This is a awesome RV Park just outside Taos. I was only going to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. The owners and hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. The restroom/showers were spotless. The on-site store has a wide variety of basic essentials. The view of the prairie and mountains is impressive. The connecting trail is perfect for a morning or evening walk. This will be my goto site when I'm near northern New Mexico. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Located a few miles outside the hustle and bustle of Taos. Easy drive to get into town and convenient to get to Taos Ski Valley for wonderful hiking. There is one clean shower/restroom for men and one for women, but we never had a problem getting in. Small gated park. Very nice and clean. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. We have 30' fifth wheel. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This small park northwest of Taos is well maintained, with friendly staff and attention to detail. It's on a mesa in the high desert so don't expect trees. However there are many drought tolerant plantings between sites, and as a gardener I was impressed with how thoughtfully chosen and well cared for they were. Wind, alas, is inevitable in New Mexico in the spring so the park was windy during the day, but not dusty. Small but pleasant laundry. Lending library of books and magazines. Small but well stocked little store. Large spaces between sites. A large and well built covered group area with several grills and nice tables. Some private covered eating areas with their own tables, and walls. Maybe they can be rented? They were numbered. A nice walking trail into the desert. There is much to do in Taos, and lots of nice restaurants. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Loved this park and would definitely stay here anytime I am in the area. All sites are wide pull throughs. Very easy to get around the park in our 40' MH. Plenty of room for the MH and an F-150 pickup at all sites. Not all of the sites are FHU but we were lucky to get one for 8 nights. We had no trouble getting our satellite. We have our own WIFI so I cannot comment on that. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Mountain views everywhere you looked. Excellent location for seeing the sights. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice RV park with large and wide level gravel pull-thru sites and large internal roads. They have FHU's of both 30 & 50 amp. Picnic table. Excellent WIFI even when the park is full. Park is very well maintained. Amazing views of mountains and terrain in between park & mountains. No cable but lots of local stations via antennae. Friendly owner and staff. EZ check-in. Security gate and fence. Nice walking trail around park. Quiet. Beautiful sunset & sunrise views. At night it's very dark and a multitude of stars pop out! It's beautiful! It's like you are in the middle of nowhere yet with full hook-ups! Only downside is that it's on a mesa that gets some strong winds at times. I definitely would stay here again if in this area. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Taos Pueblo (13th century Pueblo homes where people still live as did before) is great and definitely worth seeing! Kit Carson home, museum, and gravesite is downtown, along with historical plaza and buildings. Royal Gorge Bridge is near as are the Earthship houses. Taos Mesa Brewery is right up the street. Enchanted Circle is a drive well worth taking (about 84 miles). San Francisco de Asis 18th century church is on the other side of town-be sure to see the Mystery/Miracle Painting.

This is a basic but very clean RV park. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. The gravel pull-through sites are quite spacious, but being exposed in full sun on the top of a windy mesa doesn't lend itself to sitting outside enjoying the day. It's a good place to stop for a few days but it's not special enough to spend a month or two. One huge positive is the mile-long walking loop out the back of the RV park. It's a nice amenity for both dogs and humans who'd like to get out and stretch their legs in the desert. I'd keep an eye out for snakes in the summer though. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice park for a couple nights stay. Nothing fancy, but big pull through sites for a 43' motor coach. Entire camp is gravel and has good drainage. (It rained very hard the 2 nights we were here.) Owner was very friendly and is a military vet. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park is on a barren plateau west of Taos. All sites are pull through, gravel pads and roads, fairly level. Our price was for 30 amp and water service only, sewer was an additional $6/day. There is a dump station in the park. Sunsets are beautiful, as the sun sets over the distant mountains. The park is close to the Rio Grande Gorge and the town. There is a one mile walking/biking trail through the prairie, west of the park. Included in your site is a picnic table. There is NO SHADE in the park. The wind blew strongly both nights we were there. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. Coin op laundry. The staff was friendly. There is a store on site, with reasonable prices. Had to go to the pavilion for wi-fi, but available. Good ATT service. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Park is slightly northwest of Taos. I would have given it a higher rating overall except the cost was on the high side and they charge for individual electricity at your site. That added about $1.50 to the already pricey rate. We stayed 11 days and got their lower rate. The park has nothing exceptional in it, just like many "nice" rv parks. Staff is friendly. Beautiful views if you ask for a site facing the mountains. Great separation between sites. Clean and well run. My only complaint was the WIFI which was spotty at best. If they actually provided reliable WIFI this would be a 10 rated park. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

We planned to stay at Taos Monte Bello RV since it has good easy access to skiing. We booked our site in advance since it was during Christmas and New Years. The day we were arriving, we were delayed and would not make it to the rv park until 6:30 pm, so we called to let Monte Bello know of our arrival time. The woman who answered was obviously upset with our late arrival and told us it was a great inconvenience to stay until we arrived. Monte Bello closes at 5:00 along with the security gates. Since we were registered and credit card given, we asked for the security gate code and was told no we could not have it since we have not "officially" registered. The woman then suggested that we stay the night somewhere else and come to Monte Bello the next day. To us, this was absurd and not an option so we contacted the other RV park in Taos. We were greeted in an entirely different way.

We have been camping/rv'ing for many years and we have never experienced a rv park closing at a specific time and not accommodating late arrivals. We have always had our sire information set up on a bulletin board or in a box with the expectation that you physically register the next morning.

We called Monte Bello back to let them know that we were cancelling our five day reservation. We explained that the other rv park was more than happy to have us and work with the late arrival - the woman said thank you and hung up. In my opinion, this is not how a rv park, who has travelers coming and going every day from all over the US, does business. Will we stay at Monte Bello - never! Will we stay at the other rv park off of HWY 68 and Este Es - YES! We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

BEWARE: GPS will not send you on the most direct route - would have been better to go through Taos instead (we think). Loved this more primitive setting site - glorious panoramic views. Managers (sooo very nice) did not have a 50 amp site the first nite for us, so they parked us beside their office, so we stayed hooked up and moved later the next morning when another site became available. Hard to enjoy views and relax when you have to move twice and only staying 2 nites. But it was appreciated. Campground store had ample RV supplies and at good prices. Security gate and 24 hr camp host on the grounds. I could have stayed another day here, just to relax and watch the sun go down in the desert behind the mountain ranges. Beautiful - felt like we were really in New Mexico. Rio Grande Gorge/Suspension Bridge was close by (worth the trip) and shopping in Taos square was awesome. Orlando's restaurant was wonderful, true New Mexico mexican food. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is an amazing campground. Perhaps the most picturesque and well run in northern New Mexico.

However, now there is either a kennel or other dog aggregation facility across the street. If you enjoy dogs barking all night this is the place for you. If you don't like dogs barking all night, bring noise cancelling headphones. This development is a shame. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.

We had a very bad experience at Monte Bello. This park is pretty basic and we were prepared for that from the previous reviews. It is located on top of a mesa with no trees, no shade, lots of dust and VERY windy. Most afternoons our RV was rocking back and forth like being on a boat. There is also road noise as it is located right next to a highway with lots of truck traffic.

The sites are close and have no privacy. Unfortunately for us, the on-site host did nothing about the site occupant next to us who got up at 6:00AM and decided to do repair work on his truck engine along with lots of slamming doors, revving engines, driving in and out to test his repair work, etc.

This noise and repair job continued for over 3 hours. When we complained to the on-site host, whose site is situated directly behind the offending repairman, he was rude asked why we didn't complain to him at 6:00AM and used language that is not fit to print. Needless to say, we will not be returning here - ever. The positives are the clean restrooms and laundry. We camped at Taos Monte Bello RV Park in a Motorhome.
