Lovely spacious sites, well maintained facilities. Riverside sites have more useful hookup layouts for big rigs, but other types can manage. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We have stayed at this beautiful park on the Chama river several times over the years and every time we have enjoyed the stay. The owners are hospitable and friendly. They also have excellent "helpers" at the front office. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Spacious sites and friendly owners! This park is very quiet day and night which is what we want when we're camping. The laundry and restroom building was well lit and very clean. We made our reservations in January because we wanted a river site. The campground was pretty full most nights so I would expect reservations as far in advance as possible would be best for all travelers. They sell 5# bags of ice which is nice because the local grocery store only sells 10# bags which are too big for most RV freezers. The owner makes rounds each evening to see if any of the guests need firewood. We've never before been in a park where that was done. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Rate is monthly. Our site is a long, gravel pull thru with good utilities and open sky for dish, other sites are under trees. Interior roads are also gravel and easy to navigate. Laundry and restrooms are spotless. The owners are simply the best! The Chama River runs through the back of the park, with some sites overlooking it. Very quiet and dark skies at night. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Chama is a small town with a big attraction, The Cumbers and Toltec railroad steam train. If you haven't taken the 64 mile trip on this train, make reservations NOW! Try Fina's restaurant for a delicious breakfast burrito and The Boxcar for excellent enchiladas.

Overall Rating:

Sky Mountain is 2 miles south of Chama. Owners live on site. Roads and campsites are covered with an enormous amount of ¾" crushed CLEAN gravel which makes it especially easy to walk/drive on and is not dusty or muddy. It was raining and we never got muddy. They must have spent a lot of money bringing in all the nice gravel. Sites are spacious and level. Is nice mix of pull-thrus (mostly no trees for clear satellite), back-ins, some special sites along the river, and some under the tree canopy. Meticulously clean. Open grassy areas. Quiet. Good WiFi and Verizon cellular. Good electric. All sites FHU. Laundry (not expensive) and restrooms very clean. We thoroughly enjoyed it here without all the useless amenities of a 5-star resort. Will surely come back. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for one week. Owners very friendly and run a good campground. Assistance in getting to site and getting settled. We stayed in a pull through site and no complaints. Park is in a good location(good restaurant within walking distance), owners friendly, sites easily accessible. What more could you ask for. As we left, I told the owner that this was our first trip to their park and it would not be out last. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We parked next to the river, lots of shade. Part of the park was very open gravel and part is shadded. We will stay here again if we come back to this area. Owner is Very helpful and great at getting rigs parked. I observed him directing several back ins and he nailed it every time. The site was entirely gravel but was level. Utilities worked very well. Wifi was not strong all the time but ok the brief time or 2 I used it. We did use the laundry facility and it was extremely clean. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice RV park though the site we stayed at was very close to our neighbors. I would not stay in the same site again and would request a site with more space or I would find another RV park. The Wifi was terrible and they warn you if you "over use it" they will cut off your access. No exercise or walking trails so if you are trying to stay fit during your stay this is not a good park to stay. I would stay here again but no more than 3 nights. Once again we spent Memorial Day week-end at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park. We had a great stay. The staff and owners are always there if there is a problem and continue to run a first rate park. Will always come back every chance I get. Fires in the fire pit wasn't allowed due to a ban on fires, but it was not a big disappoint not to be able to have one. Excellent facility, we will come back again. The entire facility was really clean, the grounds, restrooms, showers, and common areas. The owners are on site and very helpful and involved in everyday operations. The owner escorted us to our site and helped me back in. The other folks working were very friendly and nice. We had a river site #1 which was worth the money. It was very clean, level, and easy access. Our site was a pull in site, thus utilities were on the wrong side for our back in trailer. We have a power extension cord and borrowed the sewer dump for site 2 before we left. They have a dump station on site as well, it needed. A 10' water hose worked ok for us. Don't let this concern you, it wasn't an issue. The owner offered to loan us a power cord or extension hose if we didn't have one. The site was worth the couple extra minutes to hook up. The Rio Chama is stocked and other campers caught fish everyday. Heated floors in the showers were really nice and prevents floors from being wet all the time and/or slippery. The dog park was nice. This was our first trip this year and the bar has been set really high for future RV parks. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful property on the river. We were lucky enough to get a spot on the river and we watched other campers catch trout each day. Well managed; clean park. Owners are very friendly. Some spaces are in the open and some in shade. A small section at the rear has back-in sites with a view of the river. Placement of the utilities for those sites is suited best to motorhomes, although we saw fifth wheels there. We camped in our fifth wheel on an open site which was adequately sized and level. Sites are gravel and have a picnic table. Nice areas for dog walking. Saw mule deer in park while we were there. Not sure why it's called a "resort", but it's a nice park and we recommend it if you are in the area. We camped at Sky Mountain Resort RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
