This park was a disappointment to us. The first thing that concerned us was the driveway going from the main road up to the office and campground. It was VERY narrow and had steep, deeply leaf covered embankments on each side -- it looked like if we hung a tire off the side, it would be a really big problem. After checking in, we drove back to our site through a security gate (which was always open, all hours), to our site. We were assigned a site in an open field area, across from the pool (closed for the season). There was no other campers in the entire area and we were given what seemed like the shortest site, on the very apex of the curve of the road, for our 40' rig. We still fit, but of all the sites, the assigned us that one... The sites were grassy, a little slick but all had fire rings. The road in front of the sites was dirt, and deeply rutted out. Overall, the sites were narrow and if we had neighbors, we would have had to park our car across the road from us. Across from us was the pool as well as what looked like a very old kids play set -- looked almost out of Vaudeville and I'm not sure if I would feel safe letting my kids play on the various apparatus for fear of equipment breakage or rusty sharp edges/protrusions?... There was also a very tired looking metal pavilion that resembled an old circus tent that had obviously seen better days. It did not bother us to be camping all alone, the privacy was nice and it was definitely quiet. Could not complain about the power or water, they worked fine. We were planning to stay 2 nights, but decided to just pay for 1 upon arrival since they did not give refunds if we decided to leave... It was a wise decision because we decided to leave after the one night. On our way out, as we turned the corner out of our field area, there was a pretty large fire in the grass out in front of a seasonal trailer. Upon a closer look, it turned out someone, not sure if it was the owners of the trailer or who, was burning the roof of said trailer. We didn't know what to make of the entire situation, but found it odd at best. Would not go back to this campground. Felt we paid too much for being after Labor Day and having zero amenities to offer. Also, pulling out of the campground (using the more northern driveway, as this campground has 2 entrances about 350 feet apart) onto the main road was a little hairy since there is a short, steep hill coming down to driver side of the driveway which blocks visibility of traffic... Plus the traffic coming from the passenger side is not very visible because of the angle of the driveway to the road. Please use caution if you do visit this campground. We camped at Thousand Acres Family Campground in a Motorhome.

This campground did have a security gate but it seemed to be more of a trailer park than a campground. We camped in the field near the pool. There were not many people in that part of the park. It was quiet except for the noise of traffic on the highway behind us. The noise was not bad but for a "thousand acres" I expected to be away from the highway far enough not to hear it. The bathrooms were a long way away from our site so we did not use them. We did walk around the campground and were struck by the very large number of sites that appeared to be seasonal. Some appeared to have been there a very long time. A large dog tied outside of one unoccupied camper barked constantly and could be heard quite a distance away. While our stay was only overnight it was not bad. The site we had was grassy and did not appear to have a solid base that might make it muddy if the weather was wet. I would not look to this campground for a multi- night stay. Other than a very nice pool, there did not appear to be much for kids. We camped at Thousand Acres Family Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Before reserving a tent site, I asked if this was a party campground. I was assured by their staff that the "Family" in the campground's name meant just that: the 11:00pm quiet time was enforced by their security. I wanted this reassurance as we were camping with our 3-year old and 1.5-year old twins for the first time. I somehow managed to fall asleep around 2:30am, being kept awake (with earplugs, no less) by the blaring music from the loud, drunk, seasonal camper neighbors. Luckily my kids somehow fell asleep around midnight. I got up and went for a walk around the campground at 11:30pm, looking for this so-called security. No such thing. I saw other campsites with fires going and music playing, but at least their music was a bit softer. So much for security, the supposed quiet time, and the "Family" aspect. There are two playground areas. The main playground has old, somewhat dangerous equipment. The other, has wooden equipment next to the bath house. The pool and bathrooms were clean. We camped at Thousand Acres Family Campground in a Tent.

Well were do we start. They need a LOT of work to this campground. There are over 300 sites but i would only use about 75 of them. The playground was VERY old. The sites were un -level and NOT mowed. The game room could use a lot of work. They have installed a new pool which was nice and they do have nice showers and bathroom. In my experience I would NOT go back to this campground.
