We chose this park because of the other reviews here as well as several other RV review sites. Our experience at Monte Bello RV Park was more than wonderful. The park owners are what all RV park owners should strive for. Friendly, accommodating, helpful, honest, and will go the extra mile to ensure your stay is enjoyable. It is very clear they love what they do and they love the town they live in. Very big-rig friendly. The sites are level and gravel as well as wide and long for slideouts and tow-behind vehicles. Water is good; we also used a 50 amp site. Turning around is also easy. This park is outside of the hustle-and-bustle of Taos, but within a 5-10 minute drive. The park does reside in the high-desert, so campers should be prepared for that. What does that mean? No high overhanging trees that will block satellite dishes, smaller bushes about waist-high, extremely dark skies and it can get quite breezy during the afternoon hours. The park is VERY clean, including the office, storefront, showers, little library area. Scenery is awesome. Would we stay here again? Absolutely, without hesitation! We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

A real nice and clean RV park. All sites and road are dirt/gravel. Super clean restrooms and shower. Dog park and law enforcement firing range across the street got annoying. Park no longer offers a discount and charge electricity for weekly. Note that price reflects a weekly rate plus electricity. That would be $1000 a month! We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a well maintained campground in a high desert setting, owners were very friendly and helpful at check in. Roads and pads are hard packed gravel which helps to minimize the dust. We had a spacious pull through and big rig access was good. Very quiet with plenty of space for our towed, and wonderful views of the mountains, if you are in a motor home choose a site that is facing north to get this view. The bathrooms and laundry although small were spotless. There was a security gate 24/7 which was very reassuring. Very pet friendly with a lovely trail to walk your pet. WiFi and cell were good. Only 6 miles into Taos, which has great restaurants, plenty of sightseeing and Walmart's. We would stay here again.  We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

The owners and camp host could not have been more gracious and friendly. We loved this park! Short distance to town but super convenient. Quiet, safe, and very easy in and out. Most clean restroom and laundry we have experienced. If you keep yours squeaky clean, facilities will remind you of home. We will definitely stay here again! This is a small park located conveniently East of Taos off of highway. Our pull through site was level and easy to access. At this time of year water had to be disconnected in the evening to prevent freezing of hose and facility hook up. Verizon service was excellent and DirecTV easy to access. There is a large covered common area with a barbecue and picnic tables as well as picnic tables at each site. The area is high desert so landscaping is desert foliage and cactus. There is no fenced dog area but there is a well maintained dirt trail which made an excellent one mile walk for the dog. There is a nice store and staff was very helpful with suggestions for touring the area. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Remembering you are in the desert mountain climate, this is a lovely site. Sites are very generous in size, gravel, fairly level and have an unobstructed view of the mountains (we were there when the aspens were turning and the mountains were capped with snow and lower turning shades of gold and red with the evergreens mixed in for extra color). The park staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The park is quiet and most were waiting for first good snowfall to start skiing. Close to town (2 miles) yet far enough away to be away from the crowds. Close to the gorge bridge. I would highly recommend this part. Price reflects discount AND hefty New Mexico state tax (they have to pay hotel tax even though they don't change sheets or offer room service - go figure!) We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very basic campground. No amenities but reasonably priced. Sites were roomy enough. Level parking with good hook ups. Call ahead as this is a small campground and it was full each night that we were there. Central to a lot of interesting sights. See the pueblo when you visit. We will revisit this campground. No discounts offered. Small RV park close to Taos and Rio Grande Gorge. Water and electric worked fine. Good Verizon cell and MiFi coverage. Pleasant 1-mile hiking trail within the RV park. Nice enough park for a short stay. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed for a 1 1/2 weeks in Sept. 2014. The campground has great views of the mountains and is a short drive from Taos Ski Valley and downtown Taos. We camped in our 5th wheel toy hauler with slide-outs and still had plenty of room for our truck. They are located on a desert mesa, so don't come expecting shade trees and lush foliage. The mountain views MORE than make up for the lack of trees (you are also a short drive from all the trees you could hope for after all). We extended our stay and they were very accommodating. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in Taos. One of the happy surprises we encountered was a walking trail maintained by the RV park. Our dog loved walking the trail! His poor little feet were sore by the end of our trip from all the great mountain hiking, but the RV park trail is well maintained and relatively smooth for the area.

* I think we paid for the nightly rate which is 36, but I am not positive if we paid nightly or weekly. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Taos Mesa Brewing is a short drive from the park. Great local beers and music and you can take a growler to-go! The Stray Dog Cantina in Taos Ski Valley had a great Green Chili Burger and the deck is dog-friendly. El Meze, had kind of an eclectic Spanish-Mediterranean flair and great mountain views. We tried several that had won "Best of Taos" in their respective categories and they were all good. A great local market to try is Cid's Food Market, which sells local, organic and gourmet foods.

Not sure what other reviewers use as a gauge to give to give this park a 9 or 10. It is a dirt and gravel parking lot. When the wind blows (and it blows here a lot), the dust blows also. The wireless Internet works, but it is only 1.5 Mbps, so it is fairly slow. The park is listed as offering 15% off for Escapees, but the park no longer honors this. The owner is helpful, as others have said, but $30 for an elec/water site in a dirt/gravel parking lot does not warrant anything higher than a 7. This is a nice little park just outside of Taos. Management is very friendly, and keep everything very clean. Sites are pull through and have lots of room. Landscaping includes native plants, and lots of flowers. There is a nice view of the mountains, and relaxing hiking trails. The new WiFI system is very fast. 12 channels are available over the air. Security is good with on site managers, and a combination secured entry gate. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

I don't know why I am doing this review. My thoughts echo all the previous reviewers. Good Wi-Fi, level spots fantastic views, etc. What set this place for me is the help I got from the office in establishing places to see on my visit to Taos and also where to stay and what to do when I went on to my next stop in Santa Fe. I'd recommend this park and would definitely stay here again. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Most people may not rate this a 10 because it is nothing fancy but we love it and have been here for several days, twice. Staff is very helpful. The sites are unbelievably large with much room between them with some basic landscaping. The view is to die for--360 degree unobstructed view of the mountains. The laundry room and restrooms are spotless. There is a trail on which your can let your dog go off leash. It is small so you may want to make reservations during the busy tourist season. It was full up while we were here. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Gravel parking lot with some landscaping. Sites were level. Has a gate but no boundary fence so the gate only stops people from driving in. Very nice couple runs the place and they live in one of the RV's onsite. Easy to drive to Taos from here and the owners will overload you with maps and such if you ask. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Taos is close by. Rio Grande Gorge bridge is 6 miles to the west on the same road as the CG and worth the drive if you have the time.
