When we made our reservation, the person who took it didn't ask for a security deposit. "We trust you'll come". Wow - nice. Also asked for a river site, but they were full. "Don't worry, we'll put you on the list in case someone cancels." Sure enough, site #8 (best IMO) was available, a nice pull in right on the river. Fishermen as young as 5 pulling rainbow trout what seemed like every cast! Good dog run, but expansive grounds near park made walking the dog easy. Gravel sites, ours was level and dry despite recent rains. Fall colors a bonus! We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed on an interior site under the trees that was mostly level. Owners are very friendly and outgoing. Very quiet park along the river. We would stay here again. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is located on the banks of the Chama River, south of town. There both open sky and tree covered areas. Utilities and sites are both very good. Rate reflects a monthly stay, electric included.

The owners are just superb, and willing to help with any needs. He is the best escort/back in man we have encountered in our travels.

The sky is open enough for dish in the pull thru section.

It is very quiet in this park and dark night sky. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Ride the Cumbers and Toltec steam train, have a breakfast burrito at Fina's, you will have some for later, fish, drive Hwy 64 up into the high country and have dinner at the Cliffview Restaurant in the Brazos(and see the amazing cliffs!).

Lucked out with a back-in next to river for our one night stay. Some sites are well-protected in the trees and some others a bit crowded. We have stayed here several times and find it the best place in Chama to park for a day or more for visiting the area. A great open field is available for your dog to run as long as they are well behaved and will heed your commands. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here over the Memorial Day week-end. It is 400 miles from our home, but it is always nice to be in the Chama, NM area. The sites are level, big and shady. We spent a lot of time under the trees. There was a rowdy bunch around us...no knowledge about camping etiquette, but there isn't much you can do about that. We stayed through Memorial Day so most all the campers had gone by then. The grounds are immaculate as are the restrooms. Again, we enjoyed our visit. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is beautifully situated on the Rio Chama. We see deer daily. There are three types of site to choose from; premium river sites, canopy (under trees), and open pull-throughs that work good for satellite TV reception. We can walk to the campground/lodge next door for the restaurant. In late May, sticky buds dropped from the trees that stuck to our RV and towed. We like this campground so much we returned in July 2016. Mosquitoes are prevalent.

WiFi is typical campground WiFi; bring your own. No satellite TV; there are about 4 over-the-air English-speaking TV stations. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We are in the Chama area for the nature and exploring the many adventure motorcycle opportunities. Downtown Chama is about two miles down the road; great little grocery/hardware store and restaurant opportunities near the train station.

$5 margaritas and $5.99 salad bar at Fosters.

Check in was easy. Our first site did not work out . Change for another site was easy, no problem. Verizon and Mifi work great. Over the air TV is good.
Electric, water good. Laundry very nice. It you want river sites 1-8 they are mostly for drive in not for back in as connections are backwards as we found out. Nice location and very quiet. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Visited this campground in early September 2015; stayed in site 7 along the river. We found the campground well groomed, clean and attractive. Our site along the river was shaded, some, for instance sites 1 and 2 are more in the open which would be good for satellite reception. We did not use satellite and had excellent reception OTA with our RV antenna. The river sites are designed for motor homes to pull in but the staff was very accommodating in offering an extension cord if needed. We did not need it as our power cord was long enough to run under the RV. The campground was quite although nearly full. The sites are not too close together and those not on the river and under the shade trees are almost in a park-like setting. The best thing about this campground is the customer service. The owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, from leveling our RV (it only needed slight leveling) with their leveling boards no less ... to walking our dog at noon while we road the Cumbres Toltec train. Campground is big rig friendly and easily accessible from Hwy 64. They appreciate your business, take pride in their campground and it shows! We would definitely stay in this campground again. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Found some beautiful clothes while shopping in Chama, which I found surprising for such a small town. The Cumbres Toltec train ride and lunch at Osier was wonderful. If you can swing the Parlor car - do so; you won't be disappointed.

This was our fourth year at Sky mountain. Excellently hosted RV park on the Chama River. Quiet, cool well cared for park. Owner even helps you park and move tables to suit your needs. Good wi-fi, water pressure good electricity stable. We didn't even use the over the air TV (no cable available) set out every night to enjoy the cool clean mountain air. We will return. Very nice park, we had to back in to our site but it was very nice, trees abound. No cable but we were out and about most of the time. Nice fire pit if you choose to have a fire. Beautiful Rio Chama right behind the park and Rainbow trout are plentiful. Overall, great place to stay while riding the train and visiting the surrounding area. Would definitely stay again. This is one of the most beautiful parks we've stayed in. We had a river site, #2, which was beautiful , plenty of room between sites. These sites are designed for motorhomes to pull in for a view of the river, 5th wheels or travel trailers that back in might need some extra sewer hoses and such. Sites are fairly level, utilities were good, water pressure was approx 50 lbs. the owners are the best. Bill will do anything he can to take care of you, we stayed for 6 nights and loved it, we will be back. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects 5 week stay. Excellent park with wonderful owners who make sure that everything is clean, has good hookups, and all are made welcome. We had a back in with trees behind us and the owner came out and trimmed the trees to clear our satellite dish. There are pot lucks and entertainment with friendly campers-nice folks camp here. We enjoyed our stay here. The sites were fairly spacious. The owner guided to our space and helped us get parked in a site where the turning radius was very tight. The wifi was reliable. We had a fair Verizon cell and data signal. The sites in the tree canopy area had great green space in the center. The park is quiet and only about a mile out of town. We had excellent satellite signal. We would come here again. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
