Date of Stay: October, 2018 - $31.00
Overall Rating:

Booking process:

Very easy. One call, no Credit Card needed. When we arrived all was exactly as booked.

Access/Big Rig Access:

Very easy right from I-40. Easy to get to the site, no sharp turns.

Office/Staff:

Very kind staff and no problems with our reservation even though they did not ask for our phone number or CC when booking.

Amenities:

Two sheds with bathrooms and laundry. Very clean. Propane cheaper than most other campgrounds we have visited.

Site:

Ok size, slightly close to our neighbor but ok for a couple of nights.

Utilities:

Price:

$31.21 after a AAA discount of 10%. Tax is added to price of campgrounds in New Mexico. Office accepts Master Card and VISA but not American Express.

WiFi:

If you use Apples products forget abut WiFi. Office said that the towers are not iPhone, iPad or MacBook friendly and that is true. Tries to restart my iPhone 4 times and after each restart it worked until the phone went to sleep. No luck with the MacBook at all. Seems that they had this problem for a long time but owner does not seem to care.

Verizon Wireless:

Almost unusable at this RV Park. Got 134kB down and hardly anything up so WiFi is what you have to rely on. Towers right outside the park is aparanetwly T-Mobile. I still see five bars on the iPhone but data and voice hardly usable.

View:

Very nice even with another Class A moving in beside us.

Laundry:

$2.00 for washer and $1.50 for dryer. Room very small. Only one dryer was in working order. Very clean.

Nearby:

Walmart 9 minutes, Camping World 2 minutes, RV American Park is another RV-park just on the other side of the fence. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Our favorite place to stay in Albuquerque. Clean and quiet. Close to neighbors but sites wider than lots of other places. Price per night was double the usual because of the Balloon Fiesta. Flat sites with plenty of space. Convenient to I-40. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We were in High Desert Campground about 5 years ago. Things have changed. There are more permanent residents now. The park has a crowded feeling. Most sites have multiple cars on it. Looking around we have seen unused sewer hoses left underneath the rig, wooden pallets, trash and lots of stuff on the sites. Management needs to tighten or enforce the rules. The interior roads are on asphalt and the sites are on gravel. The front two rows and perimeter have 30/15 amp electrical service. The back of the campground has 50/15 amp electrical services. The electrical voltage was EXTREMELY low. By 4 PM the voltage read 110. The temperature was in the low 90's so everyone was using their air conditioners. With the voltage reading 110 we felt that it was too low to use the air conditioner. The entire week we were in this campground we did not turn it on. The club house consists of an office, a couple of pool tables, a large TV and a kitchen. In addition, there were bathrooms with (2) showers per gender and (4) washers @ $2.00 and (4) dryers @ $1.50 for 45 minutes. Further back of the campground was a trailer with (6) bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms were very clean. There are 3 small dog runs around the perimeter of the campgrounds. All sites had FHU. The sites around the perimeter were back-in, the rest were pull-thrus. The utilities were on the driver's side. The water spigot was in a cement circular container making it difficult to access. Our sewer was not functioning because someone shoved a pipe down the opening making it impossible to secure the connections. Every site had a picnic table. Wi-Fi was available and was usable. Verizon air card and cell phone reception was good. The price reflects a weekly rate. There was a drone of freeway noise at night. We would have to think twice before we would come back to this campground. Definitely not during the summer due to the low voltage. We have a 32 foot 5th wheel. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stopped in for 2 nights to visit Albuquerque. The only criticism I have is the WiFi. We would get kicked off about every 3-4 minuets. Frustrating. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Handy transit location, being located on I-40 (eastbound). Very friendly service on phone when booking though less welcoming on check-in - but who knows what she'd had to deal with before we arrived. Sites are gravel but level. Three pet areas, 2 of which were better for us as our dogs are small and the 3rd pet area did have gaps in the fencing that they could get through but this wouldn't be an issue for many folks. Water pressure is EXCELLENT and that's always a good thing. Access to Albuquerque is very good and we were attending a conference being held in Old Town, so this was a quick 12 minute drive to our event. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We always take the tram to Sandia Peak when here. This time we took it in order to watch the sunset which was spectacular. We had a really good dinner Following the tram ride at the Tram base station at Sandiago's. Good food and super Thursday night live music.

We needed a place near the Freightliner shop, and this was just across the freeway. It is right on the freeway, but we didn't hear any road noise at all. It didn't have a lot of amenities, but the Wifi was terrific. Very few trees, no grass, but it is the desert. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Motorhome.

The park roads are very easy to navigate for big rigs. There are a lot of long pull through sites. The sites were level. The RV park was clean and very well maintained. It has easy access to I-40 and to Albuquerque but road noise was not a problem. The wifi worked well. They have a number of very nice dog parks and there is also an open area behind the park where you can walk. The people at the desk were great. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sites pretty close it's too bad your sewer is right next to picnic table. I wish they'd alternate sites so sewers are back to back and doors facing each other. Nice dog parks and nice views. Easy access to Albuquerque. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice RV park. We needed a place to hole up during a wind storm and this met the need nicely. Close to I-40. Good wifi signal with usable data throughput. A rarity in RV parks. Clean, and the sites weren't too close together. Easy to maneuver for big rigs. Verizon signal was 4 bars. We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Motorhome.

WiFi signal was excellent, but the internet service was under repair (annoying!). Cost was very reasonable. Water spigots have housing to protect from freezing (great!). A bit far outside of town, but close to Petroglyph. Great view of stars at night. Roads are in funky directions...always felt like I was going the wrong way. I'd come back, but there may be better options nearby (though great price). We camped at High Desert RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A great park. If stopping in Albuquerque, this is where we stay. We meet some friends from Durango here for the balloon festival hence the higher then normal rate. A clean neat park. This park has very nicely groomed gravel sites. The RVs are tightly packed but adequate for privacy. We were attracted to this place because we were only staying here for one night as we head east but we like it well enough that we may delay our trip, take a nice bike ride in the morning and enjoy Albuquerque for another day! Definitely recommend for price, friendliness, cleanliness, and proximity to the freeway (without too much traffic noise). AND the WIFI actually works well!
