We stayed here in December on our way to Utah from Texas and again in February on our way back to Texas. The park is about a 1.2 miles off of I40. Friendly staff and laid out nicely. They have heat tape on their spigots and exposed water pipes as it gets cold here. The only downside are the trains and planes. The airport is basically next door so you get some noise during the landings. Train tracks run behind the park. It really wasn't bad and certainly didn't keep us from getting a good nights sleep. They do treat veterans very nice here as current military stay free and former military receive a steep discount. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Good for a one night stay. Campground is fine; everything works. Airport and train noise depending on wind direction and flight pattern. Not much to Gallup other than the El Rancho Hotel and Cafe. It is an old Rte 66 standby; lots of movie star photos and storys. Worth an hour or so and the food is OK too. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

This was a quick overnight stay but seemed like a real nice park. Check in was quick and very professional. Almost all the sites are pull thrus, pea gravel, and ours was very level (most of the rest appeared to be as well). There were actually two sewer hookups to choose from and the water & electric were in good shape and conveniently places. There was also a small patio with a picnic table. The sites are fairly close together but not as bad as a lot of parks we've been to. The roads are paved and easy to maneuver And the free wi-fi actually worked! Didn't use the restrooms/showers but checked them out and they were very clean, very bright, and modern. Didn't get a chance to check out the laundry room, but judging from the restrooms I would expect it'd be pretty nice. Also didn't get to use the dog park, but nice that they have one. In my opinion, $32 and change (Good Sam) for a full hook up 30 amp site is a good price for such a nice clean park easily accessible off the Interstate and close to town. Would definitely stay again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Extremely well kept grounds and facility. The gentleman working the desk was so friendly and helpful. Nice little dog park and pool. Every site had a concrete pad for the provided picnic table. Also, each site had 3 different spots to connect the sewer, your choice! Park was super quiet. Absolutely would stay here again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

We've been on a 5-week cross-country trip and this was one of the nicest campgrounds we stayed at. There's a nice store and the campground has fresh gravel and is level. The management plans various activities for the guests. While we didn't care much for the town of Gallup, the campground is close to the downtown area. Very good cable reception and Wi-Fi. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here as a stop over after leaving the Balloon Festa. Very nice park with friendly staff. Had a pull thru in back of park with plenty of room for coach and toad. Cable TV worked great with lots of channels. Sites where gravel and were level. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have been here several times in the past and have found this to be a good stop on I-40 in western NM. There are a variety (as to amperage and hook ups (FHU or just W&E). I believe all sites are pull through with 60+ channel cable. Many sites are also satellite friendly. There are 4 cabins near the office. There is a second bath/shower/laundry facility (besides the one in the main building) along the back row of the park. As usual on this trip, the WIFI was fine until dark. The pool was closed for the season. There is also a large playground area. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I saw no signs of recycling. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a 5th wheel. The park was clean and the staff were friendly. We stayed hooked-up as we were there just one night, but the park was quiet even though there were a lot of construction workers leaving early in the morning. I would stay at this park again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This a very nice RV park for an overnight or short term stay. Office staff is friendly and very helpful and there is a very nice gift shop. Most of the sites are long, level and pull-through on gravel and with paved interior roads. Most are also full hook-up with 30 or 50 amp. Wifi was sketchy. Bathrooms/showers and laundry rooms are clean and modern. There is a medium sized dirt dog park but no grass. The park is convenient to I-40 and downtown Gallup and is a good stop for exploring nearby national monuments. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

Large gravel lot with marked RV pull-thru spaces. Conveniently located off I-40. Close enough to I-40 and the major rail route that there is some noise at night (traffic/truck noise, crossing horn blasts from train engine). But it is good for an overnight stop. On the downside - If you want 50 amp hookup, it is $2 extra per night. If you want cable (59 channels), it is $2 extra per night. Absolutely no dog pens, carriers, or fencing allowed outside (even though it is all crushed granite gravel, including inside the pet run area). We camped at USA RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Chaco Canyon is approximately 100 miles, but there is 23 miles of fair to bad gravel/dirt road on approach. This is probably the best campground on the south side of Chaco Canyon. Other attractions (Window Rock, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, etc.) have RV parks closer.

Very well maintained, neat and clean park. Even though it was on the approach to an airport close to a highway and rail yard, noise wasn't a problem. Park was very busy at this time of year filling up at night and emptying each morning. Full hook ups with cable and wifi that worked well. Like most parks wifi worked better in the AM than the PM. Free coffee in your cup and a snack bar made my stay enjoyable. I would stay here again. Easy on and off I-40. We camped at USA RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Park is near shopping and restaurants. If you don't want to drive through town you can jump on I-40 and go one exit (four miles) east to a shopping area just north of I-40.

Nice big sites; plenty long enough so that we didn't have to unhook our toad. No gate so the Papa John's guy could get in and deliver our pizza. Check-in was great. They are staffed until 8pm. Hook up was easy. Sites are pretty level pea gravel. Very easy to navigate interior roads; park and pull out. Map of grounds was accurate. Mostly wide open space but several trees around. Would stay here again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay in the park. Very friendly staff, and campers, while we were here. Large, level gravel pads and paved main roads. Stayed for a week. Amenities closed for the season, but looked nice. Nice gift shop attached, with some camping and grocery supplies, but also books, souveniers and gifts from the Southwest and Route 66. Dog friendly. We would stay again. We camped at USA RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Gallup is undergoing a downtown renaissance. The new Cultural Center, 2nd Saturday Art Walk, 11 murals and lots of other improvements. Route 66 still seems seedy and run down. Don't miss Bill Malone's Trading Post, or the century old Richardson's Trading. Ask to see dead pawn. The cultural center has wonderful displays upstairs and the tribute to the Navajo Code Talkers at the visitors center is very informative.

This is a pretty large park and according to the staff, has vacancies for drive-ins most of the time, but when we were there it was the beginning of the hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque and there also seemed to be an Airstream rally going on, so the park was full.We had a pull-through for our 45 ft motorhome and toad at the back of the park. Showers and restrooms were close by, however. WiFi worked better than most places, even with a full park. Roads are large enough to maneuver big rigs. Would definitely stay here again.
