided at a nominal fee. They have a heated swimming pool. If I recall correctly my Verizon worked OK. This park was a delight; I did not want to leave. - nanzhere
Jul 2015 - $26.00
We discovered this gem last year. After a weekend there we made it our seasonal "summer home". The grounds are immaculate with beautiful flowers and manicured lawns. There are sites for everyone's taste (70 shaded and 30 sunny). The fire wood continues to be free and it is pet friendly (on leash). Heated built in pool, club house and a lovely large 7 acre pond to canoe or kayak on. It is adult only (which is great and what drew us there in the first place). There are 150 acres with many trails to walk. If your looking for a noisy, bustling, golf cart filled campground then this isn't for you. If you want beauty, peaceful relaxation and nature wrapped up with great people then this is it! I suggest you give Potters Place a try!!! - Dianne W.

Nice lake with some great spots around the lake. Very quiet, nice owners. Some of the seasonal units are pretty run down but the people make up for it. Campground also has a group of very old and really cool cottages on the lake. They look fun. We had a good time. - J Gravely

This campground is great! It is a old New England farm on a lake. The fishing is great. The site we stay on (4 years in a row) is right on the water. The door of our camper is thirty feet from the lake shore. The owners will bend over backwards to make your stay a good one. - bendjosph

Excellent opportunity for skiing or snowboarding family to winter camp right at the mountain. The roads are plowed as is your site. Plenty of back in sites with warm clean restrooms and a 5 minute walk to the base lodge of the ski resort. The park desperately needs cable TV as there is no over the air TV reception. - Flintstones
Feb 2011 - $25.00
Excellent RV destination for winter camping (as we did). Perfect RV park about 7 minute walk to base lodge for skiing and riding, or very short walk to cross country ski base lodge. Winter camping at Gunstock is lots of fun, the mountain is very family friendly with ski programs for all ages and weekly and weekend promotions for lots of resort products and services. The mountain has excellent grooming, 99% snowmaking, and the trails and glades are for all skill levels. - Flintstones
Aug 2010 - $42.00
They are doing construction and there is a new entrance. Getting in is confusing. At the registration office there is no clear instructions for where to park while registering. We just stopped in the roadway. We were given site A3 but it was not clearly marked. When driving a big rig on narrow dirt roads, clear signs are appreciated. Our site was large but not level. Even with 3 or 4 inches of legos, we slope down hill. Today we may try to change position of our coach. This may not be a problem for more experienced RV'rs. It's a beautiful area and a big campground, scenic but nothing special. - Carodox
