I tried to post this review earlier and was not able to due to the slow internet connection at this park. Looks like you have a great connection, but there is no bandwidth. That's just the WiFi - the park itself is a dump. You are greeted by a row of old beat up trailers crammed shoulder to shoulder as you round the office after signing in. That started it off bad. The roads are dusty and tight corners are everywhere. Sure, you have good 50 amp and good cable, but ambiance? Nope. Lots of perms, which is fine, but these were up front and messy. Would not stay here again. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Would not take passport but did not find out until we phoned in and were coming in....booked with Passport. Attitude was ...you can try elsewhere. Got there given a tent site though it was a last minute change for us. Electric and water...no sewer.. no Internet available...showers one had no head , one had no faucet door did not lock. Front and maintenance staff nice but next time will book somewhere else. 30 miles from Caverns We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Clean park, and friendly helpful staff. The area for dogs to run was dirt/rock, with poor fencing and torn green material hanging all around. Did not use that feature. We would stay here again. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived without a reservation, but they got us in anyway. This was the perfect spot for our visit to Carlsbad Caverns and the Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. The park is a little tight but manageable; we are 65' total length. They have two dog walking areas where your dog can run some. The park is easy in/out next to US 62/180. The people in the office were very friendly and helpful. The sites are level gravel with shade trees that didn't interfere with satellite reception. We didn't partake of any of the facilities but they do have a nice pool there. On our next visit to Carlsbad we will stay here. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Like previous reviews from others, this park is a dusty mess. You are parking on crushed/powdered gravel. Sites are very tight. We spent zero time outside due to dust from cars driving through the park. I recommend boondocking at Walmart for free. At least when you walk out of your motorhome you don't get grit in your teeth. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $42.00
Overall Rating:

I’d love to rate this park higher because the staff on check in were exceptionally helpful and friendly. There are also amenities here, as other reviewers have pointed out. But it’s basically a gravel parking lot and way overpriced, albeit within reasonable driving distance to the Caverns which is primarily what you are paying for. The gravel on the roads was so thick in a couple places that we thought we would have to use 4 wheel drive to get through it. In the area where there were trees, the spaces were very close. We had a premium treeless site which was easy to back into, level, and more spacious. We had very little problem with burrs in either of the two dog areas. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2013 - $44.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed here for two nights because it was Easter weekend and many of the other parks in the area don’t take reservations. The rate is $44, but they do offer Passport America (1 night only) and Good Sam discounts. Right on the main drag with gas stations and restaurants and it is about 22 miles to the Caverns from here. Check-in was fast, informative and very friendly. Now the campground it has many things – laundry, cable, clubhouse with game tables, full hookups, horseshoes, pet area, playground, indoor pool, showers, store and Wi-Fi. The sites are on gravel and right next to each other. The bathhouse (needs updating) and laundry are right next to the office so it is a walk from some of the sites. This was the most expensive campground we have stayed at in the last two months so I think the rates are high. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

My biggest problem with this park was the hard rocky grounds. They still haven't paved or smoothed the sites. The dog could hardly walk through the big and rough rocky sites and streets. There was a "dog park" area but the sticker burrs kept getting in the paws. The bath house was clean but badly in need of repairs and rehabbing. Not one of my favorite places. Note: there are so many full-timers there, who apparently go to work early, that I was awakened by loud pickup trucks leaving the campground starting at 3:30 a.m. and going until about 7:30 a.m. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here a week while traveling to Tucson. Check-in was fast and friendly and the entrance was easy to get into with plenty of parking. The sign at the park entrance is very small. The roads are dirt and everything is dusty. The lot sites are a little small unless you upgrade but all are level and some have shade. The Wi-Fi is a joke and don't even bother talking to the office about it, they will tell you it's a problem with your computer. Hookups are properly placed. They have a nice indoor heated pool and a game room. Dog rules are not enforced and we saw owners letting their dogs run free. The park is clean and well kept and quiet. Shopping is within a couple of miles. The park is nice, but not worth the cost. We might stay here again. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

All dirt sites, Huge, especially the back in sites across the back. Downside to these sites is the neighborhood behind with barking dogs at times. Older park that they are doing upgrades on will have to see how they go. Quite a few long term residents, but the sites were generally kept up so the trashy look we are all used to wasn't there. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

There are a few shaded areas, but only for small RVs or 5th wheels. 50 amp sites are nice and roomy with good water pressure. Hard to justify the daily rate of $41.50 plus tax though, since there are no paved roads (very dusty), lots of sticker burrs, and a few barking dogs running loose at night. The Wi-Fi there does not work in any of the areas, believe me, I tried them all. After asking the ownership about it, they said the Wi-Fi is not included in the rate. Our Verizon MIFI was intermittent. There is a small indoor swimming pool and arcade, but beware of losing your quarters in the machines. We would stay there again, only because there isn't much choice around Carlsbad, NM, since the one in town (Pecos River RV Park) is booked most of the time and the KOA is too far out of town and charges $47/night. We stayed there in a motorhome. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

We were assigned a site that backed up to a fence. It was good-sized; we could park our tow vehicle next to the rig. The interior roads are not paved and very dusty; the speed bumps are atrocious! Their website page that shows the rates can be misleading. The columns for ‘daily rate’ and ‘discount rate’ do NOT include the over 12 per cent sales tax. The ‘total rate’ column is based on the ‘discount rate’ plus sales tax. The water pressure was good; Sprint worked OK but the Verizon MIFI wasn’t consistent. Overall it was a pretty quiet park except for the unattended barking dogs. Paved roads would help justify the rate. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Nicely maintained and clean park. Dog run is very nice. Staff was friendly. We had the ribs at the guest BBQ area and they were very good. Overall a very nice park. We have stayed in many KOA parks and they are always very nice. Our only complaint is they are high priced. We would stay here again. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

When you check in you get a code for the restroom. This is a joke; the men's room has a hole where the lock would go if they had one. The ladies room isn't locked at all; there is no use to have a code; you can't lock it. The restrooms and showers are so dirty, missing tiles, no soap. It appears most of the first two rows are occupied by permanent residents in various modes of campers with big "worker" looking pickup trucks. People work on their motors and park in the roads. It's noisy and people are allowed to leave their dogs in campers while they work. The pool looked nice, but we didn't go in since you had to shower in the awful showers. We camped at Carlsbad RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Only stayed here for an overnight. The park is mostly gravel with some grass and trees scattered about. All utilities worked fine. The WiFi was fair, but we had no Verizon signal for a data connection. Rate shown is for Passport America discount. We would stay here again if traveling to Carlsbad.
