This small place offers four RV sites, not 5, as reported; one site appears to be a permanent trailer. Each has full hook ups, plus wifi; I paid $20. Can't beat that with a stick! There is a charge for showers and laundry. Maneuvering into a site might be a challenge if the place is almost full, but it's doable. One of the staff even helped me back in my travel trailer. One of the sites is pull-through. The early morning view of the mtns. to the west is fabulous. Quiet, quiet, quiet -- even being on Hwy 80, there are more bird noises than traffic noises. This place is about 15-20 minutes from Portal, AZ and Cave Creek Canyon, both great areas for birding. That's one of the main reasons I returned here to camp. There's not a lot offered in Rodeo, however; a few restaurants, a small grocery, but NO gas station. You have to go to 25 miles for that. The Chiricahua Desert Museum is a few miles away, but I have not been inside it. I've been too busy birding! We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

I didn't stay. Looked interesting, but with 80% of their sites apparently empty, they wouldn't extend checkout time an hour so I could work. I appreciate it though, because I found a park I loved down the road. We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Truck Camper.

Mountain Valley Lodge, owner at Mountain Valley Lodge responded to this review

We didn't extend check out time because we had reservations for a group coming in for an event. Sorry you didn't decide to stay. We are glad you found what you were looking for. We highly suggest that if you are going to be in Portal A.Z. or Rodeo N.M. Please make a reservation and research our website for current lodge and RV Park information. We also encourage future guests to google Portal A.Z. / Rodeo N.M. for all to see and do in the area.Thank you....Dan

Overall Rating:

Although we gave this RV park a favorable review last year, our opinion of it plummeted this year when our two-month reservation for the only site with a side yard was ignored. We arrived, after a long drive to this fairly remote location, to find another motorhome parked in the site we had reserved, with no other suitable site available. Mountain Valley is a very small park with minimal amenities, only 5 back-in sites in a gravel lot behind some cottages. Access to the sites is tight. There is only one coin-operated small shower and you have to ask the owner to turn on the electricity before you can use it. We will not stay here again. We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We love this small RV park. The owners are trying very hard to make everyone's stay enjoyable and they work hard at keeping the place clean and tidy. My wife and I came to hunt quail and we are in the middle of some great Arizona hunting grounds. It is a bit tight but my 36' trailer fit into a spot very easily. The local restaurants serve very good food and everything is very reasonably priced. We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go south about 2 miles and you cross into Arizona and some exceptionally good quail hunting.

Date of Stay: February, 2015 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this small RV park next to the lodges for a month in early 2015 in our 24 ft motor home while we explored the fabulous nearby Chiricahua Mountains. The park - which has 4 full-service, back-in spots - offers comfortable, friendly, and affordable accommodations in a quiet, beautiful corner of New Mexico. The park is within walking distance of a tavern and a cafe/convenience store - both serve good food. We plan to come back to Mountain Valley again next year. The $20 rate is their current daily rate; we paid a considerably discounted rate for a month's stay. We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Motorhome.

Owner operator of the business is friendly and offers information. There is some shade available. It is a small RV Park but can back up 50 foot RV's. Has a pay shower and laundry room that is clean. Has a beautiful koi pond in the yard. We plan to visit again. We camped at Mountain Valley Lodge in a Travel Trailer.
