Typical KOA with level, gravel roads and pads with a strip of grass between sites. We didn't hook up to water due to previous reviews. All other hook-ups were fine. Very friendly at check-in. Good cable. Wifi is useless and I was told that at check-in unless you want to go sit in the office. I could see several strong signals but couldn't connect to any of them. We did have a barbecue dinner delivered to our site and it was ok. It is an hour drive to Carlsbad Caverns and half hour to town. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We came in from Ft Stockton TX on Hwy 285. I highly recommend that you DO NOT take this route. Not only is there road construction, but this goes through oil country in Texas and there are many large trucks and wide loads hauling things. Lots of big BUMPs in the road. One very narrow one lane bridge. Worst road we've been on in our motorhome.

This is one of the better locations when visiting the Carlsbad area. From here you can drive South to Carlsbad Caverns or North to Roswell. The area is level and very dusty. Windy conditions are normal. The onsite restaurant is nice with good food and reasonable prices. They have a very good digital cable TV. In the evening, near the office/restaurant area, you will see plenty of fat squirrels and rabbits. The downside - the WiFi here really sucks - it is useless. However, you can go into the restaurant area where you can watch TV and get great WiFi reception. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Easy to get in/out of from highway. Easy to navigate nice wide roads and angled sites. Nice long pull thru. Very nice spacing between sites, much more than any other KOA we've seen. Utilities worked well. When park was full on the weekend the Wifi was useless but our Verizon Mifi worked very well. During the week when park was much less busy the park Wifi worked very well in the B row. We did not have problem with water taste but I use filters. Water pressure varied some depending on park occupancy but not too bad on low end. Laundry is clean, nice but expensive at $2.50 to wash. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Like most NM parks, sites and roads were gravel and dusty. But roads were wide and easy to navigate and the pull through sites were long. Power was good, WiFi too slow to use. And AT&T wasn't much better. The water tasted terrible, wort of any place we've been. And if the "hail cannons" in the nearby pecan orchard start blasting good luck sleeping. So kind of a mixed bag, better than most camp sites but some issues to keep in mind. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Very well laid out park. Wide roads, really long pull through sites, easy navigation, nice dog park, clean and well maintained. Very big rig friendly. Adjacent to open areas and easy access to a nearby reservoir. Lots of space to walk dogs, take walks or runs. They have good BBQ dinners that they deliver to your site. There were two issues. The wifi was not usable at the sites. You are at least an hour drive from Carlsbad Caverns. The park is about 20 miles north of the town of Carlsbad which is north of the Caverns. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Friendly staff. Large level sites. Clean restrooms. Wi-Fi ok. Fast food available in the evening, delivered to your site! Hardly any road noise. Quiet hours are from 10PM to 7AM, but at 4.30AM (!) the first trucks are started by the guys who have to go to work, leaving the trucks running for ten minutes before taking off, driving across the campground and let the expensive paying guests enjoy the sound of their fancy exhausts. This noisy show lasts until 6AM. Unbelievable. There must be another campground layout possible to avoid this. Until then, don't accept a site number higher than 9 to have a quiet night's rest. We won't be back on weekdays. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We wanted to stay two days and the only available site was a "premium". Cement patio, covered picnic area, a porch swing and a brick firepit...all very nice at a cost of $67. Staff was super great/friendly. We didn't use the pool and it appeared to be locked. level site, very roomy. Our big concern was NO TRASH SERVICE. You had to drop your trash at the entry dumpsters. And they were overflowing with garbage. No cans anywhere near the campsites and none at the end of the rows. I know you can save money by not employing people to collect trash and not buying cans to set throughout the park, but having to A) collect your trash in your motorhome and then B) "lug" it to the entry dumpsters was not a good experience. And for $60+, you'd think they could afford trash service of some kind. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Carlsbad Caverns are about a 50 min drive. The caverns were interesting. A mile and a half hike down very steep path, big room at the bottom and then a mile and a half hike back up very steep path. Very nice scenery within the cave.

Very friendly staff. Generous spaces. Pet friendly with two fenced play areas for off leash and a nice area to walk dogs. A bit far from the Caverns. About 20 min. from Carlsbad. They have on site BBQ and will deliver to your RV. Would stay again. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Caverns, of course. Elevators were out of service during our visit. We tried to go on the way into Carlsbad but please note there is very limited parking for RVs, especially long ones! So we made that 6 mi. drive up and couldn't stay. We went to Sitting Bull Falls. Amazing country and the falls were great. You can get wet there, and dogs are welcome to splash around on leads. Great picnic area.

Gravel sites with gravel roads. Hook ups were in the right spot and cable was good. Only 2 downsides were that the wifi was horrible at our site and the water was pretty hard. So try to get a site at either end of the row if you need good wifi. I walked to the end and it worked pretty good but of course we were put right in the middle. A few things to see and do in the area. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We reserved a big rig pull-thru for a 2 week stay and were assigned a buddy site where the picnic table and fire ring were at the door of the other "buddy." If I stayed again, I would request a non-buddy site because we would have liked to use the picnic table. (I left our grill on the ground and it was "watered" by the cats roaming the campground overnight.) The water was extremely hard, leaving a white powder residue in the shower and sinks. (We ended up buying a water softener.) We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the amenities at the park - too cool for the pool. Clean restrooms and showers - laundry room clean with newer machines. Some sites had patios and swings. This park offers different BBQ meals and delivers to your site. Great place for the kiddos to romp and play. Note that this KOA park is about 15 miles north of Carlsbad - half way to Artesia. We liked the quiet location yet within a reasonable distance to visit Carlsbad Caverns . Many different hiking trails in the area. Recommend to all. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Carlsbad Caverns are about 30 minutes drive. Local sites and parks a plenty. Shopping for supplies and such about 15 minutes into town. You could spend all your time at the park playing at the pool and enjoying the countryside.

This is a nice park with wide roads and the sites are a nice size. Like most KOA's it is over priced. All gravel roads and sites. It looks like a newer KOA so it was designed for the size of todays rigs. The location is about 15 miles north of Carlsbad, making it one hour to either Roswell or Carlsbad NP. So not real convent to either place to visit. We tried the dinner and thought it was just okay. Meat had been cooked a couple of days earlier and microwave to heat it up. The fries where frozen cut and not very good. The whole area because of the oil boom has grown and a lot of the parks have gone to monthly only, so if in the area we would return. We camped at Carlsbad KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Do not take 285 from Pecos to Carlsbad it is not safe. The road because of trucks is like driving on a washboard dirt road. Extremely busy with trucks of all sizes there are oil wells being drilled the entire distance. They lost 42 lives in one year it is that bad. We enjoyed both the NP and Roswell great day trips.

This is a very nice park. Wide, easy to access interior roads. Wide, long sites (tow vehicle fits in fine). Customer service is outstanding! We've not eaten in their cafe, but others rave about it. This is north of Carlsbad, so if you're driving to the Caverns or Guadalupe NP, you'll drive several miles south, but this park is worth the stay. Cable TV was a little wonky and didn't work for us. They do give you instructions, but we could never make it work, so we just used our antenna and got great reception. WiFi wasn't the best at our site, but worked in the office/cafe area. Hwy. 285. We stop in Carlsbad then drive through Pecos/Fort Stockton. AMAZED at all the oil/gas traffic on 285. For the next 100 miles thru Pecos, THOUSANDS of big trucks hauling every imaginable piece of equipment, machinery, etc. Some line-ups were 20+ trucks, then all the passenger trucks you can imagine. All going at various rates of speed (higher % driving EXTREMELY fast!).
