This park is located in the southern region of NH about 30 min from UNH, 45 minutes away from Manchester and the same from Hampton Beach. It is a beautiful park with the 195 campsites in three sections - a tent section, Big Island area and then Horse Island. There is also primitive camping on other lakes in this huge park. Horse Island and part of Big Island are reservable - 180 total. There are some great sites on Horse Island overlooking the lake and many have direct access for their kayaks from their site. Our site 7 was beautiful but tough to turn around in with a 25ft sprinter, so I would not pick it again. One needs to really read the write up about the sites. We loved site 43! There are bathhouses with flush toilets and coin operated showers throughout the park. All sites are wooded with open fireplaces, picnic tables and there is water available around the loops. There is a beach with playground, store and picnic tables all in walking distance from most sites but parking there is also available. Pets are not allowed in the park and there is no dump station. There are boat ramps for boating on Pawtuckaway Lake that surrounds the campsites. Many sites have lake views. We definitely will be back. I just wish they allowed pets and had a dump station. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Others have told us about this park and it is just a nice place to camp in the southern part of NH. About 6 miles to get on 101 east or west!

Was a stop over for us on the way north. Nice park for families with the lake, beach, boat rentals and nice store. Sites are spacious offering privacy. We were able to back into our site with our 32 ft motorhome, but most sites are not level. Park is really not big rig friendly, most campers were in tents. Again, nice park, but we won't be returning because the price for a state park with no hookups is way too high. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Our family loved this campground. The sites are big and have a lot of space between them. The water in the lake was clean and warm. It had big boulders left behind by the glaciers that we canoed to and the kids could jump off of them. The camp store was expensive compared to what we are used to. The bathrooms were a little out dated, except for one that look like it was redone a couple of years ago. The bugs were pretty bad in the showering area. The showers are free even though there is a coin operator. The day use area gets real busy on the weekends. We definitely will go back next year. The also don't have a dump station. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great park. Large sites for campers also had smaller tent sites. Entrance road could use some tree trimming lot of low branches <10 ft. Lots of near-by trails and boating on large lake. We will definitely be back. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We were in the group site area which is $5 a night per person for qualifying groups. The lake was great and the beach area and buildings were very enjoyable. Sites that we saw looked real nice. The group area could use some signage and some clearing as it was difficult to figure out which site was which. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Tent.

We have camped here 3 times and have enjoyed every camping experience here. The sites are very large and private. The fishing is great and we also bring our kayaks and canoe. There are many hiking trails to choose from. I just wish they allowed pets. Every time we come here we must make arrangements for our little dog. She loves camping! I know this policy is common in state campgrounds but it is the only thing that brings my rating to a 9 instead of a 10. We camped at Pawtuckaway State Park in a Tent Trailer.
