This is a nice campground for one or two nights to see the Old Route 66 main street. They have some nice long pull thru sites that allow big rigs to stay hooked up. They have 50 Amp FHU available. The park is older but clean and tidy. ATT & Verizon work well. Plenty of clear sky for satellite set up. No restrooms or laundry. No train or Hwy noise. Free WiFi works OK but is turned off after 10PM and on from AM 7-10 then off during the day until 3PM. Internal roads are gravel as are pads. Sites are well spaced. Old Motel Facade is quiet nice and not an eyesore even has individual garages with each room (Never seen that before). Del's and the Chinese were both very good. Will stay again. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Owners very accommodating...will set you up with a space conducive to satellite it you want, or provide cable service.
Location outstanding. Within walking distance to a Lowes Grocery Store and several diners.
Several murals were on many of the businesses relating to Route 66.

Owners make it very clear on their website this is a no frills campground.

Biggest assets are easy in and out off the freeway, without the freeway noise, and nice level sites. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here in a 42' FifthWheel and did not unhook. Very nice area, level site, plenty of room for slides, big rig friendly, monitor showed good electric, wifi, cable, and full hook up. Behind the office area and connecting structures was a very large RV park. We were pleasantly surprised. Staff are informative. Great place for an overnight. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

I realize the options in Tucumcari are slim but this place is near the bottom of the barrel. It's redeeming feature is it is cheap. IF you have Passport America. There is no way this place is worth it's full price.

When you first pull in you are faced with a dilapidated early '50s motor inn. In near complete disrepair with a hole punched in the building directly in front of you. The office is run down and loaded with hand made signs to direct you to the office. Once they unlock the door to let you in you are hit with the smell of curry. The woman is very helpful and courteous. Once checked in she will walk you to your site. They aren't numbered.

Our site's cable TV was provided by a coax cable buried in the ground with barely enough length to reach our coach. The sites are all gravel with a few small trees. No dumpster for trash. There was a handmade sign above a plastic trash can instead. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Several Yelp recommended restaurants are within easy walking distance.

And of course it is on historic Route 66 with all the attendant touristy stuff.

This is a real gem on Route 66. An old motel with brick walls made in to a RV Park. Looks like a facade but it is the real old motel you see. Newer utilities worked fine except for a low flow of water. One very strange thing was that the free and working WiFi only was open a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening because of heat (?). Never heard that before. Staff excellent, easy in and out, great for a overnight stay. VERY quiet at night. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

A few restaurants around the corner. Old diners style. Just to walk on Route 66 is kind of fantastic. Small motels with ColorTV signs etc. I timepiece and a bit of America that most likely has its years counted for, so go there while you can!

Easy access off freeway. The office is very run down looking and the strip of old motel buildings can give you pause when you first arrive, however, the office staff was very accommodating and the site we were given off to the back side of the office was spacious and level. All of the gravel looked to have been recently raked and there wasn't one pot hole in site. The wifi worked well but they only have it on for a couple of hours in the morning and evening - odd. We paid the PA rate which was a good value as not a lot of choices in this area. I wouldn't likely stay here for the full rate as there are no amenities at all as others have mentioned. Note there are a lot of stickers in the far back lot so walk your dogs on the side or along the street. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you are staying here on a Sunday, be aware that most of the restaurants and many stores are not open on Sundays or they close at 2 PM so plan accordingly for meals or shopping. THere is a grocery store several blocks away and some interesting nostalgia to take in along Route 66. Many of the buildings are closed or run down but some are still open.

We have stayed here twice. It is an old motel lot made into a RV park. The owners are nice and accommodating. There are trees for shade and easy in and out access. Great for an overnight stay.

WiFi works great and so does the cable. Price is right. We would stay again. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

This RV Park is about 2 miles off the Interstate, and does not seem to get heavy use. Nevertheless, it is a park with easy sites to get into, level and with all the hookups in good shape. Be aware there are no restroom and shower facilities, so your unit must be self-contained. We would certainly stay here again - it is a god place to stay as an overnight stop when traveling on I-40. We have stayed here before and will stay again when we are in the area. The sites are level, have good hook-ups and are spacious enough to keep your car hook-ed up if you wish. There are several trees for shade but the sites are mostly dirt. The owner is very conscientious: he gave us a site so that our front windshield was not facing the hot sun. There are no showers and bathrooms. It's not the prettiest campground in the world but is clean, handy to the highway, has 50A service, good hook-ups and was fine for us. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice easy-in, easy-out park on the grounds of an old Route 66 motor court. Full hookups, including very good wi-fi and cable tv. Owners were very pleasant and helpful. We had only planned to stay one night, but decided to stay a second night in order to explore a bit of historic Tucumcari. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Kix on 66 and Del's restaurant were both very good. We also enjoyed searching out the various murals around town. Note that the Dinosuar Museum and the History Museum are not open on Monday.

Great place to stop overnight on your way through the area. Convenient location on Route 66, walking distance to a local restaurant, and the place is loaded with history up and down the road. Owners are nice people, plenty of spaces available, free wifi, cable, and full hookups. Wifi is shut off from 11 pm-7am. When I asked why that was (as I get up before 7), the owner said that you are supposed to be sleeping at night so don't need the internet during that time. Checkout is 10 am (I thought that was rushing anyone there), but otherwise the place is a good place to stop at while going through. It's a quiet park, even being close to the road. We would stay here again. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Restaurant next door. Blue Swallow--famous Route 66 motel is up the road and worth going to see at night with the neon lights on. Alot of hotels still in the 50s decor along the road. Remnents of the Cactus hotel are still on the rv property and very interesting history in the whole place.

This is our second time to stay a week in the same year. The owners are real nice and very accommodating. We were able to receive our mail here as we are full-timers. Wifi great, Cable great, utilities great. Long pull-thrus as we are 60' total. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Within walking distance to restaurants. Recommend Pow Wow for Mexican food. Del's restaurant is also good. Chinese Buffet within walking distance. Up the road is Tucumcari Ranch Supply where they have excellent barbeque and gifts, etc.

This is a nice, clean, quiet Park. Very nice owner. The town appears to have fallen on hard times. The owner is really trying. We will stay again. Give them your support and stay so we can keep a nice Park in this area. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

WiFi is limited to the hours of 7 am-11 pm. Not a real issue for most folks.
Good cable.
The site was very level - didn't need to unhook - and wide.
The area looks very run-down. They have had the property since around 1976 and one would think that they would have made the office look better. It smells and looks old. However, campers don't stay in the office, so, how much does that matter???
The RV park is in the parking lot of one of the first Best Westerns ever built in the 1930's. In its day, the motel was quite a big deal and some of the rooms are still standing on the grounds. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Tucumcari is stuck in the 50's and 60's when Route 66 was a big deal. It's fun to walk along the Route 66. There are many photo opps.

This is a "no frills" campground located in the former courtyard of the historic Cactus motor court and club on old Route 66. The site area was clean and at our site everything worked. The office is located in the former dance/gambling club. The exterior of the motor court is still standing unfortunately the interiors are beyond salvage. We would stay here again if in the area visiting Tucumcari. We camped at Cactus RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plenty of Route 66 and other history in the area. The local history and dinosaur museum are worth a visit.
