This was a one night stand for us. Just off Interstate 40 and close to fuel. The sites are gravel and ours was flat. Many, many permanents but still clean and friendly. The office IS closed between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM, as someone else wrote. Of course we arrived at 12:30 pm. But - no problem. We just picked an open site and hooked up after we filled out their form in the box on the door. It was noisy from the Interstate and we did experience a 1 hour power loss (not the fault of the campground). The owner also owns Blue Spruce RV park in the same town. Don't put your awning down - very windy town. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is convenient to highway....since it sits between the highway and several railroad tracks. Sites are mostly seasonal but pull thru sites are ok, shaded but long enough. It is noisy here. Park needs some updates but water and utilities are fine. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Got to go to the Mining Museum and into an elaborate mine display about uranium. Got to make a trip to the Bandera Ice Cave and volcano....you will be sitting in the middle of NM Ring of Fire...awesome. Best grocery in town is not Wal-Mart nor Smith's...convenient to the RV park is Brooks.

Overall Rating:

Very tight gravel parking lot with some long term users. We pulled in late and left early. Sites were very close together, really no separation at all, just enough to walk between and hook up to the utilities. Loud trains and road noise. Probably would not stay here again, but it worked and we had full hookups. Definitely not a destination place. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: October, 2017 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed overnight at the Bar S RV Park in our 40' fifth wheel. We had a very long pull-through site with plenty of room between us and our neighbors. Although we did not use the facilities, we were impressed with how neatly the campground was maintained. The campground is very close to I-40 but we could not hear any highway noise. The only real negative is that there are railroad tracks within a few hundred feet of the campground. There are trains running all night, with some of them literally shaking the ground under our rig. Despite that, the price is great so we would probably stay there again. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We chose this park for a overnight stay only as it had convenient access from the I-40 and two large travel centers for fuel. The site was gravel and long enough for our 39 foot fifth wheel and tow vehicle without unhooking which was desired. Freeway noise was minimal but the trains ran every 20 minutes all night long! The utilities were well-placed and easy-to-use. We were charged an extra $2 a night in order to use 50 amp service. We used OTA television stations and did not hook up to the cable or use the WiFi. Verizon service was excellent. The designated dog walk area turned out to be the back rear corner of the park which was actually parking for RVs as towers were present. No one had picked up dog waste for a long time as it literally was a couple of inches deep. We ended up walking the dogs on the access road in front of the park. Due to the train noise we probably would not stay here again. Know what else I should put they charge $2 extra. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a one night stop off for us. The campground was very clean and the people were very friendly. It was easy to access from the interstate and it had food and fuel very close to the Park. The only downside is there were lots of trains throughout the night passing through 1/2 mile away. We would stay here again. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park. Level gravel sites easy Big rig access. Slight drawback is closeness of railroad. Tracks very near, trains run all night. They do not blow their horns so it is only a minor inconvenience, did not interfere with my sleeping or watching TV. Easy access from I-40. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This RV park is just off the interstate and is a convenient place to stay for a night or two when traveling. The lots are level, with one tree on most lots. There is a railroad track nearby, so trains at night are a factor, but not loud enough to prevent us from sleeping. The hookups are in good shape, reasonably new and maintained ---- they work properly. We have stayed here once or twice a year, and certainly would stop here again. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice park for the price. The staff is friendly as well as your fellow campers. Our site was gravel but very level. We would have stayed longer if we hadn't had previous arrangements. Perfect for overnight! You do not have picnic tables but there is a communityone in the shade. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

$220 a month plus electric at 13 cents per kWh! Open all year. I am shocked at these low prices! It is not a 5 star park but it is very nice. Nice level gravel lots, 30 & 50 amp service, sewage and water and over 50 cable channel and great Wi-Fi! Exit 79 on interstate 40 and just follow the signs for a few hundred yards. There are 25 restaurants within 5 miles of this park. Every lot has a pine tree that does not block satellite signals. Most lots are pull-through. I am not affiliated with this park and just passing it on as an unbelievable bargain. We camped at Bar S RV Park in a Motorhome.
