The park is a primitive park but it is beautiful all gravel roads with 41 sites, pit toilets and some water spigots. It is heavily wooded surrounded by ponds. One can kayak from one pond to another. There is a lot of wildlife here and the morning we arrived there had been some moose and loon sightings. The park is on the link of the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway with a 51 mile hiking trail that connects the two mountains from the south to the north. The park was a logging community and the remains of dams, houses, foundations can be found when hiking. The first site 1 that we had you could look up in the mountains close by and see 12 wind turbines spinning around since this is one of the most windy spots in NH. They did not take away from the view they were actually quite interesting and beautiful to watch.

First we had site 1 and it was alone down a trail about 200 yards but then opened up to a big beautiful wooded site on Vickery Pond with its own dock. We have a 25 ft Sprinter RV so it is narrow and I would not have wanted to drive down that trail with anything bigger. Nice but no water to drink near us and there was a toilet in the woods (just the toilet with toilet paper in a bag). We decided to move because we were really alone out there and there is hardly anyone camping this time of year during the midweek. Campground closes in two weeks. We moved to site 6 on May Pond which was closer to the main road right on the water with beautiful views but not near a pit toilet or water to drink. The only reason I am explaining these sites is if you have a large RV you are not going to be happy here or if you can't take primitive camping even with a RV, this is not for you. We loved it! We camped at Pillsbury State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

On the way we stopped at Franklin Pierce Homestead State Historic site (our 14th President). Homestead is open for tours only on the weekends but the grounds were nice and it is on the way to the park with parking for RV's.

The trees had started to turn so it was a beautiful looking out over the ponds with the birds and campers kayaking. The Narrows Trail using the trail guide was interesting and informative and worth the hike.

Small campground in wooded area. Sites on road were small and a bit close. We seen a moose and woke to the call of the loons every morning. They don't recommend swimming in water due to a leach problem. Pet friendly but I was reminded about leash rule upon entry and spoke to about dog being off leash when he broke the clasp. After explaining the situation I was reminded about the leash law again! Maybe a bit too much. Toilets should be cleaned more frequently to eliminate smell. Friendly neighbors. We camped at Pillsbury State Park in a Tent Trailer.
