This place is a gem! Lots of grassy park-like space, Red River runs right thru the middle of the park, wood is delivered to your campsite for $10 (if you have a campsite where fire is allowed.). The check-in process was a breeze, staff is very friendly. Spaces are tight. Best spots are right along the river. You can walk from to park to the Main Street in town, but a shuttle also runs that will pick up up and drop you anywhere. Red River is working hard to change itself from a ski town to a four season vacation area and they are doing a good job of it. We discovered a Bluegrass Festival with some regional and even national high quality talent. Road Runner even persuaded some of the players to come and jam at the RV park one nite - was a wonderful gift to the RV'ers. There is town-wide wifi. I didn't use it so not sure how well it worked. Verizon good in the park, iffy during the drive. The laundry was impressive - ten washers and dryers, commercial washer, and big folding tables. The restrooms are five or six separate rooms with shower, loo and sink. Plenty of space at the sink for your stuff. They are rustic, not fancy, but very serviceable. Red River is a lovely little mountain town and well worth a stay if you are traveling in the Enchanted Circle region of NM. Lots of music in the pubs even if no special event going on and Michael Martin Murphy, who lives in the area, makes regular appearances. Next week is a Folk Festival with James McMurty, a national c&w singer as the headline act! Check out the towns website to see what is available - they work hard to have something fun every weekend. Eat dinner at Capo's. This family owned restaurant is beloved in Albuquerque and we were happy to find one in Red River. Good food and good service. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Some lovely hikes in the area. The Columbine Creek trail, closer to Questa, used to be a great hike. Of course, Taos is about an hour away and a must-see stop if you are new to NM.

The sites are gravel/dirt and close together. Lots of trees in this park. Some RV's were not able to open their awning due to trees. There are premium/river front sites available but you need to make reservation a good year in advance to get a river site. The river runs through the park and is short distance from most of the sites that are not river front. It would be nice if they had a couple of dog parks within the park. The dog park was not convenient to our site. Did not use their cable TV because we had great reception for our Direct TV satellite. AT & T cell phone service worked well. Wifi was great. Our site did not have trees so I am not sure what kind of satellite reception you would receive if surrounded by trees. This time of year (Aug) is the rainy season--so the park gets muddy. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We were in a "deluxe" site that backed up to the river. The sites are tight, and many of them are nothing more than a parking lot. That being said, it is a well-maintained facility. We stopped by the front desk and had firewood delivered to our site, which was a much better value than what they offered at the grocery store downtown. The Wi-Fi worked well, and we were able to pick up a few broadcast TV stations with our antenna. We did not try to use the cable TV although it was available. This is definitely by far the best RV park in Red River. Our site was level and we had no problems with the power or any other aspect of the site. There was a nice fire pit at each site and picnic table . We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The city of red river is fairly small, with only 400 permanent residence. There are no red lights and only two gas stations. The one grocery store was always a bit crowded and difficult to park . However there were a lot of things to do including trout fishing, jeep tours, hiking, and offroad activities. We had dinner at Texas read our last evening and had a great steak. There are lots of shops downtown and plenty to do.

Roadrunner is a very nice park. Red River actually runs through the middle of the park and there are many sites that back right up to the river's edge. Each site has ample space, though not what I would call spacious. Sites are shady and provide a picnic table and either a fire or bar-b-q pit. Sites are gravel and ours was level with only small assistance on our part. All of the hook-ups (our side was 30 amp/water/sewer) were in good working order. The gravel roads are easy to navigate with large rigs and the grounds were very quite at night. The mountain views are lovely, the staff and hosts very friendly and accommodating. There is a very nice laundromat conveniently located at the entrance of the park and on the park grounds a tennis court and playscape for the kids. The quaint, little town of Red River is within walking distance. You really can't go wrong with Roadrunner RV Resort in Red River - a great park in a beautiful little piece of heaven. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

I highly recommend the Michael Martin Murphy Rocking Dinner and Concert. The Bar-B-Q was excellent and the concert most entertaining. Other places we recommend are the Walk with the Ranger (informational hike from the top of the ski lift) and Hidden Treasures was a great place to eat and offered live entertainment on Sunday afternoon. We attended church at the Community Center - it was a great service.

Site was dirt with mud when it rained. The site was uneven and tight. The WiFi worked about 20% of the time if that. Lots of dogs with lots of barking pretty much all day. One of the main attractions to Red River are Razor Off Road Vehicles and 4 wheeler trails. So lots of noise as they come in and out of the park. Expect campers to party at night. Do not expect Camp Hosts to enforce rules or inform you of power outages or bears in camp. Small children playing in street with no adult supervision. Very dangerous with large vehicles sharing the same space. Positives are: location, good security at the gate, firewood delivery, nice dog park. We are not dog owners. I would only stay again in the adult section and for a short period of time. Not many 50 amp hookups. I wanted to move to another site, but no 50 amps available for our stay. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2017 - $60.00
Overall Rating:

Book early, this is a busy park during the summer months. We booked in Feb to stay in July and we couldn't get a site where we wanted. We had to take the area off to the side of the entrance in the gravel lot. The sites in that area are so small and cramped that our neighbors slide outs covered our picnic table. We couldn't even sit in our site on lawn chairs, we had to sit on one end of our site or the other. Due to the closeness, you'll get to know your camping neighbors VERY well! Campfires aren't allowed in this area either (probably due to the cramped sites), which was disappointing. Some people had fire pits they brought from home and I guess those are OK to use, nothing was said about them. Pulling in to the RV park you are greeted by men directing you to park then tell you to go inside to register. We thought these men would take us to our site and guide us in but they didn't, so them being at the gate seemed odd. Getting to our site was a challenge because the area we were assigned to is cramped and tight. Driving through the rest of the park the roads and sites looked better and more spacious, more like camp sites than just parking on a gravel lot. The park does not have a laundry facility for guests. There is one nearby but it was closed the day we needed to use it. Exiting the park you have to cross over the entrance to get to the "exit" road. The entrance/exit set up at the gate is not ideal. Seems like a safety issue too. The entrance is straight (and down hill) but the exit is curved (and up hill) making it a tight turn for bigger rigs. Not well thought out. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is by far the best RV park in Red River. We had a riverside site. The spring thaw had the river running swiftly. Sites are gravel and level. There is a large grass dog park. The park is graced with mountain views with the river running through. The gate is manned during daylight hours and a security code given for after hours. Escorts take you to your site and offer assistance with parking, if needed. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Quiet hours are enforced. There is ample space between most of the sites, which can accommodate the longest rigs. Wifi is not available at your site, but is available in the office. This did not bother us as Verizon hot spot worked fine. We were able to get satellite tv. The park has basic Directv via cable. Restrooms and showers were clean. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

While there are things to like about this park it is mostly about being in Red River. This is our second stay (sites 6 & 16) and both times we have been in the same area. This area is a little unremarkable compared to the other loops and areas. However the Internet reaches these sites and it was strong enough to get work done. There are some great river sites and an adult loop too. Clean private bathrooms and very friendly staff. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Most of the spots are in a large parking lot full of fine gravel with no trees at all. However, the entire park is in a very good location, protected from wind and town noise. The bathroom are the best we have ever encountered. The showers are excellent. The wi-fi was fast, and they claim it will be available park wide soon. Kind of a sterile park with little to do, but in this case that is fine since you will spend most of your time in the nearby town or mountains. Their list of rules was very long, and I recommend asking for this list before you book. They are very strict about even the simplest thing, like whether or not you care allowed to put up a sun shade. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Great atmosphere being up in the mountains. Best RV Park in RR for sure. Pine trees and Cottonwoods line the park offering significant shade. Recently graveled spaces. They have relaxed some of the prior rules around the park including unlocking the restroom doors and eliminating the need for deposits for the card key for entrance gate. Our first stay, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The park is rustic in nature very well maintained. Some of the sites are short on outside sitting area. Staff are very nice and helpful. Laundry is available and is kept nice and clean. We tried wi-fi although we do not use it, and it was iffy at best. We stayed in the lower section so we could have a fire. It was very quiet, even during the daytime. Most of the utility connections are on the back end of sites, some are in the middle. There are some privately owned manufactured homes in the park but they are well maintained and owners blend in with the park setting. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Two gas stations in town, East end is unmanned credit card only gas & diesel, easy access for all rigs. West end has convenience store, gas & diesel but seemed like it might be harder for larger rigs to get into. Several good cafe/restaurants. Old Timers Cafe has breakfast through lunch. For day trips Taos is 45 min drive and Creede is 3 hour drive. Try Orlandos, North end of Taos for Mexican food kinda hidden right side of street.

For the price, I expected a bit more. We opted for a river front campsite, but the sites were extremely small and crammed together. There was no privacy at all. Our campsite was backwards with our front door opening into the next campsite, with our utilities, table and fire ring on the back side. The extremely bright yard lights made it hard to sleep. The wifi did not work at all. Overall it seemed like the campground was not well-designed. The people in the office were very nice and helpful, however I don't think I'd stay here again. Road Runner in the best place in Red River to stay. Very friendly staff and camp host. Pretty close to downtown area but still far enough away. We stayed in the adult only section. The only drawback to that was not being able to have a campfire. But safety first and I kind of understand why. Rest rooms were clean and a good walk from the upper section. I did not mind the walk and got to meet a lot of campers on the way. We will definitely stay here on our return trip but will try to get a campsite on the lower section by the river. We stayed here for 6 nights. The office staff and camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. They will even deliver wood to your campsite. The river runs through the middle of the campground and there are many sites that back up to it, though most of those are 30amp sites. The sites themselves vary in size. Ours was very spacious but close to us were sites that were packed pretty tightly together. We didn't use the showers but my husband checked them out and each one was a complete, private bathroom. Nice off-leash dog park. WiFi was not usable but cable was good. We had 3 bars on ATT but it was so slow that it wasn't often usable, even with our booster. We had 3 bars on Verizon with booster. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Roadrunner RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
