2 Parks near Carrizozo, New Mexico
Dec 2014 - $15.00
Trains pass through almost hourly all night long, just across the street. There was just one bathroom for both men & women & it was awful. Sites very poorly maintained, there was a sewage spill next to my site. - KKAmidon
Sep 2013 - $15.00
Though our cost was more than other reviewers paid. It is an excellent value for a basic overnight stop with Wi-Fi. Sites are fairly level and vary in width; length was adequate for our 31' motorhome with a SmartCar in tow. Check-in and parking were very quick and easy. We would stay here again. - K&D from GV AZ
Sep 2012 - $10.00
10 bucks gets you a site with full hook ups and free Wi-Fi really? Yes. You pay $10, select a site and get free (pretty fast) Wi-Fi, power, good water and sewer. Our site was spot on left to right. The roads are not paved and there are a lot of work campers. Park was very quiet and only an occasional train going by. Basic, no frills, great place to stay when passing through. Will definitely stay again. - Cyberdave-1
May 2015 - $9.00
What a treat! Wide paved road through park for easy access to spacious paved sites that have 50 amp service, great water pressure and amazing views! $18 or $9 with America The Beautiful Senior Pass! Definitely walk the interpretive walk through lava beds. RV sites with covered tables are on raised area above lava flows and tent area is closer to lava flows. Park has visitor center with books and literature explaining this high desert area. 5,200 feet is elevation! - RJourney

A few of the pull through sites are less than level, but the back in site that we chose had no problems. The views are spectacular and the walking trail is a must to truly appreciate the area. Showers and rest rooms were immaculate, very convenient dump station, and water/electric hookups were convenient. A small bookstore was open with inconsistent hours, but a friendly, helpful staff. This is the best place around to stay while you check out the Smokey Bear museum, Lincoln, and the White Sands Monument. A public facility at its best. - LMH
Mar 2015 - $9.00
This is a gem of a camp, just east of the lava field on a spit
of older rock. Beautiful walks in the field, and a high point in the camp with a 360 view.
Generously spaced, along one road. Quiet. Great stargazing!
Despite Web lies, the facility is nice, covered picnic tables, and hot
Rate reflects 50% senior discount.
