Only good if you must stay in this area. Sadly neglected. Looks like no maintenance has been done in years! Actually looks like it was abandoned. We tried three different sites and none were level. The dog yard was two foot of weeds. We would not stay here again. The bright spot was the lady in the office was very pleasant. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Great stop for a one-night stay. Former KOA. Sites are gravel and relatively level. All pull-through, full hookup available. Wi-fi decent; no cable. Some trees/vegetation to block wind. Has propane for refill on site. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an older, former KOA park. Our site was not very level, but the hydraulics took care of that. The owner and staff were very nice! The interior roads were easily negotiable, though I could understand if wet there could be some problems. There is no cable as the cable provider for Clayton has discontinued service. I also noticed there is no severe weather shelter. This is definitely a great place for an overnight. We will stay here again. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Decent place to stay for an overnight. The roads have some ruts and our site had a very deep rut on one side. We had to use leveling blocks and by the time we were done, our wheels were off the ground on one side. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are parking lot style with sufficient space for RV and a trailer. Lots are paved and not level. Several areas were not mowed. If you have a dog and take it for a walk here, the grass is full of burrs; keep them on the edge of the grass to avoid them. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Motorhome.

Definitely a no-frills park with little maintenance being done. Front desk staff was polite, but didn't offer much. Since it was just an overnight stop, we didn't mind but expected more from a former KOA park. Quiet and probably pretty in the Spring. Stayed here one night. Campsite was perfectly level..........no need to even disconnect my trailer from the tow vehicle. Quiet little park, easily accessible from the main highway. Will stay there again when I go through Clayton. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Stopped here for a two night rest. Found park to be okay for what we needed. I was impressed with the showers and restrooms. The best I had seen in a while. We used our mifi because their wifi was a bit slow. There was a little traffic through the park because they have the closest dump station to Clayton Lake State Park. A lot of overnighters stay here, but it is quiet at night. Staff was okay, but we did enjoy the resident stray cat that makes her home there. She loves the treats she gets from guests. We would stay here again. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a lot of beautiful country around Clayton. We drove out to Clayton Lake State Park. They have done a lot of work on this park and the road out there. It's a good park for a picnic and taking in the sites, but for campers there are few hook ups and no dump station. We saw a lot of wildlife along the road to the park.

Park has fallen into disrepair from what others have posted. Roads were deeply rutted from a lot of rain. Sites were grass and not very level and looked too soft to use levelers. We opted not to stay after rocking our rig driving on the interior roads. Lady at front office was very nice and refunded our $30 with no problems. Formally a KOA but without the KOA pricing. We checked in around noon and spent the afternoon relaxing. Buildings and grounds well kept and one loop was closed. I did not inquire as to why but thought that it is early for the season. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was on our way to Colorado Springs. Easy access off of SR 87. Easy in and out. Gravel lots. Use to be a KOA. Putt putt golf over run with weeds and in disrepair. Not much else in the area so good for an overnight stay. Utilities worked ok. No cable but easily got satellite . We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.

Grassy sites, not quite level, but acceptable. Very friendly office, lots of recommendations (only 2 restaurants in town, ha ha). WiFi good, lots of bunnies in the morning. Pretty good location for a quick pull-off night's rest. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Motorhome.

Pleasant office staff and easy to make reservation. Coming from Colorado Springs it was in the right place for us to stop. Not much else in the area. We had a long pull through, full hook up. The utilities were good. Could be muddy in wet weather. All sites look like they get satellite. No cable but great wi-fi. My Sprint hot spot did not have signal. My Verizon phone did connect to data. Only got two over the air TV channels. Easy access from 64. Would stay again if in the area. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Motorhome.

We ran into car trouble, and the owner was extremely helpful in getting a mechanic who could look the problem over on short notice. The park is spacious and quiet, with lots of grass and trees.

I loved the showers - immaculate, lots of water pressure, and nice, hot water. This stop turned out to be one of the highlights of our cross-country trip. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Clayton Lake State Park is about 12 miles away, is beautiful, and has fossilized dinosaur tracks - a big plus for grandparents! There is a museum nearby, a state park, and public land where you can still see the wagon ruts from the old Santa Fe trail.

Great bird watching in the area! I was able to get pictures of prong-horn antelope.

We have stayed here before so we came back, and what a disappointment. The whole campground is so neglected and run down it looks almost to be closed. Burrs all over the grounds so it is almost impossible to walk the dog. As one reviewer said, the desk lady was having a bad day. Picnic tables have peeling paint and broken boards so they can't be sat upon or used at all. Reservations are not taken when you call ahead. We will not be back even for a overnight stay. We camped at Clayton RV Park (formerly Clayton KOA) in a Fifth Wheel.
