3 Parks near Clayton, New Mexico
Jul 2016 - $18.00
Beautiful view sites near the lake. No problems with power or water hookups. Most sites are terraced so everyone has a view. Lovely. Clean and well maintained. Quite a ways from town for travelers, but so worth it. I would most definitely stay here again. - LizzyWA

This is a small park with about a dozen RV hookups (no sewer) overlooking Clayton Lake, about 13 miles from the town of Clayton, NM. The after-hours check in instructions are confusing (we had no reservation), but we made it work. We stayed one night in site E1. The pull through site was long enough that we did not have to unhook the truck since we were leaving the next morning.
We enjoyed the dinosaur tracks and the scenic (albeit a little rough) ride out the next morning since this park is adjacent to the Kiowa National Grasslands. Looks like a great place to fish, either from the courtesy dock or launching your own boat from their boat ramp.
We would certainly look to stay here on our way from TX to CO in the future. - texasAUtiger

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The park is beautiful and quiet.
The fossilized dinosaur footprints were awesome! We are birdwatchers, and saw our first roadrunner here. Lots of swallows swoop over the lake constantly. If you do not have a reservation, the fee is payable with cash or check only. - Wv travelers

Nothing fancy here, but if you want clean, level, pull-throughs right next to the highway, this is the place for you. Easy in and out, very level and you can commune with the cows next door. No amenities, just electric 30/50, water, and sewer. - Gunny69

Park has fallen into disrepair from what others have posted. Roads were deeply rutted from a lot of rain. Sites were grass and not very level and looked too soft to use levelers. We opted not to stay after rocking our rig driving on the interior roads. Lady at front office was very nice and refunded our $30 with no problems. - Gunny69

Formally a KOA but without the KOA pricing. We checked in around noon and spent the afternoon relaxing. Buildings and grounds well kept and one loop was closed. I did not inquire as to why but thought that it is early for the season. - camp4evr

This park was on our way to Colorado Springs. Easy access off of SR 87. Easy in and out. Gravel lots. Use to be a KOA. Putt putt golf over run with weeds and in disrepair. Not much else in the area so good for an overnight stay. Utilities worked ok. No cable but easily got satellite . - TX Dreamers
