Four day visit and what a great site. If there had been sewer it would be a ten. Great bike riding and hiking in park. Water and 50 amp electric good. Our site - 34 on the Juni Loop only required 25 ft water hose and 30 foot electric. Need park map to get around till you get the hang of layout. CHEAP gas just outside of park with small well stocked store. Juni restroom was closed but others nearby were newer anyhow. Site 34 was easy in first try with our 38ft motorhome - actually could take 40 footer with some room to spare. No wifi but Verizon hotspot handled web surfing and email. Actually had two picnic tables with one covered. Juni Loop is showing it's age but is still a very good choice. Just about every site in the loop has fantastic views. Plenty of toad parking space along edge of road and next to RV with careful RV spotting. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Stayed for two nights very quiet campground. I stayed at lot 054 had water and electric no problems with either. The site is paved however not level at all remember your blocks. We will be going back I must say I only live about 40 miles from this campground. Well worth the it many people that we met are from right around the area. Staff where friendly so where the other campers. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

We got a spot in the older original campground loop which we have been in before. We used our senior pass. Our site was asphalt and easy to level up on. We like it up here because the sites are further from each other. There is good 50 amp service here and there is water but you will need about 75 feet of hose to reach it. Verizon Cellular is strong here. You can pull in over 60 channels with your crankup antenna. DirecTV is easy to get here because there are no trees in the park. It can get pretty hot here for the same reason. We would stay here again. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

This park was very convenient to many activities in the area. The restrooms were fairly clean but could be better. Our site (55) was not very level and we needed our pads to bring in up quite a bit. However, the view was beautiful. The hosts and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There are many things to see in the area including touring Santa Fe. There is the Scandia Peak Tram ride in Albuquerque (we suggest the sunset tour), Valles Caldera National Preserve, Bandelier National Monument, Jemez Springs, The Turquoise Trail, The Scandia Crest Drive (can be rough but beautiful) and many other beautiful back road drives. We also sampled many of the casinos in the area.

Good COE park between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. About 13 miles from I-25 and another 20 miles to get to Santa Fe. 18 miles from I-25 and another 32 miles into Albuquerque. There is an older camping section called the Juniper loop with water and electric and a newer section with water and electric called Buffalo Grove. There are also 2 new sections with no water or electric called Elk Run and Ringtail Cat. We stayed in Buffalo Grove. The spaces in all of the new sections have nice paved pads that are fairly level. A number of the spaces in the old Juniper loop seem to have been dug out of the side of the hill so the area around the paved parking pad is not flat. Water pressure was good and required a pressure reducer. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

You have to go to Tent Rocks and hike...no dogs allowed though. Ride a bike to the other end of the dam for a good 10-11 mile ride that is flat. Los Alamos, Bandelier and Valles Caldera can be reached via a very rough gravel/dirt road that goes through the mountains with a high clearance vehicle. At one point you will have to drive up a stream as it's part of the "road". Go the long way around on the interstate if you're not up to an almost off-road experience.

Kasha Katui (Tent Rocks) is very beautiful park for hiking and viewing tent rocks-10mins from campground. Old Santa Fe about 40 minutes, Bandelier National Monument about 1hr - very beautiful and well worth the trip (a lot of hiking and climbing ladders), Albuquerque (Old Town) about 1hr.

The lake is very beautiful and the stay was great! The only complaint I have about this campground is that they do not allow primitive camping for tents and no campfires are allowed either. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Tent.

A nice COE campground. Roads and sites are paved with some fairly level and others not so much. The park is popular and weekends it is hard to find a spot for larger rigs. Buffalo loop has water and 50 amp. Satellite reception is good and Verizon 4G is OK. We stayed 3 nights staging for the Albuquerque Balloon Festival and it is convenient for that. The park could do a better job of marking the roads. We had trouble finding Buffalo Loop and saw many others driving around looking for their site and others trying to find the road out! I mentioned this to the folks at the visitor center and they seemed to care less. We would stay here again. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

Unbelievable campground! Paved roads; long, paved pull-through and back-in FHU and W/E sites; covered picnic tables, nice restroom/shower buildings, and great views of the lake. Big flocks of sandhill cranes flew overhead on their way from Monte Vista NWR in CO to Bosque del Apache NWR near Socorro. You could hear them for miles as they circled Cochiti Lake. All this for $10/night with the Senior Pass for a campground within an easy commute of Santa Fe! Sure beats $40/night for noisy, crowded RV parks in town. We definitely be back and will tell everyone who will listen about this campground. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a well-maintained Corps of Engineers park. The sites in the lower camping loops are paved and all have pagodas over their picnic tables. Some have electricity and water and others are primitive. The Juniper loop has asphalt sites. Some are quite narrow and others are on the short side. We have been here before so chose site 33 in the Juniper loop. It is long enough for our 32 foot fifth wheel and double wide. It also has a view of the lake. Sites in the inner circle of Juniper loop have water and electricity. Sites on the outer circle have only electricity. Our rate reflects our Senior Pass Discount. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Had reservations for 6 nights. We stayed on Buffalo Grove Loop which has water and electric. Sites are fairly level, pull-through or back-in and are large. There are other loops that are dry camping or electric only. Campground is quiet with nice views of the lake. There is no wifi but Verizon was good. A dump station is available. The hosts were very friendly and helpful with maps and things to do in the area. Even the park rangers are friendly; we watched them help a camper put his tent camper up in the rain. We would stay here again. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

The reason for the rating is most sites are unlevel either front to back or side to side. Do not come unless you have plenty of leveling blocks. Nearest town is Santa Fe. There is a convenience store outside the campground with the usual convenience prices. Probably would not stay here again because of leveling issues. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.

We stayed in a site on the outer loop in Buffalo Grove. The Park is well maintained and the sites are large. None of the sites are on the water and very view have a water view. Ours had a nice view of the mountains. You have to drive to the swim beach. While we liked the park it would not be a destination spot for us in the future. For us the location was inconvenient for day trips. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Buffalo Grove Loop-beautiful setting, mostly quiet except for kids on weekends. Concrete pads, sheltered concrete picnic table, solar powered pole light provides soft light beside table at night. Bathroom and shower facilities are modern and well maintained. Pull through sites are unlevel and almost dangerous because of this. Back in sites appear to be more level. Cigarette smokers should be required to pick up their cigarette buts just as dog owners are required to pick up after their dogs. We camped at Cochiti Lake COE in a Motorhome.
