This park sits down below the Interstate and noise level is minimized. The park is cozy and personnel very friendly. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

I am loathe to give anyone such a low review...after all, these folks are trying to earn a living. That said, based on the previous reviews, we made a reservation at Summerlan RV Park. We called from the road and the woman took our cc information, but told us to call and cancel if we changed our mind. Once we got to Raton, we saw this park down in a little valley off I-25. It looked to be an older park and pretty run-down in appearance. After driving through, we realized this RV Park wasn't on par with places we generally stay, so cancelled our reservation. To her credit, our cc was not charged. Frankly, I just don't see this park warranting the high reviews it recently gotten...even if the stars were given in context with the options in the surrounding area. Granted, we didn't actually end up staying there, so take that into consideration. From our observation, this is an older park with, what looked to be mostly full-timers with older RV's. The sites were fairly close together as well. That alone doesn't mean this is a "bad" place to stay, it just wasn't for us. We were tired from driving and it was getting late...if there had been no other options in the area, we would have stayed here, but as it happened, we found a nearby spot that we were happy with. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. Good stop for fuel - grocery (1 in town) - and a power charge. Interesting little town with some nice historical sites like an old Vaudeville theater. Campground is run by an older 'mom & pop' couple but the sites themselves are marginal. Sites are tight together (at registration they actually put a site between each camper to give enough room), 2 antenna stations (NBC PBS), cable offered but consist of only 'extra' stations - QVC, Nick, Cartoon, TLC, TBN etc. - no locals, movies or sports. WiFi offered but exceedingly slow if you actually connect. I realize it's a 35 year old park but I think it's at the top of it's price range for what it offers. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a nice place to park for the weekend. The couple were very nice to talk with. The only problem was our water didn't work, but we were full with water or we would've asked for a different spot. We will use this park again We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here overnight. The power was good (with a super dog-bone that actually converted to 50 amp). The water pressure was good and the sewer connection was convenient.
This park is right next to I-25. Our site was very close to the roadway.
This is a very basic RV park. The hosts are very helpful. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Restrooms mostly had no toilet paper and not real clean. Cottonwood trees leave a mess on everything and make it hard to breathe. Owners were nice but not helpful with any information about the area. The park looks messy with lots of "stuff" laying around. The price by month seems good but electricity is metered and is .20 per kWh which is ridiculous by most standards. There are lots of live in people in the park, some construction workers, some unemployed. Most keep their sites cleaned up and are quiet. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects Good Sam discount. We had a 30 amp full hook up, pull through site. Gravel with a few trees. Close to interstate and good location for one night, road noise not too bad. Lady in office was very friendly and gave us information as to where to get our tire replaced after a blowout on the way. Wi-fi was okay. Laundry room available. We would stay here again for a night on our way to Arizona. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Small park, very close to the Interstate. Rather beat up locale. Does the job for one night. The owners are very personable and thoughtful. Honestly, not my first choice, but the park I went to first, was closed and abandoned. I was tired and ready to stop for the night and this one was next on my route. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

We arrived here after moving from another campground. This was by far a good move. The service was very good. They have RV parts in the office with very nice camping spots. I will come back to this campground next time! We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here on the way to Santa Fe, the lady who greeted us was very pleasant. Shower block was very run down and not very clean. The campsite was just a gravel area, very near the I-25 so very noisy, the area around the campsite was just run down buildings, not much of a view. Lots of permanent campers. Wouldn't stay here again. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Good overnighter, not much to the area or city of Raton. Gravel, fairly level sites, charge extra for 50 amp service. Many trailers here appear to be in sites as storage. Very nice staff. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Good place for a night or two, not a destination. Highway noise wasn't too bad. Staff friendly. Sites are only 19 ft wide for pull-throughs. Not much to see in town. Restrooms and showers were nice. Would stay here for a night or two. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

They have very friendly staff members. The park is near an I-25 exit which makes it easy to find, but also being that close to the highway meant that the noise level was rather high. They have rather narrow pull-thru sites. All things considered I doubt if we would stay there again. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stuck here with a friend who was broken down and felt fortunate that this park was as nice as it was. Very nice and helpful owners/host. Sites are close, but held a 45' with towed while we were there. Very nice restrooms and showers. While there - go to the old Sugarite ghost town State Park, and take the north road to Capulin. Rate reflects a GS discount and is based on a weekly rate of $180. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We came in on a Sunday morning and the office was closed and did not open. We self-registered so we may be missing some information that would have been available if we had talked to park staff. The cable reception was unacceptable; it was fuzzy and we did not get any of the major networks. A neighbor told us that the cable system had been hit by lightning and there was a dispute with the insurance company. As mentioned by another reviewer, we were expected to disconnect our water overnight. The park definitely needs a little TLC. We were in a site by the Interstate, but inside the RV the noise was not noticeable. We would stay here again if the timing required a stop in Raton. Wi-Fi worked great. We camped at Summerlan RV Park in a Motorhome.
