Monte Verde is "eclecticly" special. The young owners are working hard to serve both extended and overnight campers. The access to Angel Fire amenities makes Monte Verde a good choice. You can throw some horse shoes in the recreation area or camp "outback" in a pull-thru with lots of sun. Just a heads-up, the showers are very nice, but you need quarters for up to a 14-minute shower. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Motorhome.

This is clearly a mom & pop operation with friendly owners. What appears to be the 'original' campground is fairly well laid out and close to showers and restrooms. The 'upper' campground is too tightly spaced and very uneven. I used four leveling blocks which I have only ever used one time in all my camping. The unit next to me with a slide out was literally 'in my pocket' and every word and step on the floor was audible. Every voice echoed. I had to use Bose noise cancelling headphones and elevator music to keep from becoming vocal about it. The only really good thing I can say is that the wi-fi was strong even at the limits of the camp. I would have rather paid double somewhere else. I cannot recommed this campground in any of the upper expanded sites. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

There is one grocery store in Angel Fire. It has everything you could want, but at twice the price. Locals drive 24 miles one way to Taos to shop.

Rate reflects the monthly rate. We loved it here. We had a pull through site with full hookups with a view of Wheeler Peak. In the evening elk would come from the woods and we could watch them from our front window. We were also entertained by prairie dogs. We didn't use the internet as we have our own. We were able to get satellite tv. The owners are very helpful and friendly. It's a beautiful ride into Taos. One warning -- pay attention to the owners directions to their park. We didn't and our ride was hairy. Take their directions and you will have no problem. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Motorhome.

Approx 40-50 sites. Nightly rate based on $500 per month, 50 amp, full service, no cable with back-in on gravel with level lot. New owners in 2016, extremely friendly and helpful. About 12 TV thru the air. WiFi was 10/5 mbps that is very good for campgrounds. Taos is about 30 min away with plenty of shopping. Elev 8400 ft. in case you're sensitive to high elevations. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

Really enjoyed the location of this park surrounded by the beautiful mountains. New owners were accommodating and friendly. All gravel sights, clean, there was also a laundry room but did not use. Nothing fancy but nice. The sites up front each had picnic tables, whereas the sites in back did not. Plenty of spots for tents. Will definitely be back! We stayed three nights here. If you haven't already been here, it's a beautiful area. It just so happened that they were having a balloon fest when we were there (didn't know, nice surprise) and they launched from the field next door and went right over the RV. The owners were very nice and great to deal with. Since they knew we had pets they came right up one night when we returned to alert us to a power outage (local electric company transformer blew up). Just a quick note, if we leave them at home I always leave a few windows open, even if AC is on, just in case. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Motorhome.

We like quiet small parks. The couple that recently took over the park are working very hard to make upgrades from one end to the other. Some spots are narrow to get in with a longer RV, but with little effort the spots all work great. There are pull through spots in the rear. We were comfortable, great WiFi, great water, would like to have the water at home! We stayed for 3 days ($106 including tax and military discount). Next time we are in the area we WILL use this park! Many things to do and see in the area and we don't mind parking on gravel as the spots are very level. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for 6 nites. Wanted to see the Vietnam Memorial, which I could see from the entrance. Park is newly owned by a superb young couple. They are doing many improvement to the park. Gravel site, with some grass. After we left, they had 2 feet of snow. Nice little town, but next time I will be here in summer. Wi-Fi was available, and surprisingly was secure, uncommon for a camp site . We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Motorhome.

It's a pretty small park, owned by a nice couple. There are only two bathroom/shower combos, which are kept clean. It has a cabin attached to it. There is no club house or other amenities, but they do have Wifi. The sites are mostly back in, with some pull throughs without sewer. The couples we met there come for a few months or the summer. They have good 30amp and 50amp service; good water quality. Pets are welcome although there is no dog park. Like I said, it's a very small park.

There was vacant land all around the park and behind the storage facility there was a dirt road going up into the hills where I was able to let the dogs loose. There are a ton of prairie dogs all over and they loved to chase them. The sites were fairly close together but level with a little grassy area and behind the sites a common ground with picnic tables where the guests met to talk. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is nothing to do at the campground itself, but many things to do in Angel Fire and the area. There are museums, the Enchanted Circle, Taos, Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, Eagle Nest, Ute Park and Cimarron State Park to name a few. Also in the area is the Comanche Creek Brewery, set back about 2 miles off Hwy 38. This is a must do, especially if you like craft brews. Look for the sign about 1 mile north from the intersection of Hwy 38/64.

This was our first visit here and stayed for six night. The setting is one of the most scenic we have ever seen. The park owners are very friendly and helpful, and the park is very well maintained. It is a very dog friendly park with a great loop for walking them. Overall, one of the best parks we have stayed at. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Travel Trailer.

I picked this park to spend a week at while we wondered around the mountains this summer because of the excellent rating it has on this web site. I must say it didn't quite live up to it's billing, at least not in our opinion. The owners of the park are wonderful people and will do anything they can to make your stay better so that's a plus. There are nice panoramic views of the mountains but we had to look over some self storage units to see the mountains. The sites are gravel and fairly level, all full hook up sites are back in, there are some pull throughs with water and electricity only. Water pressure was low, about 45 lbs, voltage was good. The sites are fairly close together. There are no picnic tables at the sites, they are all in a common area behind all the Rv's. Plenty of space for dog walking, our Jack Russel was in heaven wanting to chase the Rabbits and ground hogs. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the area is beautiful and the temps were cool and the park is nice but we probably won't go back. I know that the park is for sale and the new Rv resort that's just opened up down the street will probably do this little park in but maybe not. We went down and drove through the new Rv resort and it's very nice and unless they go crazy with their prices, will get most of the business. We camped at Monte Verde RV Camp in a Motorhome.
