We visited for a week in Nov 2018. Very nice neighbors, quiet park and a fun place to be. Not a lot in the immediate area. We will certainly be back next time we're in the area. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

We spent a week at The Ranch, using the first-time stayers option of $50/week plus electric. We were there after "prime" season, so there weren't a lot of folks staying in the park, but those who were there were so welcoming and helpful. We felt like we had returned "home" even though we didn't know any of the folks before arriving - by the time the week was up, we felt like we were leaving family. At this park, you are staying on one of the leaseholders' lots, so each lot is different. If your rig is over a certain length (24'?), you will be placed on a lot that has gravel instead of a concrete pad, to protect the leaseholder's lot from damage. Cellular/internet service on our personal devices was very good here. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Participate in happy hour - bring your own drink and be ready to be welcomed! Visit Carlsbad Caverns - if you are ok with moderate walking, recommend renting the audio-guide, walking in and the self-tour of the Big Room, taking elevator out. If you are more limited in walking, take the elevator down and up. Visit Artesia - see the bronze statues - learn about the history of the area!

Great hookups here. No problems with the water, sewer, or power. Laundry facilities clean and reasonably priced but I did not like that you had to sign up for a time slot to do your laundry. The residents here are very, very nice - but there is nothing to do at the park or in the area without a long drive. Even WalMart is far away. We are Xscapers and were very ready to move on after a week here - just nothing to do - but some people could see this as a good thing. The air quality was also noticeably bad from the oil refinery up the highway in Artesia. Again not a fault of the park but beware. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

We stopped at this park to take advantage of a special deal where first time visitors stay for a week for $50 + electricity. We stayed another week because the park is very friendly and we did not want to be on the road over the holidays. As mentioned, the happy hour is somewhat different and we chose not to attend every night. My complaint about it would be that it was too structured. There are activities in the park such as Bingo and Pokeno. One huge plus is that all the water in the park is RO water. We are Escapees members and would definitely stop here again. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Artesia, which is the town to the north, has a very nice walking tour and some nice places to dine. Carlsbad, to the south, is the larger city and has more shopping and dining. Carlsbad Caverns NP is south of the Carlsbad and a hidden gem is the Sitting Bull Falls in the Lincoln National Forest which is accessible to the west about halfway between Carlsbad and Artesia on NM-137.

Overall Rating:

Yes, this is a uniquely friendly park (read their website). It appeared that many of the residents and RVs have been staying here for awhile. We went to the "happy/social" hour and were offered coffee and tea then it quickly changed to what felt like a meeting. Singing "God Bless America" and loosely following the Robert's Rules of order. Newcomers were invited to go up to the podium and share who, what, when, where, why. Announcments followed including a craft project/explanation, who is ill and their status, who could oversee the 'happy/social' hour the next few days, who is leaving and singing "Happy Trails" to them. We are younger full time travelers and this "format" may appeal to others but it is not for us. Overall, we felt safe, our site was extra large and gravel covered. The CG was quite a distance from stores and attractions, we are Escapee members. Good for an overnight. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Internet special offer, $50 for a week plus electric, was hot so used AC everyday, electric was $14.70. Everyone was very nice and park was close to several attractions, (Carlsbad Caverns and Roswell)! We joined Escapees because of the welcome we got there. Nice relaxing area to visit. We'll be back and stay longer! We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped here to visit Carlsbad Caverns and liked The Ranch so much stayed a second night just to enjoy the peace. Very well maintained, very friendly and managed Escapee Park. Easy off/on from Hwy 82 going north and south. The Caverns are approximately 50 miles south. Both Carlsbad and Artesia have plenty of restaurants and stores. Would absolutely stay here again when in the area. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects SKP member plus electric. This is a very friendly park with lots of activities, located on a working ranch between Artesia and Carlsbad. The sites are spacious, level and all utilities (including RO water) are fine. The sky is open for dish and it is quiet and dark at night. Many nights, we could hear coyotes howl in the distance. We will return. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first escapes park and we loved it. Everyone was so friendly and included us in all activities. Some of the nicest people you will meet on the road. They placed us on a nice lot which had plenty of room for our 5th wheel and lots of room to park the truck beside. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

The rate reflects a monthly stay. The weekly rate is $80 with a discount for the first week's stay. This RV Park is an SKP Co-op park. You must be a member of Escapees or a guest of a member to stay. It is conveniently located between Carlsbad and Artesia, New Mexico. It is a short drive from Roswell. The sites are spacious and level and most include concrete pads to park on. The water is the cleanest of any park we've been to. The full-time residents and guests were very friendly and welcoming. There were plenty of events including a daily "happy hour" and movies on Saturdays. There was a lot of wildlife including bunnies, jackrabbits, road runners, doves, and more. We heard coyotes at night. There was plenty of space inside and right outside of the park to walk and exercise the dogs. Brantley Lake is four miles away with areas to walk, swim, fish, and launch boats. Sitting Bull Falls is about 40 miles away with beautiful hiking trails and waterfalls. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

Artesia is the closest town to the north. Carlsbad is about 20 miles to the south. Both towns have shopping, grocery stores, Walmart, restaurants, hospitals and medical clinics, propane, and auto repair.

The is an Escapee Co-op park, you must be a member to stay here, but they will be happy to sign you up. Park is kept very clean, electric is steady, water pressure is 45PSI, but the water quality is excellent due to an reverse osmosis system. Sites are full hook up, they do offer a boondock area without hookups if you prefer. Location is remote, 18 miles to the nearest milk/bread, however very quiet. Located in the middle of a working cattle ranch but park is fenced and the few cows you might see do not enter the park. Nice clubhouse, friendly people and well planned events and activities. Office staff is very knowledgeable about the area. Park is kept very clean. Lots to do in the area, just need to drive a bit to get to them. No train noise, extremely good star gazing. We would stay here again. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Roswell UFO museum is fun. Eat at Henry's BBQ in Artesia. Visit the Living Desert State Park and Zoo in Carlsbad, beautiful park. Fort Sumner is worth a visit, Billy the Kid Museum is awesome, his gravesite is just a few mile up the road. Eat at Fred's there. If you're inclined, a visit to Alamagordo is worth the trip. Visit the Space Museum in Alamagordo.

Rate reflects dry camping at $5/night with first night free. The camp is immaculate and has the friendliest service and residents that I've encountered anywhere in my travels. There are lots of activities, although geared to an older set. The location is a little far for the Carlsbad area attractions, but Artesia, a must-see town, is just up the road. Overall Rating:

We stayed here on the $50.00 per week special and the next week at the reduced rate, $80.00 less 20%($67.00). You must be an Escapees member to stay here. Our site was very large and the back in easily accommodated our 39 ft fiver and truck. All utilities where very good, and worked properly, with a clear sky for dish. The park has a RO water system, therefore, great water! It is very quiet with dark night skies here, owing to its rural location between Carlsbad and Artesia. All services in both cities are available, including Wal Mart, restaurants, and a Chevy dealer that we needed. The SKP's could not have been more friendly and welcoming, a very nice community here, with many activities and get-togethers. This is a co-op park, so there are lots for long term lease, should you want to stay year around or for several months. We camped at The Ranch - Escapees Park (members only) in a Fifth Wheel.

The new Artesia Public Library, with its' Peter Hurd mural and the public art along Main Street are simply outstanding! Lunch at the Adobe Rose in Artesia was delicious. Carlsbad Caverns NP, the bat flight and Guadalupe Mountains NP, were well worth the drive.
