Interesting park with huge spaces and interior roads. Great satellite accessibility. it is in the middle of nowhere with 20+ milea to a gas station and 22 miles to the city of Socorro and its Walmart. It does abut I-25 but this section doesn't get as much traffic as other sections. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Shop in Socorro, get gas there too. Closer station is a Phillips 66 but it got a lot of traffic and had a number of pumps out of order, not worth the stop.

We were only going to stay 2 nights but ended up staying a week. Campground has full-hook, good WiFi & is satellite friendly. Sites a little close, but we were able to put out our 3 slides. Staff in office friendly & helpful. Campground offered everything that we needed. We would definitely stay here again if in area. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We made this our base camp. One day we drove east to the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. Next day we drove south west to the Very Large Array, ghost town Kelly & San Miguel. Another day we went north to Albuquerque and finally we went over to the Bosque Bird Sanctuary to see the cranes.

RosieTortilla, manager at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel responded to this review

Thank you for staying with us here at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel. We are glad you enjoyed the park and had a great time exploring the area. The time of your visit was a busy time and sites were limited, and you were placed in our overflow row in which the sites are not as roomy as others within the park.

We do offer friendly staff, clean and quiet park, clean restrooms and showers, level sites.

We hope you will stay with us again. Travel safe and we'll see you next time.

Reba, Manager

We came to stay a week at this park and stayed two. Check-in is quick and easy (no debit or credit cards accepted - cash or check only) and we had an escort to our site. Sites are wide with trees and shrubs on either side - shade and privacy. Lots of room for slides and awnings. The roads in the park are wide and the sites are at the correct angle for easy parking and exiting. All utilities worked well during our stay. Wi-fi was spotty at times - otherwise this park would rate a 10. It is fairly close to I-25, but we found the noise to be minimal in our Row 1 site. This is a very quiet park with little traffic, and drivers do obey the speed limit here. There are many extended-stay sites in the park, but sites are neat and tidy. The owners are in residence, and pride of ownership shows. They host occasional pot-luck dinners - the one we attended was lively and there was a lot of good food. We really enjoyed our stay here and will always choose this park when visiting this area of New Mexico. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

There are wildlife and waterfowl refuges close by, as well as pueblo ruins and the remains of Fort Craig. Lots of birding during fall/winter.

We stayed for one night on our travel home. Really nice sites separated by trees, and lots of space to walk our dogs. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The park is located right next to the Interstate, so the noise was a bit much until it died off later at night. Otherwise, a great place to stay. Nice little park just south of Albuquerque. We did an overnight here. The park was very well-kept with wide gravel roads and sites so there is no problem getting in and out of your spot. Lots of trees and a small dog run which our pups enjoyed. Be aware that you have to come across 2 cattle guards on the way in. Just a little bumpy if you go slow. The sites were large and level and the folks in the office are very friendly. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice little park. Sites are nicely separated by trees & shrubs. There is a small fenced dog walk area. Usually places so close to the expressway aren't so great, but this one is. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

This was our first snowbird campground and after 5 others it is still our favorite. The spaces were extremely well set up - wide roads in between, and all angled pullthroughs. Everyone had a view of mountains, instead of just the big RV beside you and between each site was a small island of shrubs or low trees.

The women's bathroom was spotless, although the shower room needed updating it was well laid out and again spotless

The owner, managers, and work campers were friendly and provided excellent service.

Every morning at 8:00 AM there was free coffee and it was a great place for an early rising husband to go socialize.

Rate cite was for a monthly rate.. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very friendly place to stay. We were there on a Friday night and when we checked in the staff invited us to take part in their weekly pot-luck and pool tournament. It was a lot of fun we can't remember when we've laughed so much. That night it was gals shooting pool against the guys...the funny part is that the guys had to shoot one handed! This is a pet friendly place. They have a fair number of rescue dogs who have found a home at Kiva. We especially liked the fact that all of their sites are pull-throughs and spacious. Even with all four of our slides out we could still park our car next to our coach side-by-side. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

We stopped here on our way to Albuquerque, just to ease our way back into a city after lots of state parks. This place is great in that its well run, nice office and sites. Being NM, the grounds are all dirt but sites are landscaped with trees and bushes, all pull through. We are self contained so I didn't use the bath or laundry. We have satellite and got regular network channels from ABQ on air. Their WiFi is good, but we also used our Verizon MiFi for extra access. Lots of areas for dogs to walk but some stickers around. Owner is a dog lover/rescuer, so some old dogs wander around, but I liked that part being a dog lover myself. We were in the first aisle close to the office, and it was very quiet with no highway noise. Ended up staying almost a week as we found good hiking and exploring after getting on the net. Rate was Passport America for unlimited nights, a great deal. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

Great place: very nice office staff. We pulled in late in the day, running from a storm ready to hit Santa Fe. Easy off freeway, and no freeway noise. Wonderful stop over. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Easy on and off I-25. Very friendly and helpful managers. Large pull through site with ample room for slideouts. Good water pressure and 50 amp electric. I rated it a 9 instead of 10 because the Wi-Fi was slow. Verizon cell and wireless internet signal was good. Did not use laundry or bathrooms. Rate is for Passport America which they will accept for a full week. I will certainly stay here again when exploring this fascinating area. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

This park was an oasis in the middle of nowhere! It was very clean, had shade, large sites. Very dog friendly. We were not bothered by the few dogs that ran free, but then we're dog lovers. We stayed here 3 nights and would stay here again. The rate reflects Passport America, and they only take cash or check. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.

Convenient to I-25, good Wi-Fi, and excellent customer service. Sites are clean and offer plenty of room. Road noise present, but we knew that ahead of time. We took advantage of the "Summer Special", thus the low nightly rate for full hookup/50 amp service. If you like animals, this is the place to come. This was the second time we've been here and love it. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects PPA. Found it to be a relatively quiet park, with minimal freeway noise. Pet friendly, dogs appear to be welcome. Enjoyed the card games at the clubhouse. Hosts were very helpful with information about the local area. Was there at the same time as the previous reviewer and did not hear any of the dog issues mentioned, perhaps they were not "dog folks". Would stay here again when in the area. We camped at Kiva RV Park and Horse Motel in a Motorhome.
