This is a GREAT park. The owner and her husband are awesome as are all the folks that work and live there. We are birders and this is a great area for birding. Quick trip to Portal and on into the National Forest. RV Sites are spacious. Easy to maneuver our 45' MH through the park. Good Verizon signal and satellite hookup was no problem. Wifi was more than adequate. Park caters to birders and astronomers so it's dark after sunset. Bring a red flashlight if you have one otherwise they're available to buy at the checkin. Was a little windy on occasion while we were there. Closed slides one time. With wind come a lot of dust. It's SW New Mexico after all. There was a potluck dinner both Fridays while we were there that were very enjoyable if you like that kind of stuff!! We will go back and go back often! Rate above is based on the weekly rate. Electrical was in addition but reasonable. Worked out to another $4.00 p/day for us and we didn't skimp on the AC. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Small RV Park in the New Mexico desert. Hugh pull through site with one other trailer close to us and all others nice spacing away. WiFi good. Satellite reception good. Verizon 3G good. Dirt/sand outside that when wind blew got into everything. Great office personnel that hosted potluck every Friday night. This is great birding area that also attracts lots of astronomers because of dark night skies and low humidity. Bring your groceries, not much shopping around. Daily rate does not include electricity. Will definitely return. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed here in a class A motor home at the end of March 2018. First, I must say this is a hidden gem. Situated about 23 miles south of I-10, its a short drive to get into a nice park with some interesting things to see. This is NOT in the middle of nowhere, roads getting there are paved and easily navigated and as you head south you will come over a rise and then the valley opens up in front of you. It's Gorgeous! Now a word on the owner, she is a gem as well. She can tell you where every interesting attraction is at and will accommodate your needs. The sites here are long (200') and she has put a lot of thought into the park. This is easily navigated and whether you're into birding, astronomy or a rock hound, Rusty has you covered. Downsides when I visited were the harsh winds and all the dust (imagine that, dust on the New Mexico desert)! But getting to the museums and local attractions were well worth it and the night sky bristling with all the stars you can imagine-Priceless! this is worth a few days and the owner will take good care of you. Also, there is one bathroom and shower for the camp but this is clean and uncrowded and easily accessed any time of day. Also, the owner run weekly potluck is worth attending. Also, an onsite swim spa and their own little aviary are worth checking out. This is not the Ritz, but it earns its high marks. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to take a trip to the nearby little town of Porter and eat at the Porter cafe, delicious and loaded with charm. Also, the Chiricahua Desert museum is worth a look but heavy on rattlesnakes, both live ones and lore about them.

Overall Rating:

We picked this park because of its high ratings. The park was ok but not the rating it was getting. We had a bad experience on our arrival with the site we were taken to. We asked to be moved but no other site was available. Probably this turned us off immediately. The pros on this park is it sits out in no where land so it can be peaceful. Some of the sites are spaced nicely. Nice walking trail on the perimeter of the park. Close to Coronado National Forest for great hiking. Cons: Our site's patio faced our neighbor's patio so we had no privacy. One toilet/shower room that was in the recreation room. Washer worked great, dryers did not. We wished we would have know ahead of time that they had a half a park of construction workers staying there. Nothing against workers but their idea of "camping" is different than the people who are traveling. For Rusty's advertising of the peace and quietness of their park the drinking and partying right out your door makes for a very uncomfortable week. We would not return to Rusty's. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

R Ahles, owner at Rusty's RV Ranch responded to this review

We here at Rusty's would like to again give our deepest apologies for your experience here.
This was the first construction crew we allowed in the park as there is no other place for them to stay. Upon receiving the complaint we promptly attended to the issue at hand. As this is not appropriate behavior I notified their boss and advised him they will be asked to leave the park. We feel strongly about the peace and quiet and serenity this park has to offer. My deepest apologies Rusty

The site we had was the largest we have ever stayed in, it even had a concrete paving block patio. The patio was large enough for a picnic table, fire ring and about 6 lawn chairs. The owners were very kind and the view of the mountains was amazing. I would have gone all five stars but no cable and only one shower. The place was very clean. If you want to get way and enjoy the quiet this place is great. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Well received and accompanied to our site. Their laundry was very good. The Clubhouse was great- good TV with a great selection of channels. Very comfortable and warm. Coffee brewed each morning and a selection of biscuits/cookies. The Friday night Pot Luck is fun and it's great to trade experiences and stories and get recommendations. Their location is very quiet and so accessible to the Coronado Park and Chiricahua National Monument. Thanks To the owners for a memorable stay. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Rusty's is one of the reasons that you go RVing. Close to the middle of nowhere, surrounded by spectacular mountains along with very well-maintained and creatively designed facilities, incuding aviaries, bird pond, clubhouse and dog park. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

An excellent stop on the way to Bisbee, Douglas, Tombstone and Tucson. Very close to the Chiricahua Nat'l Monument and the Geronimo Surrender Monument. A popular stop for birders, rockhounds and astronomy buffs. This is not a luxury resort but a very special place for the more adventurous. All sites are good, but the views on the western edge are the most spectacular.

This is really out in the middle of nowhere. To the point that stocking up on groceries and gas is necessary. The location is beautiful though and the nearby Coronado National Forest has some great hiking and photo taking opportunities. The RV park itself is clean, has solid 50amp full hookups and level sites. The staff is very nice and helpful and will make you feel welcome. Rusty has a lot of knowledge about nearby activities. They also have weekly potluck dinners and other social events if that's your thing. If it's not, then you can just chill out in the huge sites and enjoy the views. The laundry is small and there's only 1 bathroom. There is also no cable and we were unable to pull in any OTA channels. For cell service there's no ATT even with a booster. I was able to pull in decent Verizon (4.5d/l) and T mobile (3 d/l) with the booster. However, without the booster it wasn't reliable. The park's WiFi was really good for a private park (10d/l) but they ask that you don't steam with it so we respected that and streamed with our Verizon and T mobile hotspots. There's a great 1mile trail around the park and a fenced in dog park so this is a dog friendly location. Also the national park is dog friendly. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

The park is very clean and staff helpful! Good size sites with patio. A fenced in dog run is available with a cabana and chairs to watch your pet play. Previous reviewers have covered key points about this park. Management is very helpful. A lovely area for birding, the park includes a viewing pond with ornamental waterfowl. Main concerns: As a Passport America customer, our site did not have a patio. Also, note that after the first night at $13.20, PPA users pay an additional electricity fee, in our case, $8.00 per day for 50 Amp. We found this to be expensive, especially since we could not take advantage of 50 Amp service. When running one air conditioner and our small refrigerator the voltage dropped to 111 with nothing else running. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Very nice park. Excellent layout of sites. With each RV facing in the opposite directions, which gives you the feeling of not being crowded. Well planned layout for water/power/sewer hookups. As stated in another review the sites are gravel and dirt with a patio and fire pit. Beautiful scenery surrounds you with wildlife to boot. Showers and laundry were clean and kept up to date. The park is a Dark park, which means there are astronomers here studying the skies. So, you will be asked to keep your windows shades down and outside lights off. But, that gives you a better chance to see the beautiful night skies of Southern New Mexico. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Nice park, very quiet. Friendly people. Had a Friday night Potluck dinner that was fun. Park has a small pond with black Swans.

Clean restrooms and showers. Lots are spacious with sunny and open exposures. Site surface was gravel and included a fire ring, picnic table and patio. Modern and good 30 & 50 amp electricity was available, as was sewer at our site. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Campground is about 25 miles south of I-10 in far western New Mexico. Arizona State line is about 1 mile west of the campground. Each site is a double side-by-side, but the sites are so large that there is absolutely no crowding, with one RV at one end and the other at the other end. Easy in, easy out with level gravel sites. Pulled in, unhooked, and was ready to go. Power, water and sewer was excellent. The Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona are about 5 miles to the west. ATV/UTV's can ride from the campground to Portal, AZ and up into the mountains in about 15 minutes. Good rock hunting, bird watching, and dark sky campground for astronomy. Owner's extremely nice and helpful about what to see and do in the area. Lots of hard work has been done to make this into a premier campground that is out in never-never land. Don't miss the Chiricahua Desert Museum about 5 miles south of the park. Area is heavily patrolled by the Border Patrol, so security doesn't seem to be an issue. Caution: Campground is in a high desert valley between two mountain ranges; it gets very hot here. I would consider this an excellent fall, winter, or spring campground. Only issue seemed to be WiFi, which the owner was having some difficulty with at the time of our stay. Would highly recommend this campsite to anyone staying in the boot-heel of New Mexico. We camped at Rusty's RV Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.
