7 mile dirt road into park but very well maintained. Park hosts very nice and helpful. Beautiful area and wildlife. It is dusty so your RV and items will get dirty. We camped at Burro Mountain Homestead in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Silver City, nice small town. Also City of Rocks is a must see! Very cool rock formations and campsites right in the rocks!

7 miles of serious Washboard dirt road makes this a never again Rv park. No where to change your mind and turn around. It took us over an hour to get up the road. If you care about your RV don't go. Nice campsite once you get there. Varied size sites, all back in. We have a 43 ft 5th wheel and couldn't get into or fit in our assigned site but we were able to find another acceptible site. Bathrooms were clean and nice. Camp host was accomodating. It's way out in the boonies, with a bunch of other long term campers. Nice sense of community. May be worth the drive for a long term stay, but definitely not for an overnighter. We camped at Burro Mountain Homestead in a Fifth Wheel.

7 MILE DIRT ROAD to get here. It took us almost an hour to ease our way into this gem in a 43' motorhome, but it was worth it. Full hookups with 50 amp power and FREE firewood!! This place is essentially a coop camp community that has a number of "daily" sites. Best showers we have ever seen. Deer throughout the campground drove the dogs nuts. Cattle roaming in the woods are pretty startling. wonderful people made us feel very welcome. NO cell service of any kind. No WiFi, no cable. We camped at Burro Mountain Homestead in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Silver City is a great place to spend a day. The local museum is worth a visit. Lots of places to eat. Hundreds of miles of dirt roads to explore.

Overall Rating:

Found this place on the recommendation of another RVer we met in Las Cruces. We're fulltimers, and this is one of the more unique campgrounds we've ever stayed at. It's up in the Gila mountains about 15 miles outside of Silver City on a huge property that reminds me more of a state park than a commercial campground. They have clean restrooms that look like they were recently renovated, and there's full hookups. There's also a western-style lodge building where there are activities from Spring thru Fall. The lodge was built by a family that was friends of FDR. My wife and I enjoyed hiking around the area. We'll be back during the warm season to try some of the activities. We camped at Burro Mountain Homestead in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The old downtown of Silver City is an interesting place to visit.....lots of art galleries/antique shops and restaurants. It's easy to miss if you just drive on Hwy. 180 and pass by the Walmart. You have to watch for the street signs. Also, this CG isn't too far from the Gila Cliff Dwellings and the Catwalk.
