This is our second stop at the park this year (the other stop was in Spring). I felt the need to update some information. The bathroom/shower facilities at this park are the best and newest I've seen at any park! Some people mention the cattle feed "smell". It IS there when there is no wind. It's not the worst I've smelled... but if you're not used to it, it can be over powering. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

After a three night stay here, here are my thoughts: PROS: We were in site 26 which has a totally level, long concrete site. 50 amp with water. Tons of space between sites. Park is only 4 miles from the town of Portales, NM - Super Walmart near little cafe in town (Do Drop In). Lots of quail and cottontail rabbits. CONS: FLIES AND WASPS. There are tons of both. Couldn't figure out why so many flies but when I stepped outside our coach the first night the reason was obvious - the smell of stock yards was overwhelming. Discovered that this area is HEAVY with dairy farming. Folks, the flies and wasps are extremely thick and you are constantly chasing them down in your car and rig. MAJOR CON: every single water faucet in the park has a warning sign hanging on it warning of HIGH nitrate levels in the water (almost twice the safe levels) which is caused by the dairy cattle's poop and the fertilizer that has leached into the water around the town. (Wasn't an issue for me because I just used fresh water I had on board - I didn't even hook up to the faucet because I didn't want any of their water in my water system. FYI: The entire time we were here, we NEVER saw a park employee. A little unusual to say the least. Even with the negative points, I'd definitely return if I was ever in the area again. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Campground very nice with lots of space between sites. You are in dairy country so lots of flys and sometimes the smell from the cows can be ripe from the dairy feed lots. Nice fishing pond onsite. Visit the Blackwater Draw Site while you are here. This is where the Clovis Point was found. Water is not really drinkable, nitrates and arsenic. All the restaurants serve bottled/filtered water. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground has wide open spaces visible with not a lot of hiking available. There are some trails through some sand dunes between/near the different campground loops. The sites have nice covered picnic table areas on concrete slabs along with a grill at each site. There is a nice stocked pond on site that has catfish in the summer and trout in the winter. The only wildlife seen here are a few scaled quail and rabbits. The only downside is that the dump station is "under construction." The campground reservation verification email says it's been this way since 2016. If you click on the "Announcements" link, it says it's been this ways since at least March 2017. Make sure your tanks are empty before you get here. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Good inexpensive overnight stay. We paid $14 plus the $4 reservation fee thinking it might be busy on a Saturday night and we wanted a pull through. The campground wasn't even a quarter full so reservations probably aren't necessary.....YMMV All utilities worked great, the only negatives I can think of is the park road seems to funnel down to a single lane in a couple of places (but no traffic so that's really minor), there was no one manning the check-in and no good maps or signs...kinda confusing. The biggest issue was the lack of restroom facilities (there are two showers and two toilets, the men's room had a single toilet and urinal) We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

Great park between Clovis and Portales. The newest sites (25 and up) are large pull-thru sites with water, electric and a covered patio. They all face out away from the park. Paved roads and gravel sites. There is a small lake for fishing that is stocked with catfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass and trout in the winter. The only negative is the dump site is closed and appears to have been closed for some time now. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

The sites are mostly pull-through. All are gravel/dirt as are the roads. The RV sites are water and electric only; no sewer hook-up. As others have mentioned, the dump station is not operational. There are several sites that have shade trees and are quite pleasant. I believe these are all 30 amp. There are a few 50 amp sites. These do not have shade trees. They do have a covered concrete pad with a picnic table. The sites are wide and long. The 30 amp sites are shorter, but appear to offer more length than is listed on the park's website. There is a stocked fishing pond. There are (2) handicap 50 amp sites with concrete pads. There park is about 12 miles from Clovis and may be 3 miles from Portales. It is truly an oasis in the desert. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

The rate is $14. Reservations made online (through Reserve America) charges an additional $4 on top of the $14 campsite fee. The park does not charge the $5 daily park access fee for campers.

A park in the middle of pasture country. It does have trees and a three acre lake stocked for fishing. Not a place I would go out of the way to see but they do their best with what they have. My main complaint is the dump station has been out of service for over a year. Area around it is dug up but looks like nothing has been done for quite a while. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I put $20 in the envelope because it was worth it. The next morning the park manager came and gave me $6 back. I told him it was worth the $20 I put in the envelope and told him to keep the money and put it in the park fund. He refused. I told him I will be back around the 2nd of Dec. If you are in this area, check it out. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Motorhome.

This state park is primitive in what is offered unless you love the quietness of a wind swept prairie, fishing lake with a nice walking trail with benches around it and lots of bunnies and roadrunners to watch. Updates are being made with totally solar restrooms and showers, all levels of camping for very reasonable cost. We used a electric and water handicapped concrete pad with wonderful covered picnic table. We stayed only one night but if in this area again, I would look forward to staying longer next time. This is about 5 miles from town. You can go into town to eat or food stores without too much effort. There maybe wild life in area but I never saw anything to harm me. Has a camphost and park rangers if assistance is needed.

Hidden gem of a park in eastern NM! The pull-through sites are huge and well separated from neighbors. The gravel was level on our site, but we did see a few that were not. Each site had a grill and a covered picnic table. The park is undergoing some major renovations - water was recently added to the electric sites and more bath houses and pull throughs are being built. The dump station was being renovated when we camped so it was out of order. The RV sites are a quick walk to the lake, which is beautifully maintained and well stocked. An absolute ton of bunnies in this park, they're not afraid to hang around your site! We would definitely camp here again. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Nicely designed park, except that in the open area in between all the sites, they have a maintenance yard with junk all over the place - this really destroyed the beauty of the park. The sand dunes are mostly overgrown, but fun to walk through on the trails. The showers are unusable, as they operate on a spring-loaded button, and you have to keep pressing it every half minute or so to start the water again. Nevertheless, the bathrooms were very clean and modern. The customer service was excellent and very friendly, both from park employees and the wonderful campground hosts. The park was a reasonably good value except that the dump station was out of commission when I was there. During the three days that I was there, it was very windy all but one morning. The morning that it was calm, there was a horrible stench from nearby fertilizer operations, as well as a plague of tiny flies. But when the wind was up, neither of those was a problem.

If you have a longer rig and make a reservation, stay away from site #11 - you have to make a tight S curve to get in. We camped at Oasis State Park in a Travel Trailer.
