This was an interesting place. Mostly seasonal who are responsible for cutting their own grass I guess because we heard plenty on lawnmovers and other sites were in need of a cutting. Place is quiet and many campers were inside by 9:00. We did not find it to be very buggy, just a little once it got dark. Views of the river were nice but you do get a smell of marsh at low tide. Staff was nice and were most of the campers. We found this campground to be very boring. Partly because it was small so walking it took no time at all and partly because there was nothing to do in the campground or the area. We did use the pool one day which was nice but it could have been a little cleaner. Not sure if we will return. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed recently, and definitely will not return. The mosquito problem is so significant that you almost can't leave your tent/RV -both day and night, and beyond the typical dusk/dawn mosquito feeding times. Took the dog for a walk at 8am in bright sunshine and we were both attacked by swarms of mosquitos - literally dozens. Off repellent with 30% deet was only marginally effective, and we could not sit by the fire due to the sheer volume of mosquitos.

Campground was clean, with good level sites for tents. The small staff was accommodating, friendly, and helpful, but we were prisoners inside our tent most of the time due the the mosquito problem. We were also sold firewood on-site that still needed a good month to dry/season and would barely light. This may be a good campground for the seasonal camper who owns a boat, due to boat ramp (but in water that you cannot swim in), but beyond that, there are far better choices out there. The owners really need to treat the campground for mosquitos and deal with this significant problem. In 20 years of camping, we have never seen such a significant mosquito issue. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Tent.

The staff were very friendly and outgoing. You come in as a customer and leave feeling like a friend. The bathrooms and showers were clean and there was no charge for showers unlike many campgrounds in the area. Pool was clean. The grounds were well maintained. My family enjoyed their stay and we would happily stay there again. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Tent.

Not very impressed. Reserved late for holiday w/e so we got last site avail which was decent size, full hookup, level, clean, and a little shade. Sandwiched between 2 seasonals in an open area and in front of pool. Pros: friendly staff, surprisingly very quiet. Camp store and Deli was nice. Cons: pool was a bit dirty and looked messy with mismatched plastic chairs and people hanging out and smoking. Felt like someone's private area. Bathrooms needed cleaning and updating. Some of the seasonals looked a bit run down. Sites were right on top of each other. While I didn't care for this place, it wasn't all that bad. Not our type of place. Not that hard to find. Cross bridge, see Shell, take first entrance, stay to right and go down the unmarked dirt road. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Travel Trailer.

Not a bad location. It really needs a sign so you know when to turn. Especially if you have a motorhome. Campground was good, nice area and sites were good. They noticed the picnic table was broken when they brought us to our site, so they brought us another one. The only complaint why I won't return was the excessive barking of dogs from the seasonal campers next to me. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Motorhome.

It is on the backside of Great Bay on the Squamscott River (a tidal river). The biggest negative on the campground is finding the entrance sign. it is small and across a Shell station from the actual entrance. Entrance roads are dirt. Campground roads are packed gravel. They have a dock on the river and a boat launch site. I saw canoes for rent. Sites were fairly level and shaded. It is handy to Portsmouth, the New Hampshire coast and other sites in eastern New Hampshire. I would return again. We camped at Great Bay Camping in a Motorhome.
