Great park by a reservoir. The spots are close together and navigation in the park with a big rig will be tight in spots. We have a 40' 5th wheel. Power and water pressure were great. It is a 20 to 30 minute drive to the nearest town and they had all of the usual services. It is very quiet at the park because it is away from the beaten path and the night sky was beautiful. Good hiking trails around the park. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

An older campground that appeared to be a KOA at one time. Check-in process was easy and guy at desk was very friendly. Called and made a reservation about 2 weeks in advance. They did not require a deposit to hold the site. Placed on site 14, a pull through which was mostly dirt with some gravel. Roads are a combination of dirt and gravel which means it is very dusty when driving or walking. Entire campground could use new gravel. Restroom in center of the campground was old and in fair condition. My site was right next to the WiFi antenna but the signal dropped in and out. Free cable with a lot of channels however, the local channels were not clear (I think this is a cable company problem rather than a campground problem). Restaurant on site. I did not eat there but the food smell in the campground office smelled wonderful. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

There are several camping loops in this park, but only a few have electricity. About half of those also have water. Sites are well-spaced and good sized for the most part. A couple of the sites are a bit on the short side, however. Dish TV worked well here as did AT&T cell phone and Verizon MiFi. Most sites have covered picnic tables and grills. We will consider staying here again if we are in the area. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We booked this online for one night while traveling through the area and were pleased with the park. We booked a pull through site that was easy to get into and was long enough for our 5th wheel and our truck to park. They had a covered picnic table and BBQ grill available, but it was too hot to even consider going outside! There were also a lot of flies around. We thought the site would be 30 amp but discovered that it had adequate 50 amp service. There is water, but there was no sewer. There was a nice view of the lake from the site, but we did not drive down to it. The park is approx eight miles from town and was very quiet. We stayed in loop Rocky Point Electric, space A7. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We visited The Blue Hole and found it interesting. It is small and was very crowded. There were a line of kids waiting their turn to jump in and having a great time. The water is very blue and pretty! Glad we only planned to go and see it and not stay. It still cost us to park, but it was for charity so I can't complain!

This was a wonderful State Park. I would go back late in the fall or in the spring. It was too hot for us when we visited. The lake is beautiful. The campground was full but almost everyone left in the morning.

This campground is well worth the cost an excellent value. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a lovely park. We didn't have a reservation but found a nice site in the "hook-up" loop. Stayed two days to relax and hiked around the lake. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We didn't make a reservation, but there were a handful of 1st-come sites. Unfortunately, the one we grabbed didn't have water, but there's a roadside spigot -- don't forget to fill up your tank before parking! (oops!)

We stayed here Wed-Sat. All our neighbors were very quiet and kept to themselves. We had one noisy neighbor Friday night, but they quieted down around 9pm. It was a little windy Wed/Thurs, but the weather was great. The sunrises were beautiful. Our kids enjoyed the visitor centers (2 of them) and we found a few geocaches nearby.

Santa Rosa itself was fun for a day trip -- Blue Hole was cool and there's a nearby "water park" (some slides into a lake) that I bet would be fun in summertime.

Overall, the value here was awesome. $14 a night for electric (and water if you reserve a site!) is a killer deal and we will definitely be back! We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were surprised that we enjoyed this park.Landscape much different than we are used to.All the sites at Rocky Point have electricity but not all have water. Its a nice quiet park. Not much in the area except a car museum in Santa Rosa. We would stay here again. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a neat find for an overnight stay. It is out of the way a little, but worth the short drive. All sites are spacious giving plenty of room for your outdoor space and privacy with some neat views as well. Each site in the loop we were on, has electric and some had water (ours didn't). The other loop has no hookups. The only issue we had was that someone was in our reserved site (marked Reserved on the electric) when we arrived. Upon questioning them, they said that when we didn't arrive by 6pm, they thought it was then fair game. (We arrived at 6:15 and they were already eating dinner. Been there a while.) We traveled over 300 miles and had made reservations weeks before so that we could get a site large enough for our 37' fifth wheel and tow vehicle. (Didn't want to unhook for just a one night stay.) The only remaining sites in the park were too short, so we had no choice but to kindly ask them to move. They had a 15' single axle travel trailer and could fit easily in any of the available walk up sites in the park. This is my only reason for not giving a perfect 10 rating. I realize it is not the park's fault, but it took a lot of time waiting on them to pack up and move that we could have been using relaxing and enjoying the space. I think they just need a better system to verify no one is in a reserved space without a reservation. Will I camp here again? Absolutely! We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at the RV park that advertised electric sites. The park as a whole was clean and moderately well kept. Most of the sites weren't very level, and most were quite short. We used a pull-thru, but most of these were too curved, and difficult to arrange a big rig in without hitting shrubbery or trees. Only some of the sites had water. There are two loops, but only one was open. Reserved sites with a green placard could be used for one night only without reservations. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first stay in a New Mexico State Park. It was great. The site was level, good electricity, large and private. Park has only 23 electric sites and only half have water. Being close to I-40, those sites fill quickly, even on week days in October. Staff was nice, restrooms are old but clean. Park is very clean. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Gosh. I am a little surprised by the really negative reviews of this park. Maybe it is because we have just driven across the country and seen the really deplorable state of some parks; but we found the Santa Rosa park to be pretty good. We had a pretty site high on the hill above the lake. (Which yes, was low, but we thought the exposed red soil added a nice contrast to the blue waters.) The restrooms were cleaned while we were here and the showers were fine. We biked the paved roads and walked the trails. Electric worked fine and we filled our tank with water upon arrival. It was a nice quiet, low key, place. And we'd stay here again. The grounds were not mowed to perfection, but, if we had wanted that, we'd have stayed at home in the suburbs. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We were so disappointed in this park. The minute we drove in, we were dismayed by the almost derelict appearance of the campground. Overgrown with dead, dry weeds. It was a very sad park. Another camper said New Mexico hasn't really done anything to improve things since they took it over from the Corps of Engineers. The view was unimpressive because the lake has been drained practically dry. We were given the $10 rate because the electricity was off all day both days. We couldn't wait to get the heck out of there. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice views. Quiet and uncrowded during the week. Filled up on the weekend. Enough space between sites so a little noise is not objectionable. Dump station is about a mile away from the A loop. Bathrooms are not cleaned regularly. We've been here for a week. They were clean when we came in but haven't been touched since, even though someone signs off on them each day. Camp host mostly stays in his RV. Very little contact with anyone working for the State. Everyone is friendly. Mostly one nighters with a few staying to fish a couple of days. Nice trails. I measured 115 volts. Cellphone coverage is marginal but mostly reliable. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This started out to be a wonderful campout. Then the second day we were there the Camp Manager came around with several others to make it known that there was a major water leak to the tune of about 60,000 gallons lost on the first night that we were there. So there was only going to be the Push Button Cold Showers available at the shower stalls. But the water was cut off by that evening with no water at all. Then on day three no one came to tell us that the water line had been fixed. Well it was too late then to do anything but leave. We had already packed up and ready to move on. Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out time is suppose to be at 2:00 PM. Like others here the views are spectacular! The fishing is usually good too. Non-Resident Licenses are about $30.00 for 5 Days. It is 7 miles to Santa Rosa from this campground. We camped at Santa Rosa Lake State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
