This is a rather good place to stay, adjacent to a lake, during the week days. The campgrounds tend to be noisy and crowded on the weekends by boaters and family groups. RV campers tend to occupy the non-reservation sites and the reservation sites are primarily unoccupied and available for one night at a time. Supposedly, one night at a time.

The office staff becomes highly irritated when a camper wants to stay in a reservation site without a reservation. The staff fails to indicate, which sites are available. So much easier to stay in the air conditioned office and fool arrivals the reservation sites are occupied. Still, overall, an enjoyable place to stay with excellent views of the mountains, and quiet sounds of an isolated location off I-25. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

No paved roads, no amenities, just one of the best parks we have stayed it because its uniqueness. It's a small park in the middle of nowhere where the owner has flowers, fountains, every rock outlining the sites in perfect place and a personality that doesn't quit. And then a cocktail hour every night...even it rains she invites people into her house. And she will tell you she finally raised the rate to $15. a night after everybody said her rates were too low. We will definitely be back for a longer stay next time. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was a wonderful rural place to stay. The electricity is added on at the end of stay at .14KWH. The roads were gravel but in good shape and the spaces were fairly level. The owner was very nice and friendly and had a lot of knowledge about the area and its history. We only stayed one night on our way to Albuquerque, but are considering going back for a longer period and explore and fish. We were on our way to an AKC dog show with quite a few dogs, but they are very pet friendly. The hookups were very convenient and easy to access. We had a pull through in which we had no problem in remaining hooked up with our 56' long rig. This was definitely a great value for the money. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Lake very close and the owner said ghost towns & old mining sites are all around the area. Not much of any shopping close by as it is very rural and quiet.

At $15 (plus electric) a night, this is a quaint and quiet place to stay! The owner hosted happy hour every evening from 4:30-6ish and we absolutely loved getting the chance to meet our neighbors. The wifi was good when a larger rig wasn't blocking our reception. It seemed that the further you were from the single emitter, the worse the reception was. We would have stayed much longer than three days if there were showers on site.

Lot spacing was nearby with some shade. Site surface was gravel/sand and featured a picnic table. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close enough for a day trip to White Sands National Monument to the east and spitting distance from Truth or Consequences to the north. We highly recommend going into town and visiting the Black Cat Bookstore, having lunch at Latitude 33 and spending some time soaking at Riverbend Hot Springs. Cannot say enough good things about our hostess who also organized a wine tasting at a nearby winery.

Good daily rate but watch plus electric. Poor WiFi, cell was 4G, and no cable. Happy hour is interesting and no politics during 4-6.

The owner was helpful and looks after everything. Good place to lay back and visit with the long term Rvers. Gravel and level and room for big rig. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Excellent place to park an RV!

The owner/operator keeps a very clean and neat RV park. She makes sure that it's quiet w/ no riffraff. She loves people - and it shows. She has a "happy hour" every afternoon, 4:30-6 and puts out snacks that she purchases or makes.

The nightly prices stay low by charging for electricity separately. We were there for 4 nights during 90+ degree days. We ran our AC's 24 hrs a day. Total electricity - $18.72 for 4 days. This brought our nightly cost to a little over $21 (including taxes.)

There is an enclosed gravel dog area. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag).

WiFi is good here but there is no cable. Air channels are fair-good. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Caballo Lake is within walking distance. Beware of rattlesnakes and goat's head burrs.

We enjoyed the Hatch Chile Harvest Festival over Labor Day weekend.

Don't miss eating at Sparky's in Hatch. It's worth the wait (and there will be one.) Best BBQ in our experience...and the green chile burger!!! Yum!

Rate does not include electricity which is rated. Very nice, very clean, spacious lots. The view of the Caballo Mountains and Lake is wonderful. Close drive to Truth or Consequences and Elephant Butte. Park has dog run, happy hour every night between 4:30 & 6:30 p.m. Owner very nice. We would come back here if in the area. Very pleased with park, very quiet. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We are snowbirds and visited Caballo Lake RV Park on our way from AZ to WI on June 3, 2015. This park is a well kept very quiet park with 19 full hookup, 30/50 amp, pull throughs, able to handle large rigs. The cost was only $15 per night with electric charged by separate meter when you leave. It is very conveniently located just off of I-25 between Truth or Consequences and Deming, NM. It does not offer a store, laundry, or bathrooms (which people have in their own rigs). It does have a magnificent view of Lake Caballo and the mountains behind. It does have an area set up with outdoor games and a fenced dog walking area. We understand it borders the state park and has a path right into the state park. We were very pleasantly surprised by the owner who hosts a happy hour every day on her scenic shaded patio or in her home from 4:30 until 6. She is a most gracious and interesting host and even puts out her own appetizers. She had about 20 comfortable rockers with drink tables and cocktail tables conveniently placed for everyone to visit in a circle. We were able to visit with some long term residents, a couple from England, and a couple returning from Mexico who had started an orphanage there. What an interesting happy hour! We didn't have time to participate, but hear that she offers free tours of the attractions in the area. We hope to include this RV Park in our future trips to and from AZ and to take in some of the attractions like Shattuck Vineyard, the classic old west ghost town of Chloride, New Mexico's Hot Springs, the Geronimo Springs Museum, some gold panning, and the many other historic and scenic attractions of the area. We hope to make our stops several days long.

We highly recommend this unique park. We hope that you, too, will be very pleasantly surprised. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate is nightly, but only $150 per month plus electric. We enjoyed our stay very much. As others have stated, nice happy hour each evening hosted by park's owner. Very friendly, helpful people here. Beautiful view of Caballo Lake. The only minor ding is the lack of nearby services such as grocery stores, laundry, etc. which are available in Truth or Consequences. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This RV park is a gem. The sites are immaculately clean and the view of Caballo Lake and the Sierra de Los Caballos (mountains of the horses) from the park is fantastic. A very friendly park. Most likely you will meet new friends at the daily Happy Hour (BYOB) getting to know your neighbors. Good to know many have stayed here before and come back time and time again. Rate is nightly, but at $150 per month + electric it's the best deal in town. Good Wi-Fi and quiet, some road noise but no trains. Would stay again, and plan to in the future. I originally planned a 4 night stop-over but stayed 6 weeks in March/April. It's that nice. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Be sure to tour historic Chloride - a classic, Old West ghost town nearby, if time permits. Ask park owner about tours. City of Truth or Consequences is 16 miles north and offers dining, shopping, etc.

They have done a wonderful job of creating a homey environment for travelers. Nightly happy hour to exchange ideas and personal check-in make you feel welcome. No showers or bathrooms... no problem. Great view of the lake. We will stay here again. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stopped here to get off the road on a windy day. What a find. Nice level sites and good hook ups. Easy off and on from I-25. Some of the nicest people we ever meet on the road. Happy hour was great. We felt like we were part of the family. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice campground, not far off the interstate and easy to access. Quiet, no trains. It is such a nice place to stay. Gravel sites but level and nice. Picnic tables at every site. The service was 30 and 50 amps, water & sewer, but electric is extra. You pay $15.00 per night plus 12 cents for electric per kilowatt. The best part about this campground is the owner. She is very nice and loves to visit and make your stay a nice one. We will return to this campground if we are in the area again - definitely. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very small park but the clean and the price is right $15.00 a night plus electric which was minimal. Happy hour every day and the owner is so nice and inviting. Our rig is pretty big so it was barely able to fit in the spaces. Couldn't find a bath or shower room, So maybe isn't one. We were in and out but would stop again, the area is beautiful. We camped at Caballo Lake RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
