We always stay here when in Silver City. This KOA is a very well managed one. The grounds and sites show pride in their park. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice terraced gravel park with some trees. We chose this park due to location; we were going to the Gila Cliff Dwellings and were going to stay at a park up there... but after a look at google maps, we determined that Highway 15 was no place to take a Class A Motorhome, plus park was also convenient to the City of Rocks State park. Site was a long, level pullthrough with picnic table. Hookups worked well, although with temps in the twenties at night, the water did freeze a few times, but thawed with the morning sun. Staff was very friendly and helpful and gave tons of area information. The park was not very busy when we were there (winter season), which was nice. Had a GREAT dog park with agility equipment and a network of trails in the hills directly behind the park, we and the dogs loved them! Saw many jackrabbits and several deer while on the trails. Location was convenient to everything. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

MUST see the Gila Cliff Dwellings Natl Mon, the City of Rocks State Park and the Catwalk at Whitewater Canyon. Please also stop at Udder Delight in Glenwood on way to or from the Catwalk, they make the most wonderful goats milk skin products! Little Toad Creek Brewery and Distillery in Silver City had great beer and food. The short drive out NM 152 to see the Santa Rita Mine was also cool, that place is HUGE!

Overall Rating:

We stayed the month of April 2017 and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We received a discounted monthly rate. The owners were so helpful and friendly as were the workampers. We give Silver City KOA an A+ and hope to return here and work with them as KOA Workampers. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Clean quiet campground especially in winter. Bathroom/shower/laundry were all spotless. The campground has some hiking trails around the back which make a nice place to walk the dogs. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Travel Trailer.

First, The managers were great, they really educated us on things to do in the area. Most of the park is mud with some gravel in the sites. There is grass, but mostly in the show areas. The pet area is pure mud, so is virtually unusable. The Wi-Fi was also virtually unusable, extremely slow and signal so weak it kept dropping my computer. It looks like they are trying, but Wi-Fi and pet areas are important to us. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful park. Owners are as nice and helpful as can be. All services work well and are as promised. Laundry $ is reasonable and accessible 24 hours. Pizza delivery to your unit available! Our site was very level tho I think a couple of them may need some leveling. Water pressure was good. Free WIFI and cable. Verizon signal was good. Owners were knowledgeable and offered many suggestions on dining and touring choices. Park is quiet and very clean. Pool was closed for the season but looked well maintained. Grounds are all gravel but have many areas of lovely landscaping. Owners work hard to keep grounds graded. Nice little store with necessaries and gifts. Nice game room and lounge with TV and computer available. We were only going to stay a couple of nights and decided to stay 2 months! Rate is based on % of monthly rate of $400. Will definitely stay again! We camped at Silver City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed 2 nights passing through the area to visit the nearby National Park Service sites.

The park is a few miles East of town along the major road (US 180) into Silver City. The road has multiple lanes near the park's entrance but has a center turn lane. Accessing the park requires a short drive along a paved road that changes to gravel. The park was built on rolling hilly ground so some of the roads and sites have interesting pitches.

The sites are a mixture of back-ins and P/T's. There seemed to be the extended stay sites. There was an escort to the site. This park didn't completely understand the simple concept of the importance of a flat, level site as some of the sites had a slight pitch potentially creating a levelling problem.

There are a few trees scattered around the park so satellite reception would be dependent upon site assignment and your dish configuration. The park brochure didn't show any cable or broadcast channels. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels.

The park provided WiFi was good. But only a few of the sites were occupied. It was password protected. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about the reception.

The designated fenced pet area was adequate to exercise a dog. It had a dirt surface. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park roads. The pet area had bag dispensers and waste collection stations for waste.

For being in a hazardous/severe weather area, there was no underground storm shelter. None of the structures in the park were identified as a severe weather shelter.

Although it was nothing special, we would probably stay here again as there isn't much to choose from in the area. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Make reservations with specific needs request as the campground is small with limited number of sites. We would request Premium site 14 or 15 due to the pitch of other sites.

This is one of the better KOAs we have stayed in. We went here with an RV group and not sure what we actually paid. Only complaint (but it was with a group) is they stuck us in a small spot for our rig and only 30 amp which doesn't really matter unless we run air. Typical gravel spots, some with picnic tables. People friendly. We would stay here again. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Staffers Joann and Ray were outgoing and helpful. Well kept grounds. Very clean restrooms. Large, clean dog area. Several hiking trails just outside the park. Site was large enough to accommodate both our 36' Motorhome and towed. Mix of monthly and nightly customers. Park also had "lodges", "cabins" and tent sites. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visit Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument, about a very scenic 2 hour drive away. Make a loop of it by going through Mimbres and Pinos Altos, in whatever sequence you choose. We had a fabulous breakfast at 3 Questions Coffeehouse in Mimbres on way to dwellings and early dinner at Buckhorn Saloon in Altos Pinos on way back.

Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery has good brews plus pub fare with a New Mexican twist. A favorite of locals.

This is a typical gravel campground with trees to help separate the spots. There were very few people there (probably mostly permanent) so it seemed spacious, but the spots are fairly close. Room for a picnic table. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The campground was clean and it was fairly close to Silver City (about 3.5 miles). We stayed here in a 29 ft RV. We would stay here again. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Good park, very clean restroom, didn't use the showers, but they were very clean. Friendly check in with a free cookie. They had pizza that night, nice touch, but we didn't have any. All roads are gravel, not super level, but not bad. Great cable, & acceptable wi-fi, & good hook-ups Sites are kind of close, but they picnic table, BBQ & a nice tree. Pool was not yet open for the season, but it was a nice size. We plan to come back because it's location is good for Gila park. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Motorhome.

Our rate was a rally rate. The current owners purchased this park in July of this year and are working very hard to spruce it up. They are very friendly and helpful. As another said, the TV is a bit of a hassle due to Comcast's scrambling the signal to every site. The owners are doing all they can to deal with this. It is a typical KOA with gravel roads and sites. Some like this, some don't... We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Silver City KOA in a Travel Trailer.
