The owner/manager was very friendly. The park is old, but the power and cable were good. Did not use the Wifi, but had a strong Verizon signal. Pull-through sites are small and tight, but easy on and off from the expressway. Manager was friendly and helpful. No sewer hook up, but had a dump station. You could get 30 amp for $19. Overall not a bad place to overnight. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our visit was a 1-nighter, in-and-out. First Impression: Ho-hum {yawn}. A gravel spot-beside-the-road with crowded pedestals. Safety: Not near a residential area. No night lighting. We took extra security precautions. Access: East I-40, exit 81 (A or B), head south on Ice Caves Road, turn right immediately after the east-bound off-ramp onto Zuni Canyon Road. Ice Caves and Zuni Canyon roads in good condition, but CG sign just off the interstate hard to see, hidden by untrimmed trees. Garmin GPS does not have this CG in its database. Office: Nice reception, token store with just a few snacks and even fewer RV equipment items. Credit cards accepted. No web site. Good Sam price discount. Facilities: No pool, spa, fitness room or rec center. Two washers, two dryers in corner of office. Restrooms/showers not inspected. No propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter. Moderately wooded. Interior roads are very narrow, gravel in good condition with very sharp, narrow turns and over-hanging branches. Big rig and long coach challenging. Prevosts shouldn't even try. Tent area "across the street". No yurts or cabins. Sites are all very close, sufficiently level, gravel, pull-through and back-in, no landscaping. Pedestals at middle of site with electric 20/30/50; some sites are metered. Adequate water pressure with fair taste. No sewer at sites, use dump station. No patios; no picnic tables. Fires not permitted (no room). Marginal satellite views (tall trees). Free cable TV (46 channels). Free Wi-Fi but poor coverage away from office. Verizon phone and 4G at 4 bars. No recycle bins. Noise: Distant railroad w/whistles. No aircraft or interstate noise but CG is adjacent to major roadway with loud traffic. Bug Report (mid October): no insects noted. Runners: Entire CG not good for running. Yoga: not at this CG. Conclusion: Score 4-Weak but low price makes it palatable for a short stay. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park may seem a bit funky but it filled our needs exactly as we stayed here for a week to visit all of the local sights. All of the hookups were adequate and the site was easy to level up on. The rigs are close together and the highway and railroad noise are there but we have had this with us before. The park was excellent as a central point to visit the two national monuments, Route 66 and local pueblos. It is a much better value than another nearby campground. The management was very helpful and made sure everything was right in our site. Both Verizon and DirecTV were attainable from our site. We would stay here again. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very close to I-40 but quiet. This is a small, older park but it's nicely kept up and a steal at this price! There are multiple washers and dryers available in the lobby (don't know the price to use) plus lots of brochures and useful fliers. Free WiFi (several different ones include one just installed) and cable TV. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is located at the start of NM53 the ancient scenic route between Grants and Zuni. There are numerous interesting places to visit nearby including El Malpais National Monument, Bandera volcano and ice caves, El Morro, and much more.

We would not stay here again. It is old and most of the units are permanent residents with run down, old, dumpy trailers. The one next to us was being held together with tarps, cardboard and duct tape! The only reason we stayed here was to see the Acoma Pueblo and it was cheap! We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Wanted a place to stay for the night. Fit the bill. No frills but clean and everything worked. Train noise occasionally and you are close enough to the Interstate to hear traffic if your windows are open.

This park is best for an overnight stay as the price is right and it's close to the freeway. When you first pull in you may think OMG, however we had no issue getting our 39' fiver parked. As previously mentioned, the sites are close. They do offer cable TV which we didn't try as there was no cable connection next to our site. It appears the connections are at every other site and I didn't want to have to route a cable underneath the fiver just to get it for one night. Used the facilities once and found them to be very clean. No issues with water pressure or 50 amp electric ($2 more). We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The staff were very friendly and attended to your every concern. We stayed for a week and toured the area and the camp ground was the perfect fit. The cost was most reasonable.

The only thing that was some what of a bother was the trains passing thru sounding there horns. Most times with the air conditioner on you didn't hear them. That's the only reason for not giving the park a 10. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Small park! Of the 25 spaces, 75% were long-term or permanent and if spaces 23 thru 25 were occupied, 20 thru 23 (pull-thru's) wouldn't be able to get out except by backing up.

Additionally, the park was on an access road to I-40 with the railroad crossing just passed that. The trains went thru regularly 24 hours/day and blew their whistle 3 to 7 times each time thru. Very noisy park.

No dog walking area within the park; had to walk on the side of the road or in the desert. 1 picnic table for 6 sites!

Advertised free cable: cable was very grainy.

Price included a $2.00 uncharge for 50AMP and also included tax and Good Sam discount. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The KOA is across the street and would have the same noise issues for twice the price. Owner also owns Bar S in Milan and claims that is a train quiet area without the whistle.

This park and the KOA are the closest to Bandera Volcano which is about 25 miles south

Location made for an easy on/off on the expressway. Amenities all worked well, including electric, water, cable, and WiFi. The campsites were incredibly close and the night manager on duty while we were there parked a 5th wheel towing a 4-wheeler about 5 feet in front of our doorway. Even though they were gone pretty early in the morning, I found it fairly rude considering there were two more spots open that were 20 ft further away from us. I also had to wait over an hour to pay our bill in the morning because the manager had run to the post office. This campground might be good for a one night stop over, which is what we were looking for, but I couldn't see myself coming back. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Nothing fancy - no amenities - some weeds growing around property - but the price is right at $19 and for the money, it was a great three days! Office staff was nice. Train 0.5 miles away that you can hear a couple of times in the night, but it wasn't bad - hey, goods need to be transported, right? Easy in and out with long, level pull-thru sites. Great proximity to lots of national park units/properties and other Southwestern cultural sites; regional NPS Visitor Center just one exit away. Only one toilet/shower for each men/women + one handicap-accessible, but this is a small park so there was no waiting, and the shower was one of the best I've had in a long, long time! 2 w/d in a dated all-purpose room; fit for purpose but not the best. But again, for the money.... 40+ channels via cable. Their WiFi okay, but our Verizon hot spot worked great. We would stay here again. We camped at Blue Spruce RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Grants is a used-to-be town, but still, there's a nice mining museum, and it's on Route 66, so it's nostalgic. Walmart is 4 miles east & typical fast-food chains are within a mile (McD's, DQ, KFC, Subway)... not a lot more nearby, but still, Grants is a great stopover place for a night or two or three.
